Awesome diagnosis and repair. This repair is exactly what I needed to repair my drone. Thanks for posting.
GREAT HELP FOR ME CHEERS
Ted, is still necessary reuse the old magnet case? For P4 regular, seems all parts come with the magnet case as a Plug & play, Regards
Yes it is necessary to reuse the original casing
Thanks for the video Ted! I just repaired a Phantom 4 Pro gimbal with your help! It had a cracked hall sensor. We have multiple of these drones that crashed over the years, we use them in water management works, all of them had motor and structural failures. Your video was a big help!👍
I have replaced the yaw motor, but same error
what is the error?
Super helpful. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, I have a question please: Do you happen to know if it is complicated to replace the PITCH MOTOR of the camera in the Phantom 4 Pro? Thanks in advance
No it is a direct swap.
@@Droneted Thank you
@@Droneted And do you know if you need to disassemble both sides or only the side of the PITCH MOTOR ?
@@YL-mc9oz You need to take the back cover off the camera head and release the latch that holds the pitch motor cable. Then there are 4 screws that hold the motor assembly. 2 on the camera head and 2 on the roll arm
@@Droneted Thank you very much !!!
Hello, I have a question please: Do you happen to know if it is complicated to replace the PITCH MOTOR of the camera in the Phantom 4 Pro? Thanks in advance
Pitch motor is plug and play. Not necessary to use the old casing
Send the footage to Jeremy Corbell. ;) He and George Knapp have a podcast called Weaponized.
I'm pretty sure that you captured a UFO going by my friend. If it was a jet it would have sounded very different and much louder. Congratulations
Hi, Ted. Thanks so much for all of your videos. Is the yaw motor and casing the same on all of the Phantom 4 models (std., adv., Pro, Pro V2)?
all Phantom 4 drones share the same yaw motor. The only difference is the early yaw motors had a round casing. this was only on the early P4S.the actual motor is the same they all use the same roll motor Te pitch is different on the P4s from the P4Pro. the p4Pro version 1 and 2 share the same pitch motor
I am in the middle of replacing the flex cable of the camera yaw . One of the 3 small screws that connects it to the bottom of the drone got wasted. Any advice?
If the gimbal has never been removed from the drone, one of the screws has glue in the center of the screw and you have to pick it out with a pointed object like a needle. If it is damaged I use an ez out tool.
Do you have a possible solution for a dji phantom 4 pro that the camera won't tilt up or down. I replaced the yaw arm and roll arm and yaw motor because I bought it after someone had crashed it
First I have to ask if the gimbal goes through the start up procedure? The pitch would move up and down during start up. if it does the problem is in the remote controller settings.
Drumroll....

Did not know you could sing, like that. You are both 1 in a million, or would that be 2 in a million?
If we lose the original cover, how can we fix it again? Is there another way to fix it with the new cover that comes with motor
not really. If you loose the original You have to get your hands on a few casings. If you use the one that came with the where it points. then take the casing off and see where the magnets are located. If it points to the right, you need one with the magnets to the left of where the casing is marked. If it points to the left you need one to the right of it. If you can send me a photo of nwhere you mark it and a photo of where the yaw points I can help you figure it out
From India

