The Teaching Legacy of the Clachaig skull
The Hunterian museum at the University of Glasgow is home to thousands of artefacts. Individual objects vary from roman coins to modern medical equipment. As well as being interesting, the objects in the museum are used by experts from different subjects to teach students, conduct research, and learn more about the world.
In this video we are taking one example to show you the different ways in which people who work in a university can use the same object in a museum to teach and learn. It’s a skull from Arran that is 4500 years old.

    The presentation is good. But the way she read out all the quotes / remarks from other authors, I thought she was going through someone's research paper or dissertation paper. She has lot more way to improve presentation.

    Can emergent themes contradict each other?

    • @nicolekipar5583
      @nicolekipar5583 4 года назад

      That's a very interesting question, because if this happens it should lead you to investigate this seeming contradiction further: is it really a contradiction? Or is an unconscious researcher bias at play? Are you able to seek further data that investigates this seeming contradiction? I would do the latter if possible.

    • @aprlvf
      @aprlvf 4 года назад

      Nicole Kipar Thank you for your reply! This means a lot.

    • @aprlvf
      @aprlvf 4 года назад

      Nicole Kipar It is interesting that you mentioned researcher bias because I admit that one of the contradicting themes is really my bias prior to even conducting the research. I understand what you said about investigating the seeming contradiction and I found out that there could be a plausible explanation why these contradicting themes emerged (aside from bias), unfortunately I would find out if my hunch is correct during my defence. Thanks for your help 🙏

    • @amyjackson1335
      @amyjackson1335 2 года назад

      the same dilemma here- 'unconscious researcher bias' guilty - but as long as you are aware of your own bias and explain it... it should be fine - well, will let you know after my Viva:)
