How to repair a USB port without disassembly: PS5 PS4 XBOX LAPTOP PC
This method will work in some cases when the USB port hasn't had damage to the metal fingers. In cases such as this the port has distorted and we are just re-tightning and cleaning so contacts make connection again. I mentioned in the video that the special swabs would also clean HDMI ports This is true but HDMI ports are very fragile and I would only clean if you are sure its dirty and be very careful. Most of time HDMI ports fail due to physical damage. Note: this method will only work on a rectangular USB port it will not work on a USB C.

Quick way to remove a speaker dent. Please use caution to be sure the material is in good enough shape to do this. This method could damage some speakers if cone is loose or in bad condition. Came across your video while searching a fix for my Krell 1200u processor that right surround channel got popping sound and breaking voice. Based on research it appears that it needs a recapping on the channel. Any tips on which capacitor needs to be replaced and what type is best suited. Thanks
I've never seen that problem in one of these iunits n only 1 channel but since it's only one channel I would think it would be the signal caps. I would reccomend using the same caps from the factory which are 10uf 25v 105degree nichicon surface mount caps. Digikey part # 493-9548-1-nd. I would only buy those for the same sound. The signal caps have 4 per channel so I would replace all 4 in that channel.- if this is first time trying something like this I wouldn't attempt as too much could go wrong.. If the popping noise were in more than 1 channel I would suspect the hdmi board but it could still be a possibility so something to keep in mind if the caps don't resolve the issue.
Measured 4.7 to 4.8 vdc at the output connector, (the smaller one with black and white wires) and replaced both of the smaller caps. One was 22uf and the other was 47, replaced both with 47uf 50volt electrolytic. She works like a champ and measuring 5.2 on the rail now. Plus is ok, but negative is not as far as processor voltage goes, at least in my experience.
Great job- Mine was slightly lower voltage and had a wider voltage swing.. Seems these units need rock stable 5 volts.
Last time I spoke with u you fixed my AVS. Now I have a Luxman D105 cd player that the tray will not open And when playing cd, it tended to freeze. Let me know if it can be looked at and possibly repaired
Hi Steven, I've never had or worked on a Luxman so not sure how available parts are for those. I also quit taking in work off internet several years ago. Thanks for checking
Funny how a $0.05 part can disable a $500 unit
Worked for two high end audio manufacturers for 20+ years. You'd be surprised how often the simple was the issue not a full board being burned down. saw pretty much everything on repair returns over the years. I did not do the repairs myself but since I handled the returns & had to insure/check any piece worked before it was returned I asked questions & had our repair guys show me what had happened.
Is there supposed to be continuity between the front two pins on the ram chips for NUS-03?
compare that to the garbage build quality of our blu ray players
So true
Plug it in and show it working
are these reliable ?
They seem to hold up well if you have the factory upgrades done and recap. Due to heat they probably need signal caps replaced in about 5 to 7 years.
@@audiogear474 thanks mate
Hey brother i did this mod lastnight and triple checked all the pins on both 4mb chips. But when i turn it on nothing just black screen. And then now my n64 wont turn on , even the main LED.i maybe blew a fuse? But i was careful
Did you make sure the jumper pack was installed correctly? If you are testing with cover off and put jumper pack in reverse it can cause this.

@@audiogear474Currently, my equipment is able to broadcast normally. However, if there is a light cable, the coaxial cable can be used for any sound, thank you for repairing the necessary information on the road.
@@1cctung I'm not sure I understood response but if you are saying you are having trouble with optical inputs but coax are okay the solution is likely a bad optical input sensor. They are no longer made but can usually be found on Ebay.

I think a safer way might be to place the nozzle on the dust cap first, then turn on / off the vacuum and wait 'til it stops running before removing the nozzle, imo.
A small piece of gorilla tape can work ok too, like the contact area of a pencil eraser, of course tread carefully.

