hey, this is a really well made video and i agree with the general order of the rankings but just wanted to share some thoughts i had :) i think that the merging of bosses with their dream/pantheon/harder versions of themselves is an ill thought out decision that subtracts from this list for a few reasons. the lumping of two versions of the same boss that are almost objectively in different leagues of quality makes the placement of the inferior version feel forced for the sake of the superior version. take grimm/NKG for example- i can say with confidence that many people would agree regular grimm is not a top 3 boss of this game, and it feels like he is only there for the placement of NKG who imo is well ranked on this list. this logic also works the other way around too. you hit the nail on the head with the winged nosk description, even going as far as saying it's an 'objectively inferior' boss to regular nosk. in that way it doesn't make sense for winged nosk, who realistically should be somewhere in the low 30s or high 20s, to be 13th place-feels like it's only there because of the regular version of nosk. not saying it's objectively wrong to merge bosses, or that you can't do it, it's just that it raises some inconsistencies within the list that are valid to be challenged. but don't get me wrong this was a great video- i think the way you display your understanding of the lore in the boss intros is a great touch. and the section on THK was amazing- THK's moveset reflecting the themes of the boss was a really interesting interpretation that i've never seen before. hope u have a good day

6:30 its not beating the vessel that makes the infection spread its getting the wings, which stops the wind in the background from blowing. this lets the infection spread out of the basin this still does not explain why city of tear did not get infected but maybe there was some vent like tunnel it went through idk

I keep coming back to hollow knight, I love the exploration, the environment, the music, getting lost in the world. While I've never advocated for easy mode in a game before but I'd love to see it in hollow knight. I'm not talking about everything in the game, I get that the devs have tailored a lot of the true ending and DLC to higher skill players, what I'd like to see is just a slight adjustment to how brutal the difficulty spikes are early on to keep people from putting the game down. All the content creators for this game I can find, are posting hitless and speed runs, while most of my friends list has never beaten the game. I want more people to be able to pickup this game and the next one, but if the devs keep tailoring difficulty towards the content creators and die hard high skill fans, it comes at the expense of a larger community.

I have to say, I really disagree on Uumuu. I think that the Godhome version of the fight is even worse than the normal one. The normal Uumuu fight's only redeeming quality is the fact that Quirrel helps you; one of my favourite things about Hollow Knight is that despite how desolate and bleak Hallownest is, nearly everyone you meet is pretty friendly, and Quirrel helping you fight Uumuu to make it to Monomon as a main part of your quest is one of my favourite examples of it. The Godhome version strips the Uumuu fight of the one good thing about it and, in the process, replaces it with something that makes the fight itself even worse. Sure, waiting around for Quirrel to make your opening isn't exactly engaging, but in the Godhome version, you're doing just as much waiting, waiting for the ooma, and at least when Quirrel does make your opening, you're actually *getting* the opening. When Uumuu finally summons the ooma and you're finished waiting for the ooma to actually get in a position where you can hit it, your opening isn't even guaranteed; with the scattered placement of the platforms and Uumuu's own movements, it's very possible for the ooma to just hit a platform and accomplish nothing, meaning you have to wait even more for another one to show up.

i'm going to share some thoughts as i watch - i loved the section with Crystal Guardian remake XD it's absolutely hilarious, but also a bunch of cool ideas. at least in their current state CGs are two free radiants in Godhome - jeez I HATE UUMUU, i agree with everything you've said. one of the most important points in game turned into a mediocre platforming challenge, which not even Quirrel could save. and the radiant fight, don't get me started on the radiant fight- harder than Pure Vessel ngl - Marmu is fun until she steals all of my lifeblood in P5 - No Eyes loses points when you have to replay her. the atmosphere is chilling for the first time, but unbelievably annoying later. and since she likes to teleport out of range in ascended arena, the fight drags on. No Eyes might be my least favorite boss in the game - now that's a placement i disagree with, i can't find anything good about Markoth - in my opinion, the setup makes Nosk much more disappointing. we had all of this amazing buildup only to end up with a cheesable, boring fight. and Winged Nosk is just a janky Vengefly King. i would put them lower - your description of the Pale Court pulled a string within me, nice narrating - Radiance is decent, but i can't enjoy Absrad. the Godseekers took a majestic, powerful entity which could not be bothered to unleash its full power on the player, and just ramped up the speed. and obviously, her placement is annoying but it also ruins other fights, as they become nuisances and obstacles on your path to have a shot at Absrad. i get Pantheon 5 is supposed to be a challenge, but it's not a good approach. i wasn't proud of myself i defeated P5, i was glad i got forgiving RNG and the suffering was over (and i forgot to equip Shaman Stone, so i needed it a lot oops) - Sisters of Battle is such an addicting fight. NKG and Hollow Knight might have better lore and feel, but in terms of pure fun Mantis Lords easily stand on top - as much as Hollow Knight and Pure Vessel are masterpieces, nothing beats the intro to NKG. the whole sequence with the bleeding heart is fantastic, and a full screen title card is the cherry on top, just to confirm you're absolutely screwed. shame Godhome couldn't replicate it it was such an enjoyable watch, i love your voiceover!!

For people who dislike the fight against the crystal guardian because its too basic, the crystal machinist mod gives you what it could have been.

I would swap Traitor Lord with Broken Vessel. I think Traitor feels kind of simple and soulless compared to the Vessel or Lost Kin

I feel kingdoms edge definitely feels like the catch-all location for stuff that didnt fit elsewhere that it was when developing the game. It has so much stuff in it, but the area itself still feels empty, like those things in it are more so side areas than the actual kingdoms edge. I mean, colloseum of fools and the hive could go basically anywhere with no changes on the interior. I honestly remember it as being an empty wasteland when i dont think about it, probably because the empty wasteland part is where you're likely to enter it from.

Absolutely incredible video about an absolutely incredible game, but while is love the hollow knight to no extent, my personal favorite fight is the Failed Champion, and here's why: 1: it's a remake to an already incredible fight. 2: the fight is awesome, its so fast but also so simple, letting the player learn the fight and easily and still feel cool doing it. Incorporating the ceiling balls into the fight just adds so much too. 3: the OST is cool, its a cool OST. 4: the pathetic maggots leaning over the corpse adds so much moral depth to what your doing and to what you're about to do, invade their literal minds and slaughter them from within. 5: the lore of the false knight (which is incredible) gets added to, making one of my favorite video game stories ever outside the souls games. 6: The lesson we as people learn, the False Knight stealing the power of the strongest of the knights, and still failing. There is just so much you can make out of this, a social hierarchy, hate crimes, bullying, I feel like I can actually relate to this insect, and that this insect can relate to my life. 7: Did I mention the actual fight, its absolutely incredible and my favorite in the entire game bar none.
