We've heard about it, saw the fixes, but this is the first one we have seen in person fail! Something to look at on all M8's! These check valves are very thin on the rolled edges causing the check ball to slam shut and potentially crack or shatter. This was a good catch and looking for these more. This fuel pump and parts were replaced on a 2005 DYNA. This bike has 15K miles on it and from sitting for a long period with low quality fuel has forced replacement of all the components. Just a quick run down on what was replaced and why.
