The microphone on your headset sounds great. What kind of headset is it?
I trained in both a Cessna 172 and a Cherokee PA28-161. Piper was easily the better plane for me. Landing was softer and smoother in the Cherokee. I would say the Cessna was like flying a truck versus the Cherokee (Warrior II) which was like flying a comfortable sedan.
So how much was it for the time you rented it?
About $200 for 1.5 hours of flying. You only pay for the time the engine runs. So the pre-flight time or the time it’s on the ground doesn’t count.
Can see you’re a renter. You seem to be in a hurry lol
Awesome club. Where I am there are only 4 1970s airplanes, shared by over 60 guys!!!
Things have changed, we have quite a lot on newish Cessnas, Diamonds and Cirruses
Awesome video!!
Absolutely not true! It may have been easy during the covid mask wearing days but my recent experience has been horrible. Before and during Covid I owned my own plane so I didn't have to deal with it. I've since sold my plane and now rent. Most places that rent planes are also flight schools. Scheduling is a nightmare. So bad that I'm now airplane shopping again.
Which is more reliable from a engine and control surfaces perspective?
They are both very reliable airplanes if maintained right. Pick a club that has a good number of airplanes and has its own hangar with mechanics. If there are a lot of Cessnas and they have their own A&P (mechanics), you should see a better maintain airplanes. I fly out of Palo Alto and we have quite a lot of Cessnas and our own shop to maintain them. Very easy as if I have any concerns/questions, I stop by the hangar and chat with our chief mechanic.
I’m learning in a piper, and the inside is kinda cramped, my instructor and myself are both fairly big guys, he’s kinda wide, and so am I, plus I’m 6 even so it does feel cramped a bit. And idk if this is true but I’ve been told by folks that a Cessna is easier to fly, and if that’s the case I’m kinda glad to be learning in a more challenging plane.
It’s good when you like the plane you learn in. I tend to believe that you should learn in the airplane that’s mostly available to you and its complexity should not be a factor. In fact, it’s better to learn in less demanding aircraft. You have so much to learn and the last thing you want to do is dealing with more “challenging” plane. This goes against all decision making rules form FAA. But I wouldn’t say Piper is more complex. Cessna is just like a big elegant (SUV). Give you more time to process and think.
💦 P R O M O S M
Do you have to have an instructor with you when you rent if you already have a PPL?
The simple answer is no, once you have your PPL (ticket), you can fly on a single engine aircraft, typically it’s the one you trained on (my case Cessna 172). If I don’t fly for sometime due to my business demands a lot of time, I always take my CFI (instructor) for a flight to make sure I’m current (able to fly all required procedures). If I go somewhere further/longer I take my CFI as a safety pilot. If you decide to fly on more demanding aircraft right after getting your PPL, such as Cirrus SR22 or Vision Jet or Pilatus PC-12 or other similar, you can also do that with you PPL. In that case insurance will require sufficient training in these aircraft and will require you to have an instructor or second pilot (who is rated and experienced) to fly with you all the time until you reach certain number of hours as Pilot in command. To conclude: after you get you PPL you can fly solo and take your friends and family in small aircraft like Cessna 172/182 or the one you used for training. If you feel the route is complex, it’s a good idea to bring a safety pilot or CFI.
Really cool
Thank you
How'd you go start? I want to do this in Miami have zero experience
One of the best places is here SkyEagle Aviation Academy (954) 772-1212 maps.app.goo.gl/gXsxjb4oFZRpwUDK8?g_st=ic
Otherwise just look for a flight school. And start doing the Ground school early.
@@TheAlexIceman Thanks So Much!!!
My instructor emphasizes minimum contact with the propeller. Especially not doing anything to turn the propeller (I saw you move it at 4:22), if the last person didn't shut it down properly or something is leaking that shouldn't be, there could still be fuel in one or more cylinders, from there it only takes a fault in one magneto to allow a surprise start and serious injury. Also, you were pushing the plane by the propeller (9:45) at the end. Any sort of flaw on the propeller that unbalances the rotation (such as a slight bend) could lead to vibration, which can at a minimum increase the chance of loose bolts, and possibly cause accelerated wear on the crankshaft/bearings and eventual crank or engine issues or eventual failure, or even direct failure of the prop.
Your instructor is not entirely correct or you didn’t understand his point of view. I only turned for half pistons it get into one position to check for hydrolock. It’s only done when I can physically see the keys on the dashboard. If done properly it’s a safety percussion. However, there are two different postings of view on this topic, spinning more than I indicated is dangerous for the very reason you’ve mention plus if somebody forgets to get the keys out and switch off all electrics, this can be a problem. Hydrolock or not, your choice I do it very carefully with the knowledge I have plist only when I visually see keys on the dashboards and masters are off.
