I love this, all of it, except for the last part where i think the protestant dude says, "Make disciples of all nations.". That's prostelization. Islam is also prostelizing, it just kills people as it does it. And as someone who has been on the recieving end of prostelization attempts from Christians for over a decade, i dont like it one bit. It goes from banal shit like bringing up topics of religion and god out of nowhere, to love bombing, to inviting young people to religous events without their parents knowing, to talking badly about other religions, to the most nefarious i.e. feeding them without their knowledge, food that is against their religion. I like 99% of christianity(orthodox christianity to be precise), except the prostelization bullshit, and a wise orthodox christian has told me that prostelization is not something jesus told people to do. And where i come from it is well understood that there is no such thing as converting people to this religion or that religon. To be christian, buddhist, hindu etc is the endpoint after a lifetime of work, and not a consequence of mere birth in a religion, or of merely uttering the words. The orthodox might call becoming an actual christian "theosis". So while you guys are rightfully picking the mote out of the eye, this mote is left untouched, because it inflates the size of the flock without actually creating actual christians. The muslims too do that. So you guys aren't addressing what actually causes tensions among religions, which is prostelization.

I cannot answer for this particular person's arguement about missionary work being a detriment, but as a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church with members of my congregation who have legally emigrated from Ukraine, a nation whose culture that was shaped for over 1000 years around the ancient life of The Church, are of the opinion that the worst of Western American culture is seeping into their nation through westernized versions of 'Christianity.' The Ukrainian's who are faithful adherents to the life of the church cannot understand how shallow western Protestantism is relative to the ancient, 3 dimensional, discipline of Christian Orthodoxy. Ukraine doesn't need 'missionaries.' They need the corrupt, Ukrainian government to allow the populous who are faithful to LIVE their faith. For the last millennia, entire villages have processed the countryside in celebration of the most important Holy days, participating in feasts and fasts communally, and letting the life of the church shape their world, not letting the world shape their lives. They had traditional values and lived simply. We Americans think that our way of doing things is always better, but we are dead wrong when it comes to how American culture has destroyed any semblance of what the ancient church intended living 'Christian life' to look like. Ukraine has been Christian, faithfully, before Ukraine was Ukraine. Since 988 AD to be exact. Now that 4-5% of their modern populous is considered to Americanized (many evangelical) Protestants and the emergence of ideologies like LGBTQ tolerance, etc lines up with that shift, it is easy to see that attempting to fix what isn't broken, results in degradation.

I was fine until the praising of those who fractured the body of Christ so devastatingly. “And the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (a reference to the Church, the Pilar and bulwark of truth) the sacred scriptures do not lay out a vision of a Church devoid of scandal. Conversely it depicts a Church with false shepherds who will lead the flock AWAY from the faith (the reformers foretold well before they existed) as well as wolves in sheep’s clothing. Never does it provide a blueprint of how to break away and establish a church of your own when corruption occurs. (as if corruption would not be found in the new churches) Would Christ not preserve His bride despite the imperfections of the human element he entrusted it with? The expectation of perfection plays out in the proclamation of every Christian. As soon as you claim to be Christian, the microscope appears. The believers join the ranks of the non-believers to criticize everything the professed Christian does. This is the same spirit that convicts the Church. If the reformers were such hero’s, why are they so divided against each other? Why isn’t every Protestant a Lutheran? Can we not see before our eyes the results of the fracturing of Christendom?! Christ prayed for our unity and we are praising those who put asunder what God had brought together?! I am just confounded by the lack of concern for personal culpability of contradicting Christ’s will for unity. Please Lord have mercy on us. I think it’s interesting that there is no discussion regarding the fracturing of east and west and how the fracture weakened Christendom resulting in the rise of Islam. The reason Protestants in the United States are not aware of the crusades is because they dont think that the crusaders were really Christians because they were not Baptists, Church of Christ, Non Denominational.