Yamaha would be best bet.. Last I checked which has been several years ago they still had parts for the super receivers such as z9 and z11.. They will likely look up part for you. If still available.
I tried piggy backing the 4mb single ic and its saying no expansion pak detected technically i think it should work
Haven't tried I in that configuration but it can't be just a parallel connection it is a serial device. You have to connect the serial out of one ram ic to the serial in of the other one.
For sale?
Sold awhile back.
I am not really handy with electronics but I get an error code when trying to play a CD. I thought it was probably the laser going out on it. Could it be something else?
Not reading the disc is most likely a capacitor on the small circuit board under the laser or a bad laser. Have you tried cleaning the laser?
I have a broken Krell CD DSP. Could you fix mine? Bob
I no longer take in repair work off the internet but would be glad to try and help you figure out what the problem is.
I had someone look at it who thought it needed a laser but they could been wrong. I assume they cleaned the laser but maybe not.
@@bobaranyi8949 They probably did if they were a shop or at least technically inclined. Thats the first thing you do. They could have overlooked a bad capacitor though. I cant remember the location number of the cap off top of my head that usually fails but its a 33uf non polar cap. It may be worth a try if you can get them to check that.
I will definitely have someone look at the capacitor. Is it still possible to get lasers for this model? As you know it is so good looking with the acrylic top!
@@bobaranyi8949 Theres usually someone on Ebay that claims to be selling a new one but whether they are legit or not I have no idea. New ones haven't been made in years so it would be a used pull or new old stock if you were to find one.

How much is that's worth?
You can usually find around 800-1k on eBay. I sold this one a few years ago but can't remember what it sold for.
They can address more than 8 megs. Games however aren't programmed to use more than 8 megs of RAM since there was never a commercial way to do so.
I'm currently working on 16mb total. So far unsuccessful (crashed in a few seconds) but think I've figured out the problem. Will update when I get it resolved.

I think the one you have is probably a phillips cdm9 which was a newer design but very simular. Some later cdis after yours used a different design The swing arm phillips are considered some of best lasers ever made.

combine this mod with jumper pack with dual 4 mb chips and boom 16 mbs of ram on you n64
64 can't handle more than 8 megs for a certain time running happens for the clock generators (Multiplexors) trust me i fix them since 2003 if you combine more than 8 mg consol run about 1 hour more time will be fabulous graphics glitches and a freeze...

@@omegarugal9283 you aren't wrong. If some have scrap 64s and dont wanna spend the money on those expensive expansion paks, then u can salvage and stack the ram on other consoles.
Good morning. I soldered 2 rams of 2 MB each on top of the original ram, pin 22 to 20 of the other and the N64 is detecting 6MB. Missing something to detect the other ram and get 8MB. 4x2 ram in original slot.
Hi-this ram RDRAM runs in series- assuming you had all the connections jumpered to run in series it would still be a bad idea to stack due to heat issues. Each ram needs its own access to a heatsink.

You are the Man! I had the exact same problem, no power at all. Took a little while to find this cap on the board. It's labeled C6519 I believe. Very tight area to desolder and re-solder. My soldering skills are the best but with the help of a magnifying glass I was able to change it out. I didn't have a 50V 22uF but I did have a 50V 47uF. The Marantz is alive again thanks to you! I'll post a small video that shows the power board out and the location of the cap. Of course I will mention your video. Thanks again!!
Glad you got it going.
any progress on this project?
Haven't had any success beyond the 4mb upgrade.
Are you able to stack two of the 2mb rams in one slot and put a 4mb ram in the second slot?
RDRAM is a serial type of ram-it would not see the 2 megs stacked in one slot as 4.
Wow amazing you not only found, but alao fixed the fault. I have the same Model and it has developed a problem even Marantz and their official distributors admit they've never seen before. Every now and again, the unit goes into factory reset mode and all the settings are wiped. I then have to run calibration all over again. It may last 5 days, a week or two then all the settings are wiped again and you're greeted to the welcome screen aa though you're setting it up for the 1st time! Ive had two separate units do this and both of them are the 8802a models! Any clue as to what this might be?
I've never heard of that problem before.. I don't see many marantz in this town since no one around here sells them so not familiar with many of the common failures.. I'm surprised marantz couldn't fix it. Seems like it would have to be in the main board or wherever the syscon is. I would try United radio in New York if you don't want to send back to marantz.
Quick question: does Space Station Silicon Valley run on this N64? Cause I always heard this game only works when the Jumper Pak is installed due to a bug on the game's code, so it doens't work when a Expansion Pak is being used.
I doubt it would since the N64 "thinks" there is an expansion pack in there due to the 8 megs of ram. Games that make use of expansion pack show found expansion pack when loading the game.
try it, no other way to know
