Ok the constant vaccume goes to the heater and air conditioning line the allowed the vents to open for heat and a/c and the windshield defrost . The port on the carburetor that only has partial vaccume goes to the distributor advance and if they get turned around so the carburetor has constant vaccume it will cause the engine to run rough at idle speed and basically run like crap because the engine is getting more spark advance much to soon because the advance pot pulls the distributor plate to advance the ignition & it's stuck full advance and when the engine RPMs come up then the advance weights with the springs on them kicks in so the engine is at full advance all the time which isn't good & can cause a rough idle a hot running engine and even detonation that can melt spark plugs and burn holes in the tops of the pistons especially if you use the low grade unleaded 88 octane so you have to make sure that the partial vaccume goes to the distributor only . Now on full race engines that have the ignition fully locked to full advance usually those engines run high octane race fuel plus most guys run the MSD ignition that either retards the ignition on start up or turns the ignition off for a few seconds with no spark to let the engine crank over then it lights off the ignition so the engine starts easily because of the high compression that the starter has to overcome on these full race engines .
