AMEEEEEEEEEEEN! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
John 5:20 "For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel." It's nothing short of blasphemy for Poju Oyemade to interprete John 5:20 to mean: "God wants to do greater works through us...God wants to raise you up as Rabbis...that people would come to meet you at night and say, "Rabbi, no man can do these works that you are doing except God be with him."" This is criminal!!! The context of Jesus's statement in John 5:20 was the hostility of the Jewish religious leaders towards Jesus. These apostate religious leaders sought to kill Jesus chiefly because of two things, namely: 1) He healed a paralyzed man on the Sabbath, and 2) He called Himself the Son of God...which they interpreted, correctly by the way, to mean that Jesus equates Himself with God. For these reasons, the religious leaders plotted to have Jesus killed. But in response to their hostility and plot, Jesus doubled down and did not back down. Instead, He went further to tell them that the works that He does are what He sees His Father, i.e., God, do. John 5:19 "So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise." When Jesus talks about greater works in John 5:20, He is specifically referring to Him raising the dead. And we see that in John 5:21. John 5:21 "For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will." Basically, Jesus is here telling the Jewish religious leaders that you ain't seen nothing yet. You hate me because I healed a paralytic, you just wait until you see me raise the dead. And He did indeed raise the dead when he raised, not only, Lazarus from the dead (John 11:34-44), but when He himself rose from the dead. So, John 5:20 is about Jesus and not about you. That verse has nothing to do with God wanting to do greater works through you or about you becoming a Rabbi or anything of such. What Poju Oyemade has done here is what's called narcigesis i.e., narcissistic eisegesis, which simply means reading oneself into a Bible passage and making it all about oneself because of one's narcissism.

LESSONS FROM THE ABCs of FAITH with PASTOR POJU. ruclips.net/video/ucvbaUhgN8I/видео.htmlsi=nX-x1JIAOJmS_ia8 A- Agree with God B- Believe His word C- Confess His word. 1. One thing that comes to mind as I listened to this message is that a Christian who has not learned to hear God is missing out on the greatest advantage we have as Christians. We have to learn to hear God and teach people to do the same. There are several things we chase and grievously labor for that if only we had heard God on those matters, those things would come to us. There are pursuits we have wasted precious years on (courses, jobs, careers, ministries, etc.) that if we heard God, we wouldn't have ventured on. There are relationships we have no business being in, troubles we have faced, and opportunities missed, that if only we had heard God, we would have avoided or received. 2. He spoke about a Doctor who had 3 job offers in the UK: one was a permanent position, another was a 5-year contract with a 9000 pounds relocation pay, and the third one in Liverpool was a one-year contract. She said God told her to take the 1-year contract. (As Christians, we don't make decisions based on what appears best but on what God says, we follow our Father's directives.) (See the story of Abraham and Lot- Genesis 13:8-18. Lot chose where to live based only on what appeared pleasing to the eye and made the biggest mistake of His life, not knowing the land would be utterly destroyed. Abraham chose based on where God showed him and walked into God's promise for his life. 3. Don't join the bandwagon, doing what everyone is doing. Find out what God is doing in your life and enter into it. That will be your life's turning point (Romans 4:1-5 in MSG version). 4. Someone who walks by Faith can never be hemmed in because, in every difficult situation, there is a provision for it that God has made available for you by His grace (because He loves you, not because of anything you did); your duty is to download God's provision through prayers (and thanksgiving). (Romans 4 shares how Abraham received God's provision of righteousness by Faith.) (Words in brackets are mine) 5. (Success isn't measured by external metrics but by doing God's will). You can seem successful on the outside but be empty inside. He shared the story of a pastor who said he had a very big church but he was a very small man on the inside, and he was going to commit suicide. 6. Right there in the work of your hands, there are things that eyes have not seen, and ears have not heard that God wants to bring out through you. Commit your works to God and tarry in God's presence asking Him to reveal those things to You. Proverbs 16v3. 1 Corinthians 2v9-13 7. Speak into existence the things God has spoken to You. This is how they will come to pass. Jesus thanked God for answering him concerning raising Lazarus from the dead, but he still had to say to the dead man, "Lazarus, Come Out!" John 11v40-43 8. Stay with God in prayer (and fasting when necessary) until the unbelief in your heart about God's word to you is gone.

Strange, it's 5 am in Kenya right now when I am coming across this message, at 3 am I was going through Eph. 1 (from my physical bible) and the Holy spirit held me down when I got to this section. Is coincidence even a thing to consider??? Thank you for guidance on praying in the spirit.
