I joke around that 1-6 is the Skywalker story, but if you throw in 7-9, it’s the Palpatine story. Since we don’t pick up his on-screen story until he’s in his 50’s, yes, I think fans would enjoy seeing a backstory.

It’s ironic because one could say he was the final tipping point for Anakin falling to the dark side. Lots of layers to that onion though.

@@padawanpops yeah and I think that was the one moment that mace maybe went a bit too close to the dark side, so I agree it is ironic that that's was the straw that broke the camels back for anakin

Yeah 7 played it safe, which I actually thought was a smart move hopping back in to the franchise, but not having a plan for a trilogy is insane to me. I really like most of the Disney+ shows though. More hits than misses for me there, though there still are some big misses.

I thought 7 was fun, but it did go downhill from there for me.

I don’t think the issue with the Sequel is woke writing, I just think it’s the fact that they somehow decided to make a SW trilogy with zero planning. Still blows my mind that they didn’t plan that thing out

Don't forget, when snoke says that there has been an awakening in the force, at this point rey hasn't shown any sign of force sensitivity. If only they'd stuck with that rather than giving us Mary-Sue Shitetalker.

@@padawanpops My biggest pet peeve is her apparent skill level. Luke spent a couple of months training with Yoda, and lost every one on one duel he had on screen until *checks notes* oh, wait. Never. Rey, on the other hand, picks up a lightsaber, has a freaky vision, then drops it. The next time she gets her hands on it she outclasses KyLo FrEaKiNg ReN? Just... no... Not to mention perfecting the Jedi mind trick without knowing it exists, how it works, or even what the force is. A little precognition I could accept, an exceptional talent for a sport normally unplayable by humans, great, being super empathic without realising how? Maybe. But not the more niche stuff like that. That's just... bloody silly.

@@eddyblackmore4188 yeah the whole ST feels rushed and poorly planned out to me. 7 and 8 take place over the course of days to weeks with only a year between them and 9. That’s a whole lot of character development happing at a pace that doesn’t necessarily line up…

I said nothing about the new duels, just the Prequel duels. You don't think Duel of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes are the best duels? I agree that the new lightsaber duels are at the bottom of the list.
