Somewhere within the amorphous blob of flesh and misery, Varik could notice the sound of someone screaming. He walked over to it, and when he tried to listen harder, the sound of ripping sinew and snapping bones could be heard, getting closer to escaping the sickening mass. He quickly stepped away just in time to see a bloody hand shoot out of the Id, ripping it like a cloth sack from the front to the back, with a blood curdling shriek that died down as the monster crawled out of its prison. _Why does it smell like burnt meat?_ Varik pondered, but he soon realized: it was the temperature of the freakish form he was watching. He was radiating such immense levels of heat that he’d cooked the Id, his prison, from the inside. “V-...Variik.” The bounty hunter, realizing just how hot it had become around him, stared at a vague shape of the man he'd been sent to kill. The glowing, smoky form struggled to even stand; whatever had gotten a hold of him was vaporizing his blood, frying flesh and separating tendons from their bones with a disgusting SNAP. _This isn’t even Andonuts anymore, is it?_ Varik asked himself, steeling himself against the heat. He could feel the sweat beading under his armor already. “Doctor Andonuts. You’re in there, aren’t you?” He yelled out, trying to walk slowly towards the inferno. “Don’t tell me Giygas already got to you. Makes this whole trip worthless.” Suddenly, as if angered, the charred monster rose into the air like a string on a puppet. Varik, unsure of the corpse’s motives, stumbled back, hand on his sword. “Varik. I have...” The doctor’s body started to almost fold in on itself, his skeletal system becoming nothing more than something to splinter and sever; what was left of his innards now could be heard squelching from the contortions before bursting with a wet pop. “I have HAD IT..." A large surge of flame and stench knocked Varik down, scorching any uncovered skin with a painful lick of blue flame. “WITH YOUR SHIT.” The hunter defiantly got back to his feet, and ignored the second degree burns on his arms and lower legs. Whatever this Giygas thing was, it wasn’t fucking around. “Have you now? Well, guess what. I’m not going home without my goddamn money. So you’d better be well and ready to die a second time.” The demon screamed again, its new form a twisted and demented variation of Doctor Andonuts; flesh made from broiled insides, a mustache of toasted bone and cartilage. _Great,_ Varik thought to himself. _Something I can kill._ “I”M GOING TO SHOVE YOUR HEAD SO FAR UP YOUR ASS THAT WHEN YOU-” “That when I crap, I’m gonna sing Beethoven? Yeah, I heard that one before. Get some new lines.” The fire surrounding the demon’s body seemed to glow even brighter. Varik took his sword from its sheath, and did his best to ignore the hellfire around him, threatening to melt the soles of his boots. “...E A T S H I T, V A R I K.” “Fuck yourself, you ugly bastard." And so they fought.
