Biologic Solutions for Degenerative Joint Disease of the Knee - Craig Mahoney, M.D.
How long does it take for humerous bone to heal? It was from arm wrestling and it was pretty bad has been 4 months and still feels the pain everyday
I damaged by knee a few years back when a flying piece of wood hit my knee. It was very swollen shortly after and I originally applied DMSO and CBD and Cayenne pepper cream which numbed the pain and I walked with crutches for a week, however I feel I didn't rest for it to heal properly. 4 - 6 weeks later I did an X-ray and doctor said no broken or fracture but It still hurts sometimes and makes popping/cracking sounds when I bend and extend and If I run too long or dance too hard it hurts and inflames up. I feel there may be some calcification build up? Its also still hurts if I bang it on hard surfaces accidentally which is unfortunate as I am only in my mid 30s and have desires to be more athletic and travel.
My mom said it hurt like hell
Yes
Don't put your patients in this garbage sling. I'm 4 days post op and the terrible design flaws have caused extreme frustration and PAIN. The Velcro stabs and cuts exposed skin and pokes through clothing. The arm circle cuts into the armpit and neck, pulling tightly or providing no support, no happy medium. The arm part of the sling provides ZERO support as it very quickly softens up and loses the initial stiffness needed for support. When reclining or laying down the arm rolls upwards causing pain!!! The thumb strap is useless when there is zero support on the bottom side of the hand. I've cried more than once over this sling and will buy a new one from Amazon today For reference I'm 5'8, 175 pound female
I’ve been getting cortisone injections in both of my c/mc joints for a couple of years. (Osteoarthritis) Usually with minor discomfort (a couple of days). This last go around my hand surgeon was performing arthroplasty of my left c/mc joint (AND trigger finger release-left middle finger), but after that (while under general anesthesia) she did one of my usual cortisone injections in my right c/mc joint. Side note: I find that my surgeon is not as delicate as her PA when performing these injections. My PA will pull traction on the thumb, opening up a little more space in the joint to make some room for the drug, AND she pushes the plunger very slowly to lessen a discomfort). The one I had in the OR (I come to find out) was done with a larger gauged needle than the one used in the clinic! I am 7-weeks post-injection and the pain is like never before! Excruciating! I’ve been told by my PA that I have a hemathrosis (bleeding in the joint from the needle nicking a blood vessel, resulting in bruising, swelling, and prolonged pain!) I’ve been told that it could take up to 2 months to subside and it shouldn’t be a permanent condition. It’s driving me crazy! It’s hard enough recovering from the surgery hand!
I’m 6 months out of an elbow fracture, very frustrating as I want to get back into lifting weights but there is a lot of discomfort. I cannot wait to be back to 100%
Ethyl Chloride helps immensely. I don’t feel the stick at all.
Hi!! 50% of this video is excellent. However we cannot see anything that she is doing when putting the sling back on as her body is blocking everything she is doing Thank you for doing the video, but one would suggest strongly that you redo the half that is supposed to show how to put the sling back on.
I had this done in a knuckle yesterday. It definitely was unpleasant, but something I could breathe through without reacting much. More importantly, however, I woke up this morning with zero hand pain for the first time in months. I know a lot of people say the shots don't help, but it definitely worked for me.
What about a open conpound femur fracture that stuck out the side of my leg a bit
Trevor Schmitz did spine surgery on me in 2018. He broke off a screw inside of a vertebra. Then he never saw me post surgery. His nurse ratchet cancelled my appointments when I tried to be re seen. This guy is a butcher. Beware
black sleeves on the jacket are genius!! Video does NOT show you how to assemble the whole thing-specifically the shoulder loop strap
My wife screamed and cried! It’s now been 6 hours since and my wife’s hands are still hurting.
I got injected on the inside of my hand and the pain was insane! It was a big needle and I'm convinced the injection did more damage. I don't believe they should continue injecting this. Just because something gives pain relief sometimes. Doesn't mean it is good for the body at all. Injecting very good peptides is much, much wiser. The world should focus on healing and not temporary pain relief with something that's clearly doing more damage
It hurts so bad. I had one in my left wrist and I had no anesthetic except for the freeze spray on the skin. The doctor then pushed this long needle into my wrist from under the thumb going across the inside of my wrist. No ultrasound no local anesthesia nothing. He said I would have some discomfort for about an hour. Bullshit I have severe pain for about 2 hours before it started to subside. So in short it'll hurt very much if you have a butcher of a doctor like I did
They hurt like hell. I have to get one on my third trigger finger and I am delaying because it hurts waaaay more than living with the damn finger.
