ESP LTD F-4 bass mahogany natural - Forget Me Nots (cover)
Been learning to parody a 1982 R&B classic song, using this ESP LTD F-4 bass. Got about half of the song learned, not including the ghost notes. Its dual humbuckers pack a lot of ballsy gritty sound. It's one of my favorite basses for rock or R&B music, since purchasing in early 2021 -- love it! Apologies for the poor cellphone sound quality.

Fender 75th Anniversary Jazz Bass - Quick Sound Demo
Просмотров 5903 года назад
Lovin' the metallic-gray jazz bass with its flatwound (smooth) strings which gives it a mellow, buttery sound that I love when parodying the "walking bass line" progression in this 1988 smooth jazz song. Just a quick sound demo of this wonderful axe. Fun stuff!
Jasmine by Takamine S35 - acoustical version of Sailing - Christopher Cross guitar cover
Просмотров 2844 года назад
Here's an acoustical version of a 1980's classic with a Jasmine good value "beater" guitar (~ $100 usd)! The guitar does not have an installed factory pickup system, so I bought on-sale a $30 Fishman single-coil pickup that clips right on the guitar's soundhole, along with leveraging the generous use of a BOSS chorus CE5 effects pedal maxed out. The backing track used was from a gal who did a n...
SQUIER FENDER JAZZ BASS - Quick Sound Demo “Thumb Slap” Style
Просмотров 904 года назад
Began to work out a "thumb slap" version of a bassline for the purpose of this sound demo of the Squier Fender Jazz Bass (with upgraded Aguilar pickups!) for a 1970s classic. This song was originally played with the bass notes being fingerpicked which I dislike for the tune. Because of the prominent percussive nature of the other instruments in this song, a slap-style bass technique seems more ...
Intro to BARNEY MILLER THEME (cover) - Ibanez SR 640 demo
Просмотров 5125 лет назад
Just the first 30 seconds of testing out my new (used) SR 640 bass from Japan with a parody of the Barney Miller theme, a 1970's tv sitcom set in a New York City Police Department police station in Greenwich Village. The show had a very cool F-key funk/jazz theme song, which I thought would be a nice parody to bring in the new year.
BLACK WATER Cover (Dobbie Brothers) Ibanez PC12MHCE acoustic - good value!
Просмотров 5 тыс.5 лет назад
Farting around with parodying a Dobbie Brothers classic, using my "beater guitar" Ibanez PC12MHCE smaller concert-sized guitar. I play it a lot. It sounds great plugged in with Martin strings. Only $130 used from a Northern California local shop. Fun stuff!
Sterling Sub Series Stingray bass - SUAVECITO (Malo)
Просмотров 9356 лет назад
Just a quick sound demo of the Sterling by Music Man 4-string Stingray bass bought from a local Guitar Center. Was fun jamming to the bassline to this 1972 song, which was originally cut by the Malo band headed by Jorge Santana (the brother of Carlos Santana). Just put on some good nickel strings and fiddle with (lower) the very hot pickup till it works for you. This will be a good bass to prac...

Christmas Time Is Here (V. Guaraldi) - Ibanez AF55 jazz guitar
Просмотров 5356 лет назад
Learned to play the classic "Christmas Time Is Here" (by the Vince Guaraldi Trio), using entry level Ibanez Artcore AF55 jazz guitar. Jazz chords, whew! I don't play my jazz axe very much, but it's a treat when I do with a practice backing track.
ONLY THE YOUNG riff (Journey) - using 2015 Fender David Lozeau Strat
Просмотров 6188 лет назад
Playing one of my favorite Journey rhythm riffs, ONLY THE YOUNG, with a nice backing track that I found on the WWW. Used my new Fender Special Edition David Lozeau Stratocaster with battery operated Fender passport mini amp. This is a recording from my cell phone, and my amp was on the floor, so it's not the best recording quality. But regardless this is a really fun song to play!
Larry Carlton Smiles and Smiles to Go cover - Ibanez AF55 guitar
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.9 лет назад
Just testing out the Seymour Duncan jazz neck pickup pup on my Ibanez Artcore AF55 hollow body what a difference! Sounds good with D'Addario flatwound strings too while trying to be a competent fake with Larry Carlton’s wonderful 1986 smooth jazz piece. I can't remember where I got the backing track from.

I have this one. I think this guitar model have buzzing problem technically. I sent Already 2 times to luthier but nothing changed. It's still buzzing.

I did too off the shelf at the beginning. But I made some adjustments and put on some Martin SP custom light strings, I think they are .11 to .52 range, and that resolved the problem.

had the same problem in high notes and solve it by changing my strings to .11 light strings. the guitar originally comes with .12 strings and i think it causes the buzzing problem

Hey is it better than previous model with big SUB written in headstock

    • @agapeguy777
      @agapeguy777 5 лет назад

It's a little bit noticeably better in my opinion. I think the slightly heavier more solid body and the overall workmanship make it a slightly better sounding bass. I used to have the other Sterling version with the big SUB letters on the headstock. But, yes, this version sounds better.

How is the quality? I have a StingRay HH that I love, sold all my other basses but don't feel comfortable taking it to certain gigs, the ones with the old logo were made in Indo I believe and these in China but I can't see MM not producing a quality product... about to pull the trigger on the black one with maple I think...

It's pretty good, not terrific. The build of the body, fretboard, frets, head stock, electronics, and finish are pretty good and solid. The tuners seem just OK though---the tuners and the strings are barely average quality to me; maybe it was to keep the cost below 300 USD.. But that's just me---the tuners and string quality were the first things I noticed what I wanted to change. For now, I slapped on some medium nickel-plated GHS boomers, lowered the action, lowered the very hot pickup, and so now it has been playing well for me! Pretty decent quality for the price point! My .02
