I think we need top normalize gacha games straight up buffing older characters. Sure, it makes sense for there to be some power creep in onder to make new characters more appealing. But there is no particular advantage in making older units feel like crap after a while. (Even if it takes a year or two) I think buffing older characters to make them relevant again, even if not quite on the same level as the newest shiny toy, would only benefit most games - especially when reruns are a thing.

I think the "we need 3 good teams for deadly assault" is bait. Reality is we only need 6 stars for all the polychrom so it's fine to vertically invest in two teams.

Actual clown take from Kettei and about Miyabi. You can boil all Genshin characters down to "spam basic attack, press E, and press Q" but LESS BUTTONS TO PRESS does not mean LESS SKILL NEEDED. Healers in FFXIV, the most important role for Savage and ultimate raids have TWO damage buttons, but it's keeping uptime of damage while healing everyone that makes a good healer or not. Tanks do not have as complex "buttons to press" than DPS classes, but still have a considerable amount to do. Are they "less skilled"? What about Black Mage, that can be played on one hand? It's the most difficult job by far but "less buttons" means less skill expression, right? Stupid. Just because a character, class, or job has "less business/jank" doesn't mean that it's less skilled. Straight up dummy. There's games that are extremely difficult on the NES and SNES but I guess they are all "low skill" according to this logic. Hell, I guess every turn based game ever is "low skill" because it doesn't have busy-ness and jank to it, right? Actual clown shit.

Nahhh I'm glad her hold attack takes your control away from her for that long, that's when you switch off of her and you can do your thing with those characters while Miyabi is locked in. It's even more extreme than Yanagi's basic attack endings, which already gave a good chunk of time to have 2+ characters onscreen doing moves at the same time. It's literally the best part of her kit and I want as many characters as possible to have long animations you are encouraged to switch off of like that. Less characters like Jane Doe where she's a one-man army please... having stuff like Miyabi does is how chars who want field time should be handled
like u can swap characters ppl forget that in miyabis long animations ur supposed to SWAP. not everything has to be hard to play to be good... "easy to use, but fun can also be good" not everything needs to be "hard to master not everyone can nolife the fuck out of games" it's also a damn phone game u cant make it to complicated it also just feels a certian someone just wants to trash talk miyabi as much as possible for no reason at all. like her or not, but she's a BIG win for zzz people literally started to play because of her alone so many content creators blow up right now thanks to her as well. just have fun fricken fun hahahaha
i hate this "skill expression" bs from ppl that nolife games... things can be simple but also fun... not everything needs to be "hardcore" the majority of every gaming community is fricken casual... just bcz u want it hard does not mean everyone wants it or has the time to learn all that stuff.
miyabi is the second most skill expressive agent in the game, only behind yanagi tbh. ALG was talking fcts here
the simple fix for people wanted their favorite agent to be relevant is unironcally going with HI3rd route, bringing back the same agent but its upgraded, its my unpopular opinion but i actually liked their way of dealing with it. Sure they overdid it, but it really did made a lot of real fans of that game get really attached to the characters. ZZZ can definitely do the same thing, but tuned down a tad bit. Also they casually admitted sharing accounts at the end isnt that against TOS?
I think one of the biggest issues with Ketteis Miyabi "skill expresion argument" is that is followed by the most basic mistake a Miyabi user can make wich is to not switch Miyabi during her chareged attacks, thats Miyabi 101. So once you say something that sounds as ignorant as "you sit there and watch 10 seconds animations" withouth any conditional (like for example: "when you play her solo") then it buries the merits his point has. On top of that it sounds a little hypocritical when his aparently favorite agent is overtuned by virtue of being an M6, so how much of Ligthers hidden tech he has to actually employ? and how much of it is just "ora ora when bar full"?

Re the section about powercreep: Tbh I think their smartest recent move was Sunday, who dug Jing Yuan out of the dustbin of history and made him great. They've shown that they are willing to create situations where older characters can shine and buff older DPS with new supports. Witness Jing Yuan and Sunday, Clara is massacring the new PF format, and Fugue is insane with Himeko. If they keep doing that kind of thing, they won't have to creep as much on the DPS while still making a great case for their new favorite. I know a non-zero number of people who pulled for Sunday specifically because he would help their Jing Yuan come off the bench finally.
15:38 i dont agree with this take honestly. Venti is still the best grouper in the game, zhongli is still the best shielder in the game and raiden is still a great dps while also offering supportive capabilities. While there are better anemo/geo/electro characters in GI those 3 are still the best in theire respective niches. Hoyo literally makes every enemy nowadays heavy because venti was too op and made all groupable content trivial, zhongli still has the strongest shield in the game even if xilonen powercrept him in terms of dmg buffs and support and raidens energy generation for the team is second to none while still contriputing a significant portion of her teams damage. All in all the archons are still incredibly strong characters in their niches and havent really been powercrept within those niches
After getting Yanagi when I lost the 50/50, I tried to get Lighter, but also lost that 50/50, and didn't have enough chromes to get him, so I had to skip him

