    Just picked up a spare RB67 for $60 with a dead blackout panel too. Focus bellows are flawless and no other mechanical issues. It appears a component has become disconnected inside the mirror mechanism, I will be attempting to make a repair and possibly use it as a spare body.

He had three lenses: An Ultron 50/1.8, a Super Dynarex 135/4 and a 35/3.4 (I guess) Then I bought a Dynarex 90mm and a 200mm to complete the whole Icarex/Dynarex+Ultron line. I remember having enjoyed them very much. A couple of years ago I found an adapter in Spain, to use de Icarex lenses with EOS cameras and I made several pictures with these lenses. It´s quite fun and enjoyable. However, a step behind modern L primes. Thank you for this excellent video.

    I have been using it with a f/100, 5 or 6 with tmax 400 film at 250 iso. Moves the shadows off the toe so fabulous contrast in shadows then shorten developing 15% and get plenty of highlight detail I can work with to brighten the highlights with detail. The inter tonal detail on this super sharp fine grained film is stunning. It also produces a 3D like subject separation even stopped down to f/8 for environmental portraits. I love it for street with hp5 pushed to 1600 iso and shot at f/11 with zone focus, ie point and shoot.

    One of the unheritaled classic of lens design. It was Leitz first lens that incorperated the philosophy of ‘higher contrast for precieved better sharpness.’ It was basically the same design of the later M-series v3 50mm Summicron which used newly developed glass types which enabled the elements to be reduced from 7 to 6 elements (I don’t know if the Leicaflex version used those exact same glass types). What I like about the v1 50mm Sumicron for Leicaflex or the v3 50mm Summicron for M-series was it was sharp, a flat field with very good close focus correction, with higher contrast that was not over the top super high ‘modern’ contrast, and gives a very nice even look for B&W and a natural color rendition. Super well built mount and with the Leicaflex v1 Summicron able to focus closer than the v3 M-series RF (of course). With the ELPRO close focus lens group option it kept all the qualities. It can be prone to flare as you mention, it does have those early/mid 1960s lens coatings, but that can be just part of its beauty in use and can contribute some ‘character’ to the image.

    • @madmechanic7641
      @madmechanic7641 Год назад

      My advice (and I'm no expert but been doing it a long time) Shooting RAW gives you way more to play with in processing as files are 4,5 or 6 times larger so take up a lot more card space. Jpeg is handy but the camera does the compression so you can't manipulate image as much after shot.. Keep it up though.. Pete : )

    • @Digital_Photog1995
      @Digital_Photog1995 Год назад

      I always shoot in RAW, I process in Canon’s Digital Photo Professional (DPP) free program for Windows and MAC. More data in raw files then jpeg therefore more ability to recover highlight and shadow details.

    • @ShutterNChill
      @ShutterNChill Год назад

      I usually always shoot RAW and small jpg both. (You can shoot both with the 5D). I use the small jpeg to email or post on social media, and keep the raw so I can get the most out of it. 5D RAW has 4 bits more data than the jpg! (jpg is 8 bits.)That's tremendous addition to the dynamic rage that the jpg has, you can actually pull a ton of details from highlights and shadows or removing noise / sharpening if you need / want to. Plus, not just extra dynamic detail, but a whole lot more color information as well. While the files out of the 5D are straight up wonderful, but with editing you can get even more out of them - often quite a bit more! In the past I did not feel I needed the raw, but today the DPP/ Lightroom is so much better (and monitors as well!), and can pull so much more today from the raw than 10-15 years ago. I always regretted when I have shot only in jpg....

    I am using it with a 40mm 2.8 , it's my canon leica :P, the only thing though is that with film, I wait for the right moment or catch the right light, with digital i shoot more frames, it will spoil you a bit; but then again i can experiment more without being out of film.

      Yeah man , that’s the thing . I just had a look on kodak film on eBay . I don’t know if there is a shortage but prices are going up . I know the 5D is not film but … I’ll compromise 😂

    Love the 5D. I use one alongside my Fuji S5 Pro. Both have fantastic skin tones and colors, very filmic. The 5D has a much better menu system and better AF system, but the Fuji produces more pleasing photos IMO. But I love both.

      Yeah it’s still pretty great . I never had a Fuji anything so far but I have seen great stuff coming out of Fuji bodies …. tempted to get a GFX 🤓
