BBC News presenter caught off guard

A BBC News presenter was caught reclining and yawning when the camera unexpectedly returned to the studio 20/12/2020
Adam Buxton talks about interviewing Mark E Smith from The Fall 17.11.24 1416pm my thoughts on this, not knowing the ins and outs of it are: it seemed like he never got many visitors if you ask me. though i think the drunk trynna deck you every now and again would get kindda tedious... london? i thought you'd spliced some background of Salford over a Rawtenstall cellar-flat or something...(?) i enjoyed the vinyl justice skits from your show...
Mark selected Hi Scores?!! Well, that was never on my bingo card.
old fashioned manc obnoxious humour is the shadow given out
Mark was cool
Your fuckup adam you should have gone in all guns
Maybe one day the English will come to terms that they often idolize total dickheads. There's no problem with liking/loving The Fall, seeing the creative uniqueness of Mark E Smith and at the same time avoid grovelling to horrible personalities because "oh so unique"
It appears to me that he was absolutely having fun and was playing along to the fullest extent of which he was capable
I think this might be a class issue… silly middle class ninnies being too needy and getting a reaction
Very interesting. As for him being rude, when does one get a chance to say such things to a man in a uniform and get away with it? I think he was just using the moment 😂Did he talk about BoC?
Firstly, thanks for this. Great stuff. No where near enough clips and too much preamble chat. And surely you must know he clealry likes you as he's having a good time with you and a good laugh. Maybe it's a class thing, but this kind of teasing is the way many working class blokes are. Certainly the ones I grew up with.
Mark was a very talented, uncompromising artist but had a long problem with alcohol which caused many members of his band to quit or be fired. But his work is- what is and will be important.
As much as I like his music he was a horrible human being. I'd hate to have been in the same room as him. What a bastard.
Love the fall right from the start Smith was an Arsehole though.
I said exactly the same about loving the Fall and that Mark was an arsehole at a Q and A gig on Manchester Music last year.
If there was anyone that you could tell would never drive a car, it's MES.
grease the roaddss, grease the roaadddsss 😫
As a fan of his, you should have known that he was not a 'typical' musician. Did you really think he was going to join in? He sacked Mark Riley for dancing to the wrong song at a nightclub. Catatonia was my favourite Vinyl Justice and I still sometimes watch my Adam & Joe DVD with 'Game & Watch' inspired inlay. I know a few people who get drunk like Mr Smith (RIP). They're not being aggressive, they're just drunk and unpredictable and the class divide doesn't help. My wife (also middle-class) got really scared she first saw me and my mates getting drunk. I just saw the plastic bag bit and ok, that was a bit aggressive 😬 Poor Joe
He hated your posh ass😂😂🎉
of course he was having a genuine laugh.... hes just a nutjob
Seems like a total 🔔 end.
I guess its no more complicated than he was a bright, single minded funny guy who was an alcoholic. And alcoholics are trying to flatten smthing painful for them about living.
Great music, horrible human being
Have you ever seen a video of yourself blackout drunk? Did you enjoy what you saw?
Yes he was definitely having fun but he was pretty much insane
god adam buxton is insufferable. you can see why he hasn't fared as well as his fellow posh boy pals in the bizz.
I did not discover Mark until late in his Career He Reminds me a Lot of My Personal Hero Lou Reed They Both had Visions and Followed them regardless of what Critics, Fans, or the Recording Industry might Like or Dislike. Plus Neither Put up with BS form the "press" The one think about both Mark and Lou , No Body Liked them, You Loved Them or you did not Understand.
If he wasn't happy he'd leave.
Check the record, check the record check the guy's track record!! Mark E Smith RIP
The way he starts shouting grease for the roads' could be a isolated vocal track from a fall record
😂
MES was a non driver? Thank f£ck for that.
Watching this, Mark was having a laugh. He absolutely must have liked you guys. If he hadn't you wouldn't be in any doubt!
Adam Buxton talks about interviewing Mark E Smith from The Fall 17.11.24 1432pm can you do that, just demand cash from people who live in london?
I met him, he liked you didn't say anything about joe but you he rembered
You are a delight to listen to, keep it up, mark smith will twat you from the grave if you don't 🙂
I remember seeing him in the 90s in Liverpool when he was doing a series of talks. I could barely understand what he was saying he slurred so much and he was very good a parting the Red Sea around the bar when he went to get a drink which he was doing a lot. I think the fall had split up at that point. Don’t meet ur heroes. Definitely don’t meet them if u like the fall
I imagine you only got the balls to do this after his demise.
Whaaaaaat?
What a straight, no wonder he ate him.
Aye.
lol, calling Adam 'Officer Vinyl'
MES knew what his reputation was and what folks expected of him, and he plays to that beautifully here
dicks.... MES LEGEND!!!
He told me you were a real wanker Adam.
Adam I had the pleasure of hanging out with Mark, he was very funny so I'm thinking he knew it was for laugh's
Looking at that Hat Your wearing, I'd say Mark E. thought you were "Dicks". Yup.
OFFICER POLICEMAN! there was a user on the fall forum by that username. Your little contribution to the great fall story. You can really see he was having a lovely time. Having a laugh, a nice drink and good little earner.
That looked like a great laugh.😂🍻 Mark was defo enjoying himself showing off his wierd sense of humour.
Adam Buxton talks about interviewing Mark E Smith from The Fall 17.11.24 1429pm i always thought he was funny. as i did the guitarist. this can be discerned especially on the totale's turns album... which i used to listen to pre-stardom. "they're a comedy band.." was my summation as a young un...
Love the Fall but he really was a genuinely nasty piece of work and quite pitiful really.
Adam Buxton on Mark E Smith - this is just perfection.
i saw this by accident when it was first on!! so funny
What's a record?? did he run the 100M in 9.58? or throw the javelin 90 M, maybe he can tap-dance at 400 bpm?
£200 for the interview 😁 Soft lads.
200 in 1997 must be the equivalent of about a grand today
10:55 see his brain in action: " You been to Rhodes in Greece?" MES - Truckers need grease for the road.
