JOB kook experience. Pushing tourists into the waves of locals since 2014

You know I actually like Jamie O Brien and the idea of this surf school. But the truth is the instructors teach zero etiquette. I surf this spot and my kids and I went out of our way to avoid the school crowd and went to a spot breaking a bit better a little ways down the beach. One instructor ends up moving directly in front of where me and my kids are surfing and pushing his student right off onto the shoulder of a wave I was already up on. He did this several times, two other instructors paddled up more as appropriate. So I asked this “instructor” what no etiquette? He explains how I can’t surf and since I’m on a foamie it don’t matter anyways. Needless to say tempers flair and middle fingers flew. Man JOB teach your guys some etiquette and maybe some conflict resolution skills, especially if they’re suppose to be instructing a little aloha goes along way. The way I see it I respect places and the locals, you brought your surf school to our beach, only kooks push tourists into locals waves when they’re up and riding. And to your bearded instructor out in coronado who’s only defense was what you gonna do about it? Slag in me for riding a foamie while teaching on foamies? Man I thought all that elitist BS was done with…same with extreme localism, your instructors are presenting a good case for good old fashioned localism…no aloha JOB

A little over a year ago for my first and only trip to Hawaii (took me a lifetime to get there LOL) we stayed at the Twin Fin. We found it to be an awesome place to stay but unfortunately it was before you set up your surf school there. Best of luck with all of your ventures Jamie!

Me and my brothers family, 8 in total, will be there in July 2024 with our 10 year old. He’s going to need some encouragement to get out on a wave but hopefully the staff has some tricks up their sleeves to help him out. So psyched!!!

Awesome kindness and love was given and shown. Man...I'm 58 years young haha...and there's something about you that resonates. Great little surfing skills there by the groms (brothers).