Hi Alex, Big Noble Goal!
First sign or signs! Thank you Iceman!
Nice seeing this. Need more views? -> "promo sm"!!!
You ain't wrong 💯
Who is he? Looks like homeless guy.
Most likely homeless :) I still rent my place.
This doesn't take individuals that are retired, on fixed incomes, or young people trying to start a family at all. Economic recession and inflation are not so bad for us in our 30s and 40s but they prevent young people from starting great lives and extremely devalue the currency of those that are approaching or have retired from the workforce. You can't just think about yourself, you have to consider the ramifications to everyone.
Nice
That's so interesting
1st and btw Nice way
DANG!
definitely the leading group!
Right!? You learn so much from it!
Крутая мысль :)!
Спасибо!
Sooooo......the answer to the title question?
Thanks for letting us know hahaha I’m not even going to watch.
Is English your first language?
Haha, no it’s not. Had to learn it from scratch.
Thanks man
Thank you!
Hey man have you tried checking how long does it take to charge the device from 0 to 100%. Gpd is claiming it to be only 1.5 hrs lol
It’s actually pretty close. I def finally get mine charged in about 2h timeframe. It I only lasts 3h playing somewhat heavy games like Witcher 3
What made you want to get into aviation?
Aviation and Space exploration has been my passion for many years. I used to fly sims and enjoyed it a lot. A couple of years ago I decided to make my move and get my PPL. I love to challenge myself and learning to fly was a challenge. Defiantly a lot of learning and I love it. Nothing beats the view out of the airplane.
probably my favourite handheld of all of them. its compact has a dedicated keyboard which is great for MMOs and for games that need hotkeys etc..
I completely agree! I love this one a lot and still use it every other day!
i got one & it Blows me away everytime i use it , it's Truly Awesome man cause there's so much you could do with it.... it's just SUPER man 👨. Save up & Get yall' .... Highly recommend it . Forget about the cons , and appreciate it for what it is . You'll love it .
Agree
king steam deck !!!
Steam deck should be pretty cool, but I like this one as well.
LOL, in your thumbnail you look like Keith Kalfas. He runs a popular RUclips channel.
Haha good point!
I should ping him
Not sure if you'll see this on what's now an older video but thanks for this video. Advantage at KPAO was where I trained for my PPL and my home club until I left the Bay Area. I can't say I miss how busy things get in the pattern on weekends, but I really do miss flying there.
It was crazy busy today, I agree, I’m the other hand, you learn to fly a tight pattern and very sharp ATC. It’s one of the busiest airspace’s in the US. If you can fly here, you can fly anywhere.
Will be interesting to see how the Steam Deck stacks up...
I’m sure we will see a line up of similar devices and it’s just the beginning
Great Video Brother 👌🏻 Keep it up Subscibed 🤙🏻
Thank you!
The Win3 is a great device, but with a few caveats: 1) ALWAYS run a Windows Defender scan before connecting the Win3 to your network, as some came with worms from factory; 2) the Win3 was originally advertised as having Wifi6+BT 5.0 (Intel AX200), but a number of units came with older Wifi5+BT 4.2 (AC-7265) chipsets; supposedly retail units are now coming with the Intel AX210 chip; 3) GPD is keeping very quiet about these issues, and is doing nothing of substance to address the users affected by the wrong wifi chipset.
That’s true. But even with the old wifi it works pretty well. Mine came with the right chip though.
Also, the Biwin NVMe in the Win3 is of very poor quality. Several users have experienced NVMe failures within a few days of getting the device, so plan on replacing it with a WD, Samsung, or Crucial NVMe (Inland or Sabrent also seem to work ok). As with all 'niche' devices, just be aware there is little support from GPD, and return or replacement can take a long time if you buy directly from them via IGG. If you plan to get one, pick it up from either a local reseller or Amazon. You'll pay a little more, but you'll run into less issues if you decide to return it. With that said, I really like my Win3, but this is not a trouble-free device, and you *will* need to tinker with it quite a bit to get it just right.
Hmm. Ok, so far so good for me. I use it every day for the last 3 month and all is good. The only thing I had to replace is the analog stick as I dropped the thing and damaged one stick.
even with the release of the steam deck im still more interested in something that actually fits in my pocket xD
Totally agree. Also with steam deck you won’t be able to run older games or emulators, unless you manually reinstall windows
@@TheAlexIceman if I'm not mistaken linux actually has some better working emulators, since steam os seems to be a flavored version of archlinux, but the performance is negligible imho, so both operating systems should be fine- my main concerns are really coming down to compatibility with windows based games not agreeing with proton, because while i love linux, i know that it doesnt always play nice with windows made games, and of course- the size haha
My goal was to be able to run GTA 2 and games like Railroad tycoon 1/2 and while it’s not important for 90% of users, for me it is a deal breaker and Linux will not make it easy to play them.
