Thank you! It helped me to figure out how to remove the side cover on the other side, which works the same. Behind it there was a paper tray spring (left side) which jumped off from that small plastic pin it is sitting on. As a result the gear did not connect the upper paper roller, so the paper was stuck there. Manually feeding paper still worked. That's how I figured out where the problem must be and tracked it back to the gear position, then to the small spring. This Brother printer is very easy to service. I'm not a technician and could still fix it myself at home with only a screwdriver. Excellent, perfectly serviceable printer design from Brother, we should allow only for products like this. - Never buy HP printers!
