Great informative video.Just attempted to hardwire my dashcam on 04 fiesta ghia uk.Fusebox layout same as yours used multimeter as shown but could not get a voltage reading. After pluging in piggyback cable with orig fuse and camera fuse as shown(Very sloppy fit) tried on hot...voltage on all the time and when only ignition on. Also the fuse socket you used, but to no avail. I can get readings which are great on all the sockets i tested but not when I used the piggyback cable, Im thinking the cable is faulty, bad connection. Any ideas?

Hi.. Just hard wired ma dash cam after watching this.. Good video.. Managed ok with the micro fuse socket and bought some mini fuses.. so job done and well pleased.. cheers..!

Thanks, just installed mine. I had 2 empty fuse spaces and used one of those. Only thing is power remains active to the dashcam when the engine is off. I tested multiple fuse spots and it was the same for all of them. This should not be a problem though since I remove the camera from the car when I'm not in it,, or will it slowly drain my battery despite no charging happening

Does it matter which way you insert the piggyback connector? I have inserted mine to my 12v lighter which is switched but when i insert the piggyback the dash cam powers up without turning the ignition.

Noticed the same roundabout on a couple of your vids (at about 1:41 )and it looks to me that the roundabout is the problem. Seems to be a problem seeing what is coming round it.

You don't need special trim tools to take off the A pillar, just use a flat head screwdriver with the tip being wrapped in some electrical tape to avoid damaging the plastic. The A pillar usually comes off very easy, just beware to not force anything if it doesn't want to budge. Also, beware if there are side curtain airbags present: be VERY careful otherwise the airbag might blow up into your face and seriously injure you. What I personally do is just lift the edge up of the A pillar far enough to tuck in the wire, and that's it. No wires to be seen at all. Furthermore, and I'm really surprised by the amount of people who don't know this, the rubber door seal can be easily removed by hand. It's not glued in or such, it just peals out with ease and can equally easy be put back into place. Underneath that rubber there's a big gap with plenty of space to hide the wire into. Ps: once that rubber is removed the A pillar pops out even easier. Just a useful tip that I'm giving to people who are clueless about that one. Cheers.

just a quick point. You're meant to fit the piggy back fuse link one way. the "tail" off it should be on the opposite side of where the power comes into the actual fuse. it's not a must but on some applications it will only work that way. Next Base are cracking dash cams. Remember to format the memory card every 4-6 weeks, this stops it building up corrupt files and keeps the sd card healthy. Good video bud

Cheers for the video. Don't replace your 12v socket, clean it using a Glass Fibre pen, you can pick them up for a couple of quid and they remove all the corrosion with just a little effort.

The majority of the videos I don't get - It is just nitpicking. You can loose you number plate - I drove myself for a week without a front license plate around. The 2 cars close, they might drove in a convoy - a stupid habit but some do it. You point out a black Astra what will tailgate you but then got overtaken by a black Corsa... A car with one light - how terrible - stuff never brakes, there is a reason why there 2 from everything if not even 3(brake lights).