@@TheAlexIceman yep- while i love linux, it isnt as plug and play as windows when it comes to gaming, i hope valve can overcome this but the win 3 is gonna be the safe bet, i feel.
Just wait a bit, there are many consoles that are coming out soon and I’m sure next year we will see a lot of them.
Looks like a SideKick phone
A bit more powerful, like 1000 times :))) hahah
This thing does one thing the Switch fails to do; give us a library of classic games from NES to Wii and GB to 3DS, and very few NES and SNES games are made available through Nintendo's crappy online Switch service. They don't even have EarthBound or Super Mario RPG on the Switch Online service yet and even my GPD XD+ has them. Seriously, my GPD XD+ Already has over almost 3000+ games.
So... how did you get switch games on this? I ordered one btw lol
There are 3 main Switch emulators for Windows: Yuzu, the most advanced Switch emulator: yuzu-emu.org/game/?ez_cid=CLIENT_ID(AMP_ECID_EZOIC) Ryujinx, a simpler but functional alternative: ryujinx.org/download/?ez_cid=CLIENT_ID%28AMP_ECID_EZOIC%29 Cemu, the emulator of WiiU par excellence: Nintendo made a lot of games for WiiU: cemu.info/?ez_cid=CLIENT_ID(AMP_ECID_EZOIC) I use all 3 as some games run better on one or the other. But Yuzu is my main one. Hope that helps!
Thank you so so much.
No problem. Always happy to help!
Do you need to update and configure stuff. I have win 3 coming and want help
I’m a software engineer and a white hacker :) but thanks for offering :)
How are you recording cockpit audio?
I use a special adapter www.mypilotstore.com/MyPilotStore/sep/11806?gclid=CjwKCAjwlrqHBhByEiwAnLmYUCP01KOIXRcSUXCnmLemHcorgFYBWPaQtoh70VCBo8lyu_056uQPNBoCaAcQAvD_BwE
Had mine for about a month now. I knew I'd like it, but I didn't know that I would totally love it! I'm able to game so much more now, and it runs even the absolute latest and greatest. Pretty much every thing about it is better than I expected. My wireless download speeds are over 50 MBs a second, boot up is 10 to 12 seconds, it charges fast and lasts 2 to 3 hours on graphically intensive games....I could go on and on. It's one of the best things I've ever owned. My onexplayer should be here anytime, and I can't wait to compare them. This is the epitome of portable pc gaming
I feel the same way, now I’m thinking about onexplayer, maybe I’ll get one as well. It’s been a life changer for me. With all the work and stress, this thing keeps my mind clear of anything else!
I am waiting for my OneXPlayer to be delivered, but i watch a lot of Win 3 videos to see what i can play since they share the same specs. I went for the OXP because I'm a big guy, that small screen would have me always hitting the wrong thing
That’s a good one too. Do you mind letting me know how it feels once you get it. I agree that the screen could be a bit bigger if you use Windows itself or not optimized games.
AYA Neo ver1.5 is the best
It’s looking pretty good, is it out yet?
@@TheAlexIceman if you buy from their website I think it ships in August sometime.
I’m also looking at OneXPlayer. The console can defiantly benefit from bigger screen
@@TheAlexIceman but i heard you said you don't like the Steam Deck because it can't fit in your pocket and now you want a Onexplayer thats even bigger than the Steam Deck?
I didn’t say I don’t like Steam deck cause of the size. I don’t like the specs, the Linux environment and not all games will be supported right away. Also no mouse emulation if you reinstall windows. I’d also expect a better screen from such device. Size is not an issue.
:) cool
Garbage review , up can tell this guy ain’t no gamer
You don’t have to be a full-time gamer to share your thoughts, right? I casually like to play my favorite games and GPD is an ideas setup for me. And you are right, I’m not a gamer, I’m a software engineer and an entrepreneur. Just sharing my excitement.
@@TheAlexIceman just ignore the idiot
Handhelds are great for people who can only play games occasionally. I used to play games constantly, i ordered one of the Win 3s competitors because I'm a trucker and don't have as much time to game anymore, and the few pockets of free time i do have my Switch is more convenient but I'm a PC gamer at heart
Love this video, Alex!
Thank you!
Amazing review, thanks a lot. Will probably choose this one over nintendo!
Good choice!
Yeah and still play many Nintendo games anyway lol Just finished downloading a handful of wii games for my win 3
I’m in love with the fact that you can play virtually any game on this thing. I’m a big fan of old school games for PC and I can run these with no problems. I’m playing Witcher 3 the wild hunt now and it’s been awesome!
