As the Gears Turn - moving on from the Miata.
Просмотров 333 года назад
The Miata is a great enthusiast car and a surprisingly livable daily driver, if you're willing to put up with a lack of space...so what do you replace it with when a baby arrives and you need something practical for the whole family, but still decently fun?

I'd been having ignition issues for a long time, and decided to swap out the ignition coil - a stock unit - with a high performance one I had laying around. INSTANT change! The Z runs better than it ever has, all the way up to 6500 RPM. Maybe I SHOULDN'T sell it!
1936 DeSoto Airflow S2

A 1936 DeSoto Airflow S2 brought from Oregon to California. It later sold on eBay and has been making the rounds with different dealers. This is one of only 4,970 DeSoto Airflows built in 1936, making it fairly rare for a car of any era. I kinda wish I'd bought it myself.

Im trying to find a factory police interceptor console like this but dont know where to find it. Any ideas?
There were two factory setups, one very similar to the standard Taurus console which you see on my car, and a truncated version to allow for modular aftermarket center consoles designed for siren controllers, radio head units, etc. You can try pulling a Taurus console from a junkyard, it'll likely work just fine. You'll have a hole where the shifter goes.
Thank you amigo, really appreciate you
Thank you this worked for me 99 Camry LE 2.2 thought I'd mention on install usually sensor doesn't come with gasket can thread tape it, and when installing do not tighten with tool there's a threshold you will break sensor if you try to wrench tighten can get seated with just your hand, Hopefully this continues to hold up so far a godsend also order online parts are 2 to 3 times as much at store
Thanks, your tip was the fix!
Hello can you tell me the name ò the part .Thank
My is idling low. At 100rpm at idle . What can it be.??
What’s the sensor next to it called the grey one?
Im going to try it tomorrow aee what happens i clean throttle body still high rpm
Hey AJ, what if im getting a p0115 code, but the car is showing no symptoms? Should i start with replacing the sensor? Also if i change the sensor, do i have to drain the coolant? Same car 98 camry 2.2
Great information
When I unplugged my connector car wouldn’t start what does that mean? My engine coolant sensor needs to be replaced?
What's the size of the screws you take off? I'm trying to buy a socket for that.
genial amigo, esa fue la solucion a mi problema¡ mil gracias
Thanks for this useful info!
Very good advice. I have a 2001 model and it's literally the best running car I've ever owned
Just got message from RUclips that the server just timed out of this video & related topic
Reported that I couldn't like this video to RUclips & now all of a sudden the the like(👍 thumb is up now) so be on the watch out for this
Tried clicking a like to this video & wasn't able too
97 Camry high idle when I drive it for 30 minutes if i put in reverse to park it dies then it wont start I have to wait when it cools down it want to start though so mechanic was busy shop so he said clean the throttle body and idle air control I did it did the same thing idle actually got higher then I did what you did 25 dollar I fixed it if I let the.mechanic fix it it would of cost 500 dollar until if they got it right thnk you I saved 500 dollar thanks again usually other youtubers leads you astray not you
This video might have just saved my ass. I've been trying to hunt down the cause of my high/bouncing idle on my '88 MR2. I've replaced vacuum lines, cleaned the throttle body and IACV, adjusted the TPS, bled the coolant several times, installed some new gaskets, and more with no luck. I heard about the coolant sensor being a potential issue, but ignored it at first becasue I had no idea where to locate it on my car. Went to inspect it just now and the conductor end has completely disintegrated. Unplugging the sensor brought my idle down to 900 from 1200 before (but with a CEL of course). Anyway, I am excited that it may just be a $12 sensor for me to finally get this annoying issue resolved. Thank you so much for this really quick and concise video. Wish I had seen this earlier... as it seems idle issues like this exist on basically all Toyota models from the 80s-00s.
5 years and 125k views later, and this video is still saving people time and money! I wish all of my videos were like this! Glad I could help, good luck with the MR2!
@@colhunt76 Thanks! While the coolant temp sensor did help regulate the idle slightly and was definitely in need of being replaced, i finally tracked my issue down to leaky fuel injector seals. I was already pretty fed up with the car at that point and didn't want to tear down a bunch of the engine again just to replace those seals, so I actually sold the car a while ago.
Do you still make these?🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Are you still making these? I have been trying to find that piece forever!
Sorry, it appears that they're out of production. I have a link in the description to the original sale on PayPal, you may be able to contact the seller that way.
I replaced the sensor and it still high idles but if I take off the connector while it is running and it idled back down to 750 rpm like normal the moment i plug it back in straight up to 2100 rpm (i checked the new sensor resistance spec and it matches and is working as expected)
WOW! 👏👏 That was totally it, thank you, sir. I love RUclips.
Thank you..
Good to know , thanks 🙏
Would this help a 2002 camry XLE 4 cylinder?
I don't understand why he leaves the overdrive lever out, why not just make overdrive the default? I wonder why he didn't demo the OD?
Thank you my love you ❤️
What if it's revving up and down?
I disconnected mine while car running now it’s giving me a code for it. Will it clear itself
watching this 2022. this really helped and saved me a lot of time and money
Would low rpm hesitation be symptom of a bad sensor ???
Going for a ride doesn’t show much of a car. At the rate you shift gears the transmission will not last long. It would have been quite nice had you shown the interior, the engine and a quick walk around. NO, you decided to display your lack of driving skills with a stick shift. By YOUR abilities, I realize you were not raised driving a straight shift vehicle. You need lessons in the worst way. You need to learn how to do a video to display the ENTIRE VEHICLE!
Hello good afternoon AJ I just saw your videos and I just want to see where exactly did you get that part for the Ford Taurus? I know you mentioned you got it from reckless Ford I typed it in and it doesn’t show up. Can you please send me a link I definitely would like to get that part for my car as well. Thank you.
When you say unplug do you mean simply unplug the electrical or unplug and remove the sensor as well?
Just unplug the green electrical connector from the sensor to test it, not the sensor itself. The connector will come loose by pushing the tab on the side and pulling away from the sensor body.
Nice job. Great to know I'm going to try it.

I work on all my cars, I have a 90 corvette zr1 and a 96 corolla, I’ve been to hell and back trying to fix this problem, you showed me how to fix it in 5 minutes lol thabkyou
when i unplugged the coolant temp sensor the car cranked then started for a sec then died. I plug it back in and its cranks good, its just a low idle and rpms jump when in drive or reverse
what about if its a really now idle, do i do the same thing?
Great tip Thank you..Just unplugged and ran well again..I'm off to the parts store..Thanks again

Thanks for sharing!
I did remove the tempt sensor socket ....still high...but when i remove the iacv socket...the idle back to normal....clean eveything already...
Good job
Where can I find a whole console? I've looked everywhere!
guess he didnt see your comment...
For both water temperature sending units, I remember having a hard time getting the thermostat to read accurately, so I replaced both water temp senders, and even the water neck they go into, and the temp reader on the bottom of the radiator. Even after all of that, the reader kept reading high near overheat. Then, after changing the car battery, I realized the cooling fans turned on in intervals again, without the AC, and being unplugged. Also, if a sales rep selling the temp sending reader says you can put these temp sensors straight on the water neck without a washer, ignore it, and get the washer anyway. The sensor will melt on the water neck if applied directly...
