For a first year thats messed up, I highly suggest once you get certified, jump ship from the place you are at if they aren't willing to pay you what market is. My year with my license will be in 2 months. I work at a school and home services, I am on track to make between 95k-115k.

If you don't have a BCBA. How can you find a BCBA to do your initial competency assessment?

I'm not sure how long you've been in the field, >I just started watching your video,< but do you remember when we were told we couldn’t identify as a BCBA online? That was early in my career. Now that I've left the field and observed the many issues within healthcare systems, I wish I could speak out without the fear of being sued. Unfortunately, that fear still lingers because it was so heavily drilled into us by the board. Many people have the potential to make a real impact, but all I saw was corporate greed. After working at four different companies over 15 years, the constant insurance denials and the takeover by large ABA companies really broke my spirit. Honestly, I’m relieved I no longer practice. I wish I could have a more positive outlook, but that was my experience. 😢

I'm in a contract with my company for free supervision hours. It just started this month. I've been with this company for a little under 3 years with a year of it being a mid-level supervisor. I'm in CA and getting paid $27/hr without guaranteed billable hours. So I've been working maybe on average 15-20 hrs a week. I also started my ABA course work this fall and I have my masters already. I can't help but feel like my struggle is unusual. I've been getting maybe $800 a pay check as an RBT and mid-level supervisor. Is this pretty on par for the field? I keep telling myself that I should suck it up because I'm getting free BCBA supervision, but I'm struggling because I'm barely surviving paycheck to paycheck and it makes me want to move on from the field. Do I stick it out for a year or two?

That last tip was definitely interesting to learn. There’s a huge demand in my area. Some are huge companies that pay more and some are smaller but this tip made me feel better about the smaller one reaching out to me first.

I loved this explanation. I am doing mine tomorrow but for re cert. I just have to kind of think in the moment of what i can use for DRO, DRA things like that. i have been going over my sessions in my mind but hopefully tomorrow i can do it simply come up with those moments for each section in the comp test.

Tips on sending resumes over with no RBT experience or even working with children with special needs (if you have any)?

Hi thank you for the tips on this video, that will be real helpful for me. I'm just now getting into the RBT field. I just finished my 40hr training so can you tell me how do I get to the next step? Which I believe is taking the Competency Assessment test..but who do I go to..where and how? There's not alot of information out there on that part so, your guidance would be truly helpful right now (I'm just like stuck in limbo). I read you must be employed with the BCBA that will test you, but if that's true how do I go about doing that? Also, it would be really helpful to new potential RBT's such as myself if you can do a video on that and more information regarding RBTs (besides BCBA content).