Had a bad tear 8months ago. Just from walking normally .Couldn’t walk for 4 days. Did a corticosteroid injection that didn’t help at all. I’m 67 and had MRI done that shoes the tear and arthritis too. And yet, these days with one painkiller every two days I can do 12 to 15000 steps a day. It’s painful at night but daytime I’m managing fine without a stick or brace. I was recommended to buy Hoka brand Bondi 8 trainers and they really help. I thought I’d have surgery last month but as it’s not too painful these days I think I’ll forego the surgery until it’s either better or worse. I’m very suprised that it seems to be less troublesome than it was.
In 2018 I had sudden sharp pain in my right knee, am MRI showed suspicious of a very small meniscus lateral tear while the menisci was fully intact. I wore a brace, iced my knee, stopped working out for 4 months and like magic the pain went away and I was able to walk on my knee without any issues as if nothing happened. I have been working out on the treadmill and elliptical for 33 years and never had any pain when I resumed working out. Many doctors feel surgery for a very small meniscus tear is not necessary.
Had mine done yesterday. The only pain is from the first local anaesthetic injection which is just a sharp scratch. The actual shot was painless. I'd strongly recommend making sure you have a good experienced doctor doing the procedure. The wrist joint can be tricky to do. Mine was brilliant!
had a butterfly break in my left fibula july 18th...its sept 19 still has not fused/healthed yet....ugh i can walk but its painful if i walk alot or stand over periods of time
Hurts like hell. I was in the ER SCREAMING IN PAIN & THEY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I WILL NEVER AGAIN. IM SO UPSET.
Yup. It’s slow. It’s excruciating.

Just had my 4th one today into the base of the thumb. Yes it hurts! Actually, the initial needle stick isn't too bad, but the pressure of the cortisone/lidacane mix going in is excruciating for about 5 seconds. Then it takes about 15 seconds for the lidacane to numb the joint. Fortunately the pressure/pain only lasts a few seconds. Reading some of the comments below it looks like my experience was less severe than most others.
I had it under general anesetic
I got 3 and g th get hurt
when that needle goes through your hand (mine is middle finger) you pretty much eject your entrails
Business is business :) surgery must be done and properly paid :)
How long does it take for 2 broken fingers to heal?
I have open fracture on my lower leg and it as been nine months now I have not recover .i was having ex fix but after the removal of the ex fix the doctor said that I will under go another operation after the wound is completely heal in the where the area were the operation will . please help me with way that can help me heal faster please help
My mum broke her finger - had surgery - had K wires. Theyre all removed now but she is struggling with bending her finger. They x rayed and said its fully healed, its just the tendon thats stiff and she has to push through the pain and just keep pushing her finger down and bending it. Shes in so much pain doing it though that she isnt doingnit enough. Will these injections help do you think?
Had many due to thumb arthritis, they hurt like hell.
Great doctor
I have : Comminuted minimally displaced fracture of the calcaneum extending from the tuberosity posteriorly to the subtalar articulation. Intra-articular minimally displaced fracture through the base of the little toe metatarsal. In accordance with the 5th metatarsal fracture All very painful espcially when swelling if i try to move aorund no surgery may need it, my friends have said that i need one and will be out for a while i play bowling - love walking......this does not help at all. Can anyone simplify the above of medical terms my GP says there is mutliple breaks but that is it! Not sure what to do. Whether keeping it off ground is doing good to wait additonally for an appt!?
I cracked my arm slightly how long will it heal
i broke my tibia
Broke my left thumb. Today's my first week. Still a long way to go. I can still move it though even if the bone wa exposed..
Va Va Va Voom!
I'm 5 days in to recovering from medial meniscus surgery and couldn't be happier. I can walk without any real pain in the meniscusitself, although my quads are still swollen and restricted from the tourniquet applied during the procedure. After 14 months of pain, it was misdiagnosed as arthritis and meniscus fraying, which didn't help. The orthopaedic surgeon resected the torn sections back to the stable edges and excised the medial plica, which wasn't indicated on the MRI, but that's apparently not unusual. It's a long road back for my 65 yo knee, but at least I now have options whereas my knee prior to the surgery was just so painful and debilitating nothing seemed possible. Thanks for the video.