Not Ketei with these L takes. Talking about “the fastest runs” being with Nicole without any backup and using data from 1.1 where all we had were trash mobs on endgame.
If they make every new DPS just as strong or stronger then Miyabi, this game is going to either become even less F2P Friendly or ruin the improvements they’ve made to expand upon the combat and difficulty. I imagine they would wait on giving us another unit like her until like 2.0. My hope also is that characters that push the ceiling like her won’t always be as easy as simple as her too
I will say tho, power creep is inevitable in this genre if the devs aren’t open to buffing characters or providing other ways outside of mindscapes to make them stronger. Like I definitely except DPS units that release a year or so from now to be stronger than Miyabi but how they present that strength is what’s the most important I believe. It’s important for it to happen too because you don’t want stagnation to occur in a live service environment either.
@@SolessSolXS this is a bit long sorry😅 powercreep is inevitable 100% but they can really make it unnoticbale/not a big problem by 1) NOT making miyabi the new baseline for dpses, that'll lead us to the same path as hsr instead if she can be the ceiling it will be nice like if she and all other void hunters are the ceiling for dpese/supports that'll make sens lorewise and help with powercreep. 2) buff old agents on they'r reruns it doesn't have to be something crazy just increasing some multipliers or adding a new special move/mechanic is more than enough it helps revert and remove powercreep and its a nice way to insentivize the players to pull on rerun banners and seeing as they did add new moves to some agents in the lost shadows gamemode i have hope that zzz would be the first hoyo game to buff old agents (i'am an ellen main i'am coping hard)
@ I agree! My hope is that Miyabi will be the ceiling but I understand that ceiling will only be temporary since they have to balance the fact that they can’t make characters too in depth to maintain the casual audience but they still need to find ways to make characters feel strong and worth while pulling for. I also agree that they can buff old units up as I believe games like PGR have done this for their units in the past. There’s honestly no excuse for them to not do so, it just seems like they don’t want to
@@SolessSolXS yeah tbh there is no excuse for not buffing old agents as you said pgr and a lot of other gacha games do buff old units and that helps even with keeping casual players whom might just wanna stick to their comfy units since they will always be relevent if they're getting buffed soo they don't need to learn more complex units or mechanics if they don't want to And even if the ceiling is temporary its better than having no ceiling at all besides if they buff old units it would make the constant rising of the ceiling less of a problem since even if let's say they released an agent that powercreeps all other agents it won't be a problem for long cause thoes powercrept agents will be buffed, like if the ceiling got way higher just raising the baseline fixs it After playing hsr for more than a year i think the zzz dev team can learn how to deal with powercreep from seeing the mistakes the hsr dev team made and avoiding it (sorry that this is long again😅)

As somebody that lost my 50/50s in the past to an avalanche of Koleda, I would be *very* pleased to have a reason to use her. Evelyn; it's your move! (But I'm very fond of my current Miyabi x Yanagi x Casear trio as my main for now).

When you do the hold basic attack for Miyabi, just switch characters after you release and the animation is playing. That way you're not just doing nothing.

I was surprised by how simple Miyabi was but the actual fun/ interesting stuff with her is swapping to others while cashing out her damage tbh
I don't agree that power creep is "necessary", if Miyabi were just as good as Ellen I'd still feel compelled to pull for her because I like her personality/design. ZZZ especially has a lot of potential to just release characters that are fun or just give you a new way to play. I do think power creep is useful for the company because obviously, it drives people to buy characters they otherwise wouldn't be interested in. But as for me, I'll continue to pull purely for characters I like or find fun to play.
People are misunderstanding, it wasn’t about what’s good for the game, it was a financial business decision. ZZZ since launch has underperformed hoyo expectations, there’s even talk that Miyabi was supposed to be a 2.0 but they bumped her up. They gave us miyabi and free Harumasa to entice new players
Personally I find it really funny that hours after I had decided that I wanted to get Rina to m6 eventually the separate decibel change was leaked because she's really strong and fun with the new changes. She's always switching in so she's gaining charge and her ultimate is a damage and energy dump that switches straight into a DPS
So we started with 3 Physical attacker and 1 anomaly, got an Anomaly and Defence so far Fire, we started with an Support, Defence, attacker and Stun, got a stun and anomaly(for the full set), will be getting Attacker Ice, We started with a Support and Stun, got an Attacker and Anomaly. Electric, We started with a Stun, Attacker, Support and Anomaly, Later got Stun, Defence, Attacker and Anomaly. Ether, we started with a Support, got an Attacker and will get a Support Will be nice to get the missing types we are missing, Very much hope for some more Physical or Ether stuff, Physical more so because Jane and Caesar are so fun

