I have to say, as a person from afar seeing/learning/understanding Kristen's life and how much her guides helped her was amazing and inspiring. Having these dogs there to help keep people like Kristen safe, is miracle and achievement. I truly hope people understand how important these pups are to people with disabilities and anyone whose lives depend on them.
Its 2024, for years being Diabetic low sugar is always an issue for me every night, not anymore ! Thanks to my CGM its a game changer.
Sometimes that's all the help you got
A want to apply for my daughter!!!
I love this dog walk. I try to do it every year.
I am so heart broken right now.. I have been a diabetic type 1 since I was a teen. 45 years old and I own a pet, but I live in FL, its a shame that there are not any organizations like this in FL
Do you ever use bells on thier collar to notifie you of low blood sugar and licking you of high blood sugar
My paternal grandmother died from diabetes complications when I was 13yo. My grandpa who's my only living gramdparent on my mom's side has diabetes. My maternal grandma passed away when I was in late 30s. I hope I get diabetes and pass away soon. I miss my grandmothers too much.
Absolutely amazing! Humans are so lucky to have dogs! They are the most incredible creatures ever! Out of all the remarkable things they can do, their true passion is to love and care for their humans, unconditionally! We are beyond blessed, to have them! 🐕🦺🐾🐶🐾🐕🐾🦮🐾🤎
I live 3 hours and 11 minutes away. If I qualify for the program, would your team be able to overlook those 11 minutes? I once fainted and fractured my right patella due to low blood sugar and it was REALLY SCARY! I also recently started using the Freestyle Libre 2 CGM and I think having either a medical alert dog or buddy dog might be helpful to me!
I was diagnosed with T1D when I was eleven before a spring break trip, and we were going to Mexico for a few days, and there was this huge pool at the resort we stayed at near our hotel room. We went for a dolphin riding session soon after arriving at the Riviera Maya. We took a bus there and my glucose reading was 49. It had risen a little after our activity and I wanted to go swimming in the giant pool. My aunt agreed to take me there but about 20 minutes in I started feeling hungry so I got the shore, checked my blood sugar and it was only at 70. Not super dangerous or anything but needless to say, it would be a couple more years before my aunt stepped into another body of water with me lol
This is a cool video
look forward to getting one :)
This is an amazing story. I've heard crazy stories of how dogs have saved lives. How they can be used for medical purposes. Therapy dogs that can help children sleep. Dogs can detect if a person has cancer. Today I heard about this program for helping diabetics. Ivr been diabetic since age 11 with a thousand+ bloodsugar in a coma. I'm now 39 years of age. They say dog is man's best friend but I think it's God's greatest gift. They can save people from loneliness. Detect if an infant has stopped breathing and alert the parents. Protect the family. I helped train my friend's dog from puppy to one year of age. Truly amazing creatures.
@Loulou Bos I'm talking in general. This one child I saw used to have seizures in his sleep but somehow having the dog in bed with him alleviated whatever was causing them. Parents felt the dog was a blessing sent from God. My childhood friend was blocked by a dog when he crawled out of the apartment. His parents told him what happened. Try getting a cat to do that.

@@knightrcerThat is NOT a therapy dog. Therapy dogs do not do that and do not work for one person.
This is amazing
I wouldnt mind a service dog.. i have Type II and i almost went into a diabetic coma ..once.. its scary ..and I dont want to do that again
this is an amazing video! well done!
She’s a Ravenclaw! Yaaas!
The coolest thing ive ever seen! 👏🏼
i have diabetes to and i have it since i was 1 in a half
If you dont mind me asking how old are you now. My son is 16 and has been diagnosed for 2 years now. I always like others inputs on how they have dealt with it. I stay nervous all the time but he has adapted very well. It is a life changing disease for sure. God bless you! 💜
My husband knows that I need a #servicedog because I'm have Type I #diabetes and it's extremely dangerous to not know when my blood sugar drops, so I can relate. Good job young lady! 🤩
I have T1D And i will get service dog
She got diabetes at four I got diabetes at four it’s nothing genetics with how she got it nothing with my genetics with how I got it I want freedom she wanted freedom she got it tho.
She got it from genetics, as does everyone
Still missing Armstrong Mark. He was an incredible boy!
Wow! I want to partner! Im type 1 and dont feel highs so i think it would be very beneficial for me
I'm type 1 diabetic and I have had a seizer a diabetic acoma, I slept for 3 days and ya, I want a service dog but I just bought one its just they haven't trained him yet so he's working on that! I named him Gilroy, he is a registered american black labrador retriever and he is 1 year old! :)
SunDance 666 congrats! How much does the training cost? I also have seizures and have had diabetes for 13 years now.
@@cajun6316 The exact cost will depend on the particular organization and training program selected. But on average, an investment in a Diabetic Alert Dog can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $20,000. There are non-profits that grant dogs for free and only require that you pay for your training with the dog.
Ummm how do u know u have diabetes
Isa Cruz not sure how to answer your comment
@@pewicarlosandmarcosshow619 when I was three I went to my aunts house and I ate a snack and I got really sick so my mom rushed me to the hospital and they tested me and they said I was type one diabetic.
I’m 11 and I have type 2 diabetes and I want a service dog
Billie Eilish Fan Type 2 diabetes is very different from type q
What’s type q
Billie Eilish Fan I meant type 1
Danielle 1244 don’t u think I know that 😑
Billie Eilish Fan type two diabetes is actually very different from type one. You can’t just say you want a service dog you actually have to need a service dog. Your doctor doesn’t have to to recommend it, but you can’t just decide out of the ordinary because you see one having a service dog. You have to know that it would benefit by doing a trained task for your disability. It cant just be because you want one
I have diabetes too!
kate guzman same!! I really want one of these dogs
Wonderful video, and very informative! Thank you D4D & ARF! 🍃🌹🍃
Great video! Go Doggies! Good luck with your fundraising efforts from DoJiggy.
WAY TO GO GREG! Good to see you back on the small screen!
I am going this Wednesday to a meeting to see how to get a D4D
I applaud you. I have 2 diabetic children so I completly understand what you are saying. I'm in the process of fund raising to get my son a dog, but as you know they are very expensive! My son was diagnosed at 1 yr old. He's 15 now and needs independence. If anyone reading this can help or knows someone who can, direct them here www.gofundme.com/DADforJaocb OMG!! Dr Simon was my son's doctor for 12 years until we moved from California.
I have type 1 diabetes and I can't get an alert dog because I don't think it's available in Ireland.
can a small dog become a diabetes companion? I want to have a small dog say a sheltie or a shih Tzu. I see a lot of larger dogs, but I haven't seen any smaller dogs.
@Emily Deem any recommendations???
When will dogs be available in the Midwest? I want one! :)
