My Mobile Hunting Setup for Self Filming on Public Land - (SIMPLE & EFFECTIVE)
With opening day just a few days away I thought I would share my setup I will be using this year. Cut out some of the excess from last year and am running a new backpack now. Self filming isn't easy. But the reward when it all comes together is unlike anything else I have ever experienced. With any luck this will be the best year of content to date. The work has been done, the gym sessions completed, the bow has been shot and broadheads tuned. Camo is clean and were ready tot rock. Good luck to everyone out there this season. Here's to Opening weekend for most of the Midwest!

Texas Rig Kayak Bass Fishing - (Bass after Bass)

Great day on the water using an incredibly reliable traditional bait, the Texas Rig. Time and time again this technique proves to be the winner when the bite gets tough. I just switched bk to a climer its easier faster an in my case lighter then a hang on plus sticks unless your spending 1000 bucks

    • @TheWaterHopper
      @TheWaterHopper 2 месяца назад

      Yea I can definitely see that. I found that the main reason I prefer the hang on is the fact that I can setup my cameras and bow and everything. Then climb back down to get in my warm clothes. Or if I hang it in the morning I can come back to it ready to go for the afternoon. I also really like that I can climb any tree. Most of the areas I have started hunting lately don't have straight chute trees. Only a hang on works in there. I'll say this though. Nothing beats the comfort of a climber without a doubt. Also a larger standing platform works great.

    • @NastyN8thegreat2

      @TheWaterHopper makes sence I use the hang on in Marsh swamp area everywhere else in my area is pretty much hardwood lots of pines which have branches up high so I'm able to use the climber fairly easy both have there perks happy hunting this season

    My husband shot a nice buck mid October bow hunting. We tracked it for 2 days with a dog and thought the deer was long gone. 2 weeks later one of the landowners sent trail cam video of the buck. He was limping bad. Opening day gun season the neighbors best friend shot him at 7:30 am. only 150 yds from where my husband shot him. The friend said there wasn't much meat on him and the loins were small. He didn't think it would have survived the winter.

    That one buck as you were packing up after the women went through was a real nice 9 or 10 point, assuming he had brow tines. Surprised his antlers were so white, stuck out like a sore thumb going through the woods.

    • @TheWaterHopper
      @TheWaterHopper 10 месяцев назад

      He did indeed have brow tines. Definitely a huge buck. Funniest thing. At the time I thought he was like a skinny 8 or something like that. Boy was I wrong. I guess I should have stayed in the tree that day.

    • @Diffidentone
      @Diffidentone 10 месяцев назад

      @@TheWaterHopper I probably would have tried to guess where he was going and tried to head him off and wait in ambush. I've done that successfully a couple times in the past after I've jumped deer but that was with a gun so a bit easier as you do not have to guess within 30 yards and can be off by 50 or 100 yards further. Kind of like doing an accidental drive for yourself.

    • @TheWaterHopper
      @TheWaterHopper 10 месяцев назад

      @Diffidentone right. In retrospect I should have pursued him. He clearly wanted to stay in the area since he came in twice. I was just so annoyed with the women and having to carry the stand up that hill I was just over it. In the future I need to nut up. Hide the stand somewhere and try a stalk

  • @Diffidentone
    @Diffidentone 10 месяцев назад

    Yea, sucks but it happens to every hunter. I looked at that footage a lot as well frame by frame and hard to tell where you hit. There was a "fur" spot like high neck I saw appear and then a "fur" spot in the gut area and then kind of looks like a splot of red back by the hind leg as you said, was that just flying blood or a spot on the fur or a kicked up leaf, impossible to say. One thing is for sure that deer had super long hair as it was moving all over the place as it whirled and ran, made everywhere look like a hit spot.

    • @TheWaterHopper
      @TheWaterHopper 10 месяцев назад

      Guess I just had my day sooner than most folks. But I've learned from it for sure. And won't be taking a quartered to shot again for a long long time. So hard to say where it hit with the gopro footage.

  • @Diffidentone
    @Diffidentone 10 месяцев назад

    If you could have stopped the doe and he would have been close behind you may have had a chance but them being so far apart that buck was focused on one thing and one thing only. He more than likely never even heard you with his tunnel vision. So close but no cigar on this one. 😁 I see I have 2 more to watch yet so it looks like it gets good from the little sneak peeks you've been giving.

    • @TheWaterHopper
      @TheWaterHopper 10 месяцев назад

      Yea man it was a rough one indeed. In retrospect I should have tried to stop the doe. And I also should not have tried to stop him as early as I did. Maybe louder but not until I jad a good shot angle. Hindsight 2020 I imagine.

    Always good to at least see something, gives you confidence in your judgement on where to set up. I was just thinking and I'd say end of Oct. beginning of Nov. mornings are always the best time to see bucks. Always see far more deer in the morning during those 3 or 3 1/2 weeks around that time. Any other part of the season I'd say far more deer in the evenings. Looks like this series of videos are going to be very action packed, already off to a good start.

      Thanks man it's my best stuff yet I think. Next one drops tomorrow morning. And so fourth. Total of 5 videos. I was definitely on action. The chasing just happens so quick it's so difficult to get on film sometimes. But they were everywhere around me.

      @@TheWaterHopper Looking forward to seeing the next videos. Going to go out myself this afternoon so off to get ready. Been seeing deer around 2:30 to 3:30 on my cameras so want to get out a bit earlier tonight.