I have Lighter M1... and he is one of my mains along side of Yanagi and Miyabi. I have a few maxed out supports too: Seth Lucy Soku/Soukoku
I kinda want to push back against Kettei's claim of Miyabi having no skill expression. I may be thinking of this differently than he is, but I believe the skill expression for Zenless comes from how you manage your loadout, team, and energy rather than how much "hidden tech" there is to a character. I try to avoid following online guides for how to build characters because, to me, it's more fun to figure out on my own how to put together the right loadout and rotation to maximize my team's synergy. Sure, you *can* spam and hold down the enhanced basic for Miyabi to win, but there's so much room to improve her gameplay loop beyond this. It inadvertently became a fun challenge for me to figure out how to use my other agents to further enable her dominance. I managed to greatly lower my overall time in a few Shiyu stages by quickswapping Grace so rapidly, she ended up getting just as many Disorders as Yanagi.

I understand not biting the hand that feeds you, so I will respect the community leader’s wishes. But I also get how trying to talk around the leaks feels gross and disingenuous, and how it seems like some partners are getting away with discussing leaks while others are too uptight about leaks.

Exactly, no need to watch Miyabi's charge attack animation. And if dude gets bored watching ultimate animations, build Rina, Nicole, or Burnice who all allow swapping during their ult
I can agree Miyabi on her own feels simple to use, but using her with the whole team felt way more engaging to me than any other until now... I use her with Yanagi and Rina/Caesar and keeping track of buffs, fallen frosts, anomalies and disorders was overwhelming at first granted I'm more of a casual player but really fun and engaging once I got the hang of it, so much so I keep redoing shit I already completed, just for fun (I usually just get the tapes and get out), I even wanted to train rotations and get a little sweaty with her teams, which is unusual for me too

I appreciate that y'all took some time to talk about how lore *DOES NOT* translate to in-game strength, and how powercreep doesn't play into that. It harks back to HI3 days, where Void Kiana was considered the strongest character in game, then Rita came out as a solid side-grade not a patch later. People are too worried about powercreep, in my opinion. Like, what are you gonna do? *Not* pull for a character because they're *too* strong? FOH with that lmao. That's how these games work, we gave the okay as soon as we clicked "Agree to All". Besides, I suspect Hoyo will take the HI3 approach to balance, since this game is most comparable to that over Genshin imo. Not every character was stronger than the last, notably so in some instances, even now with part 2 characters being so much more powerful than early part 1 units. In addition, valkyries would get equipment that brings them up as time goes on, and even buffed up older units that could be obtained for free so they could hold up in Elysian Realm (HI3s SU/HZ). Hoyo was smaller then, so things aren't the same, but I'm not worried about powercreep in ZZZ.

@TheRoleplayer40k true, but when has this ever *not* been on the table? That's why I'm not worried about it, I don't sink tens of hours and 100s of dollars into these characters. I understand that for some people, it's closer to a job than a game, but the point remains.
The concern isn't that a character is too strong. It's that, BECAUSE a character is so strong, the devs will warp the game around that character, making everyone else nearly or completely unusable. That's why people are worried about powercreep.
@@LordlyWeeb yeah, that's a fair concern. We see it in Star Rail, sure, and I think it's a fair concern there. Again, though, I hark back to HI3 and it's balancing, where characters could be strong for the sake of it, but things didn't drastically spike in power every patch. Supports were released alongside DPS, but character kits mattered more than how much damage they could do. Not everyone was meant to be a DPS, and I think (hope) that remains true here. Of course, this was in a much more competitive game, and people optimize the life out of characters now, so it could go either way.
“Skill expression” in a single player game
You can just animation cancel into the next character tho. You don’t have to sit there and watch the animation
