Why didn’t chinook provide covering fire during initial firefight? I know he’s got the capability. Why was Chapman moving off alone? Wasn’t there any type of surveillance on landing objective prior to insertion, we have the technology. I’m a former C-130 Loadmaster, 15 yrs. Have had many occasions to work with CCT/Pararescue (training) infil/exfil/aerial insertion & at least 1 actual combat insertion of a seal team.

What is assumed happened by other team members on record is that in the fighting , confusion and pitch black darkness, they had mistaken the already dead seal for Chapman and that’s what contributed to his “being left behind”. It’s also said and as can be seen here obviously he just went cowboy and charged the positions alone , when the idea was that Chapman and the others would secure a defensive position and then Chapman as the controller would call in air strikes. What I definitely wonder is , after realizing your all alone up there , in essence “ditched” , on top of a mountain in the freezing dark, what must be going on in your head , in the circumstances I would think I can’t believe I came back up here to save someone only to be left to die. Horrible sinking feeling

So not only did they leave but not like to a different spot to fight from a different angle they jst left never came bck he was there for hours I think the last shot literally says 1:40pm so they had more I mean MORE than enough time to reconsolidate after hearing additional fire they should’ve known it was chap fighting for his life but jst left him this is so shameful on so many levels I’m beyond pissed seeing this i understand things happen sometimes u can’t get every man out but this man was fighting for hours by himself which means they could’ve made they way bck up their nd fought I think legit wen they left they left completely probably hiked it out of there hours later was miles away instead of taking up different fighting positions tht wasn’t within grenade throwing distance cause tht was the problem they was to close to use their precision to their advantage nd they say the navy seal leader got a moh before him ? Tried to deny him of his ? I’ll strip tht moh off his damn chest nd give to chaps rife because they was the only two mtfs up there fighting tht day he should b stripped of his medal nd stripped of his title nd put bck on the damn ships cause obviously conducting a team under stress is not his job he wasn’t even leading the charge thts basic get off the plane u see u got no cover so first thing next ur head should b violence of action I can keep rambling all day on this it’s jst foul to see this nd knowing the outcome nd how they didn’t want to give him his medal gave the other guy one nd seeing on this footage he did nothing but follow chap up the hill then left him there shii they need to start checking mags after combat (idk if they do) but to see who was really fighting to see if they’re even cut for the job

The issue is, is they had a plan, and he rushed ahead...leaving the team behind. I'm not saying he isn't deserving of the medal, but it seems the communications are broken down during the op.

I was by my father and when I went to the Army. Never leave a man behind and never let them fight alone. Great job once again seals never seem to amaze me. Overrated always have been. Hollywood we would call them in the Rangers. Working with them was just seal this seal that. We would beat them in every challenge and they get so pissed. But anyways they were good guys at the end of the day.

The real MVP was the Team Leader. Since the drop Chapman rushed but workout TL it would have been different. Also heavy fire from all angles means it was no surprise attack/operation.

as a civilian, i think mr chapman went above and beyond. its an unreal testament to caring less about yourself, and more about your team, your friends, or your family..i cant even express in words how much respect i have for a man i will only know based on a video. if i could choose anyone to have my back, it would be John Chapman. John Chapman was a great warrior. He did receive the Medal of Honor. However, the video references him qualifying for 2 Medals of Honor. No one has received 2 Medals of Honor since the rules for awarding it changed in 1907. Only 19 Men are double recipients.

I guess they could've mistaken Roberts for Chapman.
