    What’s kinda cool is Rob Hordijk got to the same place in his analog modular by cross fading sin and cos Quadrature into feedback with (approximate) chebyshev shapers. For further band limiting, take 0.5* the output into two unit z-1 unit delays that sum to feedback. Cheers

      You have got my attention, thank you! This sounds like you are describing a 2-sample averager (In + In(z-1))*.5 If you are describing what I think then you are about to hear me mention them shortly, They are a very effective bandaid covering up a symptom of a problem: parasitic oscillation. But they induce a half sample of latency. I have recently started looking into dynamically reducing the feedback gains based on some logic, that way I'm not just settling with quitting after the 2 sample averager. The 2 sample averager is a great recommendation though I must thank you.

      People are requesting I make this project blocks compatible, but I am trying to do so without dropping features.. would making it blocks compatible make it more usable to you? If so I am curious how you would utilize the blocks modulation standard, I am wondering if I should remove the internal envelope generators, but I feel that leaving them there would save users time.

    • @erazeTHEborders
      @erazeTHEborders 28 дней назад

      @@Totokoi1 I think it's a great idea making it blocks compatible. It will open up a whole new world and you can reach more potential users. I'm guessing having the envelope generators would make the module more cluttered and maybe more complicated than it needs to be? In my opinion it would be totally finde to drop the envelope generators, as long as you are able to have patch points for other modulation sources. Also the original Reaktor file will still be there and usable for the ones that don't want to use it in the Blocks environment.

    • @Totokoi1
      @Totokoi1 27 дней назад

      @@erazeTHEborders that is a good point, how offensive would you find the GUI being a whole lot larger? I know it is OCD tiny as it is right now, but the biggest hold up with the blocks framework is the visuals: this is going to look SO UGLY for the first few iterations... I am considering dropping the envelope generators for Modulators A, B, and C I figure those are so cheap and capable they are there if you want to use them of not... Im using the ABCD version of the framework, so I will have 4 control signals as opposed the the standard AB. what would you hook uop to this thing if you had the choice?

    • @erazeTHEborders
      @erazeTHEborders 26 дней назад

      @@Totokoi1 I already kind of customized the GUI for my needs and spaced out most of the controls ;) So I would be totally fine with a larger GUI! In any way it is a complex beast and I'm wondering how it's possible to fit everything in a sleek GUI. Will probably take a lot of experimentation. I think it's a good idea to reduce it to the core function of what it does so you should leave out the envelope generators and focus on the modulators themselves. If you mean what kind of modulation sources I would use with it, I would go for the usual suspects: LFOs, envelopes and and sequencers. Having the option of 4 control signals would be totally amazing!

  • @erazeTHEborders

    Hey Evan, great progress with the project! Unfortunately I didn't have much time to play with it in the last few days. One thing I wish the instrument had, is a simple ADSR envelope for the oscillator. Do you think that could be implemented?

    • @Totokoi1
      @Totokoi1 Месяц назад

      Thank you so much!! I just added envelopes for the 3 modulators, the knobs immediately below M are M envelope amount knobs. I have just updated the user library file so if you download the recent one it will have enveloped modulators. the controls are on the B panel, (just right click on the panel and select View B). The envelopes are ADBDSR, for normal ADSR functionality you will want to use A, D2, S, and R. I could hide the D1 and Breakpoint knobs if you would like. If you set B to 0 the D should be a lot snappier than D2. (D is linear decay, D2 is exponential decay, B is the value at which Decay1 switches to Decay2 (so setting B to 0 bypasses Decay2, when B is set to 1 Decay1 is bypassed). Thanks for the tip I appreciate you saying something!

      Thank you so much! I will actually, probably sooner now that someone is interested. I want to include comments inside the core structure so someone could read what is going on and why. I will also be including an instructional video, there is a process I am using that will reliably get you 70% of the way to a polished sound. I think that makes the upload way more user friendly. • @erazeTHEborders
      @erazeTHEborders Месяц назад

      @@Totokoi1 that's very kind of you, thank you. I'm half way through the follow-up video and it's fascinating. I have to admit that I'm not the most experienced Reaktor user. I'm also totally untalented when it comes to building my own instruments/effects. However the possibilities with the vast amount of creativity in the User Library are really endless and I find myself going down this rabbit hole every once in a while. I mainly use Reaktor to generate soundscapes, weird tones, modulations and rhythmic patterns that I bounce out for my personal sample library. Some of those samples get incorporated into my music making process later on. So to be honest I can't really say if there are many sounds from my Reaktor explorations in my past music. But currently I've been enjoying it more and more so I'm pretty sure it will play a role in future releases. Concerning your question what I would like to see: Judging from your videos I guess everything is already there. The major unique thing with your ensemble is the crazy tones it can create. After that you can manipulate it in any way you want. You already implemented a basic filter, that's useful. Maybe some kind of basic modulation could be nice as well, but it's not really necessary.

    • @Totokoi1
      @Totokoi1 Месяц назад

      This thing is a testbed, not necessarily practical for musical performance (yet), but I already have working envelope and LFO modulators just not displayed. Those things are easy for me to add, I just wanted to reduce the number of knobs on the screen while I was screen recording. The Filter macro actually offers all of the TSK, Ladder, and 8pole Ladder in nonlinear forms, as well as the Butterworth 1 filters and nonlinear, resonant Butterworth 2 filters. Oh yeah and resonant Bessel filters so it looks pretty small but that should be pretty capable. I guess I didn't mention anything about the filter or Efflim LeBivic's beautifully anti-aliased distortion stages in the tiny middle panel. I have quite a few thoughts on the project, making it hard to articulate all of the details without taking all day. I just uploaded it to the user library in its current form, search "Phase Modulated Formant Oscillators" or search my name in the user library. I just added more features so I will be uploading a newer version to the library pretty soon.

    3rd split s was clean and well timed, first mailbox orbit was ultra clean. I’m also learning power loops right now too and I try to remember it’s not a discrete skill by itself, it works best when you’re carrying momentum through the loop. So like in sports you want to swing through the ball, for power loop you want to maintain forward motion coming out of the loop. I liked how snappy those later loops looked, visually. It’s quite a fun hobby, so long as I don’t break all my quads.

      Just fly 3 or 4 batteries doing only power loops everyday and you will get it down. Also I'm toggling Air mode on and off, Air mode can really mees with your backwards travel. This video is actually for a student I am teaching to fly.

    • @Totokoi1
      @Totokoi1 Месяц назад

      also, you don't want any forward momentum when entering the power loop because you want to travel backward(notice how I decelerate before starting to ascend). you can Accelerate forward when you are descending if you want speed when exiting. The reason I say you don't want momentum is that you have to cancel at least 100% of that momentum when you are at the top of the power loop (when your vector of thrust is pointing in the direction you were traveling). Also if you are still new at power loops practice them in front of a tall object (the tree I was flying in front of for example). The tall object gives you a point of reference when your camera would be otherwise looking at just the sky. If you are still having trouble with them I could look at the video of your attempt and tell you what would help. Powerloops are easy, but learning them is hard because often you can't get any useful information from your camera feed when staring at the sky. Let me know if I can help :)
