Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta (AlphA’s Drum Cover)
My first drum cover in over 8 months lol
I was actually supposed to record a drum cover back in April, but the wires in my electronic snare drum either got loose or torn up, so it had to be soldered to get it fixed
While throughout the times we got that one to fixed including spending time in college, I’ve been on that Kendrick Lamar marathon for 5 months ever since he pummeled Drake. And I thought why not give poor Drake a birthday present for today, eh?
Also, watch til the end, I got a surprise for ya.

After several attempts, several practices and several takes, I finally get to record one of the songs I enjoy playing on the drums. I remember when this song came out around 2009, and my class ended up using it as part of our dancing program the next year. Oh, the memories.

Not gonna lie, I had to do multiple takes for this cover, as normal as it supposedly is for any music recordings. Had to do another XXXTentacion drum cover exactly one year after. I was actually considering to cover this song last year, but it initially took me a while to figure out the whole rhythmic pattern. Thankfully, I lived to see another year, and uploading it today has paid off.

Here’s my last drum cover video of 2023. Could’ve recorded few more songs after Halloween, but college got in the way, and I barely got the time to record any. Fortunately, I was able to do this video (though I could’ve done better) before I spend my last days of the year in a hotel staycation with my family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! More videos to come in 2024, for sure!

And the fact that I’ve recorded this drum after knowing the song for over two years was absolutely worth it. I thought it would be perfectly fitting to record and cover the demo version of “All Apologies” as last considering it is the last song in Kurt’s band album listing, In Utero, 30 years ago. I might be back for more demo or acoustic Kurt Cobain songs, but this is where I put on hold for now.

maybe try to find a more articulate hi-hat sound? it might also simply be that your rolls might be that you're a little uneven with the strokes, but it's great other than that