Hiii
hey glad to see you. You do drone repair in India? That is awesome. If you ever need anything let me know.
Thnx brother But i foolowed and wached some other videos. It owners claim that the broblem is with ESC board.. Is this correct bro?
You can have a bad esc but 90% of the time it is the yaw motor.
@@Droneted Ooh ok may god protect u 😊🖐🏻i hve same prblm the camera is not centered but whene i calibrate compass nd rotate the drone. I hear that annoying sound. from gimbal. what's causing that sound? It's like something stuck
One of the 3 motors is making the noise. It may or may not effect the gimbal. Is your only problem the centering ? I have a video that address that.@@djamelbmw2228
@@Droneted My prblm the camera always goes left Okay my brother thank u so much my respect to u sir for listening and responding to my comment. Thnx
Sounds like you need to change the casing on the yaw motor. Where are you located?
I don't know if here where I need to leave a message
this will work. my email address is droneted@gmail.com
@@Droneted I will like to exchange the gimbal and the yam arm already assemble, I'll send you mine, just let me know how much and how can we do it, thanks
Hello Ted: I have changed the Yaw motor of my PH4 according to your instructions, using the original casing to avoid deviations in the chamber. Despite this, the camera faces to the left, but I don't have other casings to try. Furthermore, the yaw motor does not seem to have enough strength since if I move it manually it takes a while to focus on its wrong direction, not firmly as the other motors do, but weakly as if it were drunk. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you so much
I have seen a lot of defective yaw motors lately.. Most of the defects are loose windings. If you take the casing off and grab the windings with your fingers they should not move if you try to turn them left or right. I buy 20 at a time and check each one . if they are loose at all I glue them. I recommend you return the yaw motor as it is probably no good. Where are you located? I would be glad to help you.
Hello Ted. Unfortunately I am somewhat far away, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where there are not many options to get spare parts at the moment. I bought the engine on eBay. Anyway, I'll try to take it apart again to check it, while I try to get an original motor. We´ll keep in touch. Thank you very much for your answer@@Droneted
@@fabiofasano5622 What did you find?
Dear friend, please can you give me your WhatsApp number, I have a problem with the yaw motor
Have you noticed on a Phantom 4 that after installing an aftermarket yaw motor, it appears to work fine, but now there's no camera feed showing on the controller? This just happened to me, and I have not had time to investigate it yet, but thought I'd reach out for an idea of where I need to start looking for the problem.
Probably not the yaw motor. It is probably the ribbon cable. Do you have a camera sensor error?
@@Droneted the yaw motor was physically damaged after a hard landing / rollover, as it was explained to me, and hanging loosely. While the drone had a working camera feed, the gimbal didn't work correctly due to the damage. Now the motor is fixed, but the feed is gone. I'll check for error messages when I get home from work and turn it on.
Ok. I’m here to help
@@jaymay306 What came of this?
@@ItchyKneeSon still pending. I think he’s right and it’s probably the ribbon cable. Just haven’t had time with family stuff, etc. I’d like to dive into it in the next few weeks though.
What kind of clip was that?
We call it a Jesus clip. Probably not the real name.
Snicker snicker hmmm.@@Droneted
very good tip my friend Ted Keyser , have you thought about relocating , taking off the magnet and repositioning it so that it is correct ? because in cases where both the esc board and the yaw motor are changed, and they still won't invent a software for this calibration, hug from the friend from Itai sp brazil!!!
That might just be my next project. I have to figure out how to release the magnet
I have hundreds of cases for the yaw. There are only about 5 different locations. Using a compass is the easiest way
is there a way to check the motor for debris without removing the motor from the drone?
Spin it by hand. You can feel the difference. If it is dirt you can blow it out with high pressure air. If it is metal you will have to take it apart
Btw ..go4 auto gimble cal works but also takes it back to the left. Could to mount inside have been nudged?
It is possible. It should move freely.
Hey Ted. P4P hard landing. Gimble yaw slight to left. All cals..imu etc. If I use the go 4 gimble cal (roll/yaw) 100 clicks gamble goes straight but back to left after power cycle. Ideas?
Check the yaw arm. It may be bent slightly. If it works ok and just points to the left it would be my guess that the yaw motor is not damaged but the yaw arm is bent. Look at it carefully
I have a phantom 4 pro plus. My camera continually moves left to right and right to left upon start-up. I tried calibrating the imu, the compass and the gimbal. can you help?
You have a damaged yaw motor. I think the Hall sensors are damaged. A tiny scratch will cause this. What my other video about replacing the yaw motor
ruclips.net/video/4q9fmd5iWVM/видео.html
Ted tried the video bit found i knackered 2 of the 4 bearings taking the assembly apart. I have new bearings but cannot get the old ones out?
sorry to hear that. I use a punch to knock them out. It is long and narrow. I put it through the hole in one bearing. Put it on a slant so it catches the edge of the bearing and tap it out.
Hey Ted!! Happiest anniversary to you both!!
Thanks Jeff
Good to see you posting again
Hey, thanks
Making it to your 50th anniversary, definitely a wonderful world! Congratulations Ted!
Thanks, this is great video!
you can also use finger nail polish remover. let it sit for a while. Be very careful as the magnets are fragile.
Going to the shop to get my compass right now! Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
Good luck. Sometimes you have to try a couple but it is better than randomly try different casings.
So Ted you know you can use that magnet and shaft with a P3 Armature and install them right on a P3 I have done it and it makes an awsome P3 Pro Hybrid
How are you sir do you do a repair service
Yes I do.

at 4minutes and 53 seconds you see the vise with the yaw motor sitting on top. I have switched methods a bit. I now set the yaw motor down in the vise with it sitting on the ears of the casing. This is to prevent damage to the motor.
Hello, Is is very nice what you do. I've learned a lot from watching your clips. Something I'd like to share with you. I had the pointing to the left problem with the camera. Replaced the Yaw motor as you did in this clip. All worked out with the switching the Yaw motor to the original magnetic case. To my disappointment. Still have the same problem. Any suggestions?
I want to be sure I understand the issue. The gimbal pointed to the left. It did not swing back and forth. You changed the yaw motor and used the original case. It still points left as before. Is it steady and the only issue is that it points left? Did it start doing this all of a sudden or was there a crash or hard landing involved?
Hey @@Droneted - First thanks for getting back to me on this. Started with a crash. After that Started pointing left. Original case used. After repair, camera is steady as before but still points still to the left. 🔧