After my accident I couldn't walk normally for 2 weeks , after 4 weeks I started walk without walking stick . Now after 7 week I feel nearly OK
As an update to my 3 month old comment, the surrounding muscles took several months to recovery from the tourniquet application, despite me being in the gym 6 days per week. I also developed prepetella bursitis that required another visit to the surgeon. I am finally able to start running again, although only shortish efforts at this stage. I am now quite hopeful that I will be able to return to running again, which was definitely not the outlook I had before the operation.
@@htmonaro1969 I was told running is bad for the knees especially at your (my age). I know it's hard to give up a sport when you love it.
It hurt during the injection and after, for an hour or so; the pain after was excruciating making it impossible to relax. I took an Advil and iced it, it began to swell. After the hour or so, it finally stopped throbbing and tingling with pain; I was able to relax although dare not move my hand, it would trigger pain. The next day, I was unable to close my hand. The injection was in my palm for trigger finger of the middle finger. Hopefully it gets better and I get function of my right hand. The pain comes and goes when I try to bend my middle finger, so I don't.
I was not prepared at all for how painful it would be - all dr's said would be so quick and minimal pain: total BS. The lady before me I heard screaming from the waiting room but didn't realise why...never again. PS I didn't scream but swore terribly
im a 23 male non-smoker/vaper/drinker had a bike accident fracturing humerus and tibia, tibia was plastered while humerus has fixated with plate and 6 screws, tibia united in 5 months whereas humerus plate broke after 7 months, had another surgery with bone graft new plate and 8 screws, been 6 months and doctor has prescribed terifrac injections everyday, + calcium+d3+ multivitamins + arm brace. i have been set back more than a year can't work as cannot travel, running outta savings. SHOULD I BE WORRIED OF NON-UNION OR IS THIS MUCH TIME NORMAL? I STILL HAVE GAP IN THE FRACTURE SITE.
What’s the failure rate for TAR’s? I’m on deck in a few years as I’m only a year out from a trimal fracture/dislocation. My surgeon seems to think a joint replacement is waaaaaay better and no big deal
Yes I got 3 in my fingers and it really hurt 😢
Is it normal for my clavicle to still hurt even though it's been years
Good information thanks for sharing
You nailed it for me..pain going down front of my arm too besides the shoulder..Im 55 so thats about it for me lifting heavy weights anymore.. Since im older shoulder surgery probably wouldn't allow me to lift anymore i assume.. mentally this hurts more than physically..thanks for the information,God bless you 😇
Omg idk how this happened to me doctor said I have a large bone bruise and a lot more fragments on my knee I’m 30 years old and idk how my knee got dislocated I only got in the car and boom it snapped 😢😢😢
What is the longest it could take to heal a spinal stress fracture?
Broke my radius in my wrist. Been 4 months and it’s a struggle. No strength and I’m a very healthy active person
Me too last week
@@eagle_princess you’ll feel stronger by the 6 month. Try BPC-157 peptide. I seemed to heal faster. Naturally occurring amino acid
how old are you?
57
@@laurelledubois it’s been a year now. Pretty much 100% now. Still can get sore
My podiatrist showed me a very clean small crack and put me in a boot for 3 wks; i go back in 2 days...wonderin if that means I can be done w boot?
Whats the update?
My ankle fusion lead to amputation😔
Geezuz, how did that happen?
Thank you... I appreciate being direct and right to the point. Time is valuable and I appreciate not wasting it on unimportant dialogue... It's been a little over 3 months since my comminuted femur fracture however I smoked nearly 2 packs of cigarettes a day and I think that's delayed my recovery. I'm down to a few cigarettes a day now and that's helped along the calcium supplements significantly I believe. Walkers and wheelchairs suck!! And I now have a new found respect for anyone going through the struggle. 🙏
Ouch Communited fracture - I heard that word is a smash of multiple peices of breaks in a large bone - My docs says it is I have : Comminuted minimally displaced fracture of the calcaneum extending from the tuberosity posteriorly to the subtalar articulation. Intra-articular minimally displaced fracture through the base of the little toe metatarsal. In accordance with the 5th metatarsal fracture. Not sure how revoery is but all painful and feels loose when moving off the ground and the heel feels awful when trying to apply pressure - how you doing now?
I have a torn rotator cuff, but I don't want surgery
Just ask yourself what 10 yrs from now will bring if it’s a full thickness tear! My dad said that same thing and now he can’t use that arm much now
Hi i suffered from intense and severe neck muscle spasm while driving i had to pull over and call 911 it was so bad. They gave me an injection in my are. Can u tell me what medicine that was
