Wow. But I can't help but go back to the photos of his Santa Monica penthouse published in California Beach Houses, almost 30 years ago... That to me is still the dream!. That sofa with the blue stripes and the marigold silk pillow with the silver trapper screen behind it is delightfully seared in my brain. When I redid my home 16 years ago, I took a cue from his first book which recounted his West Hollywood office with its mocha walls and chalky turquoise ceiling. My living room has been repainted in the same colors over the years, and still looks beautiful!

What I love about his design is that he shoots for timeless not the in the moment fad. Some touches of modern but classic without being precious or stuffy.
