The Jidoka concept
Origin and Evolution of Jidoka
The roots of Jidoka can be traced back to Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of Toyota, who applied this principle in his first automatic loom. The loom was designed with a feature that automatically stopped the machine if a thread broke during weaving. This allowed workers to correct the problem immediately rather than continuing to produce defective fabric. By introducing this automated quality control, Toyoda ensured that defects were caught early, minimizing waste and enhancing efficiency.

It made sense to him to identify one place where his team and experts would regularly meet with each other to discuss concepts, so that he (and his team) could make better decisions.     Why each failure mode is scored in the areas of FMEA on a scales from 1 to 10 or from 1 to 5? Is there any resources of these areas (S, O, D) to get the score of it?

      Hi, The scoring in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) was developed by the United States military in the 1940s. The 1 to 10 scale in FMEA scoring is used to enable a consistent and detailed assessment of risks. Although the 1 to 10 scale is often used in FMEA, there are also variants that use a 1 to 5 scale. This depends on the preferences and needs of the organization implementing the FMEA. The choice between a 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 scale depends on the specific context and requirements of the project or organization. Some organizations may start with a 1 to 5 scale for a quick assessment and then move to a 1 to 10 scale for a more detailed analysis. Both approaches are valid, and the choice should be based on what is most practical and useful for the specific application of FMEA.     Indonesian railway company also adopt this method. Probably bcz they're usig japanese commuter train, but this is a great practice. And railway in Indonesia has become one of the safest method of transport

      Hi, If you measure the output of your process in minutes then yes. So it depands on the definition of your measurement.
