Why would somebody who's not a white European want to worship Norse gods? It's not my business if they should be allowed to or not because I'm not heathen , but i have to question an outsiders motives for wanting to be asatru...maybe they watched vikings and think it looks cool..and that's not a very spiritual motive and in my opinion would be more of a liability than asset to the asatru religion.

Asatru believers who advocate for exclusivity to Northern Europeans do so not out of racism, but because they view themselves as direct descendants of the Norse gods, their ancestors. Unlike monotheistic traditions, where gods rule over all, Asatru is rooted in ancestral worship and kinship with these deities. From this perspective, the gods are family, and it’s seen as natural to honor one’s own ancestors. They question why someone would want to worship another’s ancestors or family, emphasizing a personal, cultural connection rather than a universal one.

I think one of the big issues in the current paradigm is that feeling of being disconnected and lost. To my mind, lots of people coming into modern paganism want to reconnect to the seasonal cycle, to the Earth in some way, and also want to reconnect to "the old ways", having some pagan practice, especially that touches on historic practice, can help them feel less lost, more secure in their place in time and space. I know for me, that, especially over Covid, Heathenry did this for me and was a real anchor, but you can see how this is a vulnerability, which can be exploited by the Odinists etc. This is why, I think, that inclusive organisations, which offer inclusive pagan community, and also touch on historic practice, are vital.
