Scenes from Sunset's movie from "Sheriff of Cimarron" with sound track of the complete "Ride-off to the Sunset" theme song for Sunset Carson's "Six-Gun Heroes" on PBS. Sparked Fred Gunzel of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada into searching for album and acquiring this LP "Love and Sad Stories" by Bill Anderson with Sunset's theme in his TV show intro. A big CowboyPal "Thanks" to Fred.

When we arrived in the U.S. in 1945, we spent a month in a rundown motel in Lindsay, California. My Dad, who had recently completed a three-year contract as a mining engineer in Chile, soon found work as a city engineer in his home town of Exeter, 10 miles away. While we stayed at the motel, someone gave me a 78 RPM LP record of a song called “Blood on the Saddle.” It was music that no three-year-old should be exposed to. When my mother realized what the words were, she hastily threw it away. It was a comic country-western ditty with deliberately gruesome lyrics, delivered in lugubriously dragged-out tones by Tex Ritter. You can hear him sing it or watch him perform it in the 1937 film, Hittin’ the Trail. There was blood on the saddle And blood all around And a great big puddle Of blood on the ground A cowboy lay in it All covered with gore And he never will ride Any broncos no more Oh, pity the cowboy All bloody and red For the bronco fell on him And bashed in his head My mother had a sure instinct that told her it wasn’t suitable fare for her baby boy. No doubt Mom knew what she was up to. Toddlers or grown-ups, there’s a built-in instinct that tells us it’s a really bad idea to allow just any old influences to enter our consciousness. Of course, now that I'm bumping up against 82 I think it's the funniest thing ever - almost as ridiculously hilarious as "Canyons of Your Mind" by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band with Vivian Stanshall. ruclips.net/video/aD9Lfyg2l6E/видео.htmlsi=3-2Y_5lNleNlvhIL

Thank you so much for this song and video. I only discovered Sunset about 2 months ago. I grew up with Gene and Roy. I LOVE Sunsets theme song. His movies are so good. We need Hero's for the kids of today that truly show honor and courage. So grateful I had good role models when I was growing up. We NEED real men models for all the struggling kids today.

Quisiera saber como podria obtener toda la serie completa y en idioma español o audio latino . Muchas gracias de antemano.

Notice the scene at 4:01 where Sunset comes through the door. The tip of his Stetson just barely brushes the top of the door frame. Sunset stood about 6' 6^ and so sometimes the door frames had to be adjusted accordingly.

The clips of Sunset came from the 1945 Republic picture, Sante Fe Saddlemates. If you look quick, that's Linda (Tiger Woman) Stirling in the dancehall costume. She even did a song in this one. I never knew Bill Anderson had this song out until I saw the TV show. Reminded me of Rex Allen Jr.'s "Where are the heroes?"
