This song is using Ben Weasel as a plot device obviously. The overall idea is Many people I know, myself included, have had to come to decision point. Your life is falling apart and it comes time to take responsibility for yourself, admit you were wrong, and do the right thing. There is another decision that can be made however...to double down, argue that you are right, and insist forevermore that everyone else is to blame.
