I would have advertised for salvage of doors, woodwork and old fixtures, require interested parties to sign an insurance waiver , then donate any proceeds to habitat. Unfortunately, there any many more abandoned farmsteads than there are takers. Not everyone wants the hassles of the countryside. I am not particularly fond of the American four-square. They are all over the heartland. The only house design I despise more is the split ranch.

Sad. Very sad!! A historic site was destroyed because someone said it was deemed un-liveable, but it was 100 years old so burn it down?!?!? People don't know value or worth unless it gets deposited into their bank account.

My question is why on earth did they remove the kittens without the mother???? Now the mother is refusing to leave the garage and no one is trying to get her out! I would not have started the fire until mama was with her kittens!! Mama will die in that garage thinking her kittens are in there!!! Does anyone know if she was rescued?

I couldn't help but notice that you just decided, on a whim, to burn down the house, and within a few minutes, the Fire Department had it burning. Practice burns are usually something planned months ahead of time, while burning old homes for renewal is a deliberate process, of salvaging historic items, then carefully burning the house in stages, with appropriate resources in place, for safety. What you did should get both you and the Firefighters arrested. !!

I know this was 2 years ago, but there was so much wonderful antique and vintage salvage in there. All the other items from the garage and house that could have been donated to charity. Waste not, want not.
