inAgree with you on the Pros and Cons of the DewaltvJobsite TableSaws Saw Overall Dewalt did a great job with the Saw over the Years I replaced all of our Portable Jobsite Table Saws with the Dewalt Saws for the InstallationCrew st the Commercial Woodworking Team I worked at for over 35 years I also liked Pairing up the Saws with a Delta Rolling Stand that gave the Saw a nice Stable Platform with a good Working Height to use the Saw on most Jobsite the Stand did collapse very easily with the Saws still attached and allowed us to place the Units inside a variety of Knack Brand Lockboxes for Safe Storage We also utilized Hardened Chains to thread through the Saws and be locked onto something Permanent on a Jobsite like Concrete Columns or steel Veams
These saws definitely excel at what they're intended for, worksite saws. What sort of work did your company do?

Getting ready to do this but I'm confused on the wiring. I have to splice the wires (older model so ends are diff). QUESTION: If there are 2 wires and each has 2 wires...Do I wire 2 on one side together thereby using 2 wire nuts OR.... Do I have to connect 4 wires separately?🤪
I don't understand what you mean by '2 wires each having 2 wires'. There will be 2 wires that connect to the original igniter via a plug or connector. Snip off the connector and use the wire nuts in place of the connector to power the igniter.

Dado blades are overrated. You can do the same thing with a router bit.
That table top being out of level is very upsetting, but since I'm not doing fine woodworking on it, it's not a deal breaker. I had the same problem with the miter slots and just knocked down the high spots with a file and it was good enough. I just like the portability of this saw and if you add some outfeed support and possibly some side support, it does everything a job site table saw needs to do. If I was doing fine woodworking, I would get the best table saw I could afford.
It's absolutely a great saw, what originally attracted me to it was the ease of portability and the rack and pinion fence. For most of what I do, it's fine but I find it limits me when it comes to intricate designs and/or angled cuts. I no longer need the portability aspect so it may be time to upgrade to a cabinet style table saw 😁
My DWE7485 saw was the same way when I first got one but I considered it a defective product and returned I checked the new one before I left the store and it didn't have that issue was perfectly flat I think you may have ended up with a rare but eventual warp during casting very rarely but 1 in every so many will warp slightly while cooling I'd say it's definitely to late now but I definitely would've returned that
I've checked a few other tables and have found them all to have some inconsistencies. Glad you got a good one on your 2nd try 👍🏽
DeWalt supply a Y-Splitter Hose Kit with AirLock Connectors. Product Code DWV9470. I use one with my DWE7485 and it works great.
I needed a table saw for up-coming projects. A "professional" table saw was just way too much money and took up too much real-estate in the garage . I looked a a few brands, and I found a lot of them really didn't have a solid fence. One side would lock while the other could still move and I know a solid fence makes solid cuts. The Dewalt jobsite saws had a true locking fence. The 8.25 was appealing for the cost, but I already had a 10" miter saw, so I figured they could share blades. After watching this I'm glad I went with the 10 and spent a little more cash (it was on sale), and it came with the stand which is pretty stout. 10" blades are readily available and both my saw can share them. It says I can use up to a 13/16 dado. It also features a non-true-flat table, but it's very minor and won't really affect my work. I'm not a professional carpenter, I'm a DIY'er. I brought it home, squared out the blade (wasn't off by much), and adjusted the tilt angle (that was off). So far I've been very happy with it. Made a dust collector with my Ridgid vacuum, a HD bucket, and a tornado thing they also sell. It collects a lot. Just fine dust in the vacuum. I'd say if your looking at these to go with the 10", spend the extra money, it'll be worth it.

I purchase this 7485 April 2021 and built a 44" X 98" table around it. So far, so good. I agree on the stamped aluminum table; not 100% level on every square inch of table. I do not use this as a job site table, in fact, I have it anchored down so it does not slide. However, you can pick it straight up. Ripping 4'X8' sheets will make it slide if not fastened down. I have put this saw through a lot and it has held.
Wow, your table sounds awesome! I couldn't even think of cutting down a 4x8 sheet on my setup, let alone have the space in my shop to do so. Happy to hear it's serving you well 👍🏽
i've been using this saw for a couple years. hardly looks like the same saw at this point after modifying it quite a bit. here's a non-exhaustive list of what i've done to it. - got a flat tile from the home store, glued some sand paper to it and flattened the top. - used my router and an edge guide to mill out the miter slots and installed miter track with a t-slot profile. - built a safer blade guard with better dust collection - 3d printed a Y-adapter for dust collection - i mostly use 7-1/4" blades for ripping, they are easier on the motor so it should last longer. i got a think kerf riving knife off amazon for $15 that matches the kerf for the blade and fits the saw well enough. a bit of a gap, but i can live with that. i rarely need to cut more than 7/4 stock so the loss of depth has been fine. i use a frued heavy duty rip blade 8-1/4" for joinery due to it's flat grind. i also use that blade for jointing boards because it is thick enough to avoid deflection most of the time. the oshun box joint blades fit as well. they are stiff enough you can remove the stiffener and just use the nut and it works fine. if you really want to, you can swap in the arbor form the 10" i think. i've seen people having done the mod online, but have no experience myself. by measurements that arbor should fit, but getting blade on and off will be a PITA. i've found drilling a few 1/8" holes around the blade opening on my zero clearance insert helped with dust collection. i am still thinking about how to put a threaded rod into the tilt assembly for more adjustment control and to stop it from losing position when the tilt lock is applied. first couple attempts have been about as bad as the default setup, just in different ways. hope something in there was useful.

If you had to do it again, would you? it worked out well but was a lot more work than i was expecting. if i had to do it again, and i will setup my flattening jig for the router and skim the top flat with that so i can control the plane of flatness. my jig is pretty rigid on linear rails. i've used it to flatten aluminum before. lots of passes at 1/64" cuts or less. then i'll epoxy down some 1/4" aluminum plate. but using good quality wet/dry sandpaper on a dead flat granite tile worked and made the saw feel like a whole new machine. you could also do it with a dead flat piece of melamine, a friend of mine did it and it worked fine, but you can't put much pressure or it will flex. the granite provides the weight, you just slide it around. -Great idea to mill out the miter slots and add your own t-track. Did you screw it to the table or used epoxy? i epoxied it in. when you epoxy to aluminum you need to get some epoxy on the clean surface and sand it in a bit because aluminum instantly oxidizes when exposed to air and that oxide layer can come lose under stress. all that said, i think drilling and tapping the slots for machine screws is probably fine, but i put some leverage on mine that is unhealthy so i wanted some extra security. i can always mill them back out again if i need to fix something. the adjustment mechanism is hard because of what is available underneath the saw. not a lot to mount to easily that doesn't get in the way of something else. I am thinking of just going with electronic control at this point. wires are easier than linkages. just gonna move the tilt with controls, not full DRO or anything yet. if it works out maybe i'll post something about it. on the subject of blades, i really like makita 7-1/4" blades for ripping straight grained lumber. the diablo 7-1/4" blade is also good. those blades have a much smaller kerf than any 8-1/4" blade though so get a thin kerf riving knife. i know amazon has ones that fit the saw, that's where i got mine. look for one with something like 2mm max kerf.
@@onehandydude4380 after saying all of that, i forgot to mention that just putting a piece of good quality and flat plywood on top will really help for finer work. cut a kerf into it and hold it to the t-slots with a some countersunk screws and t-nuts. i did that for a while and it worked pretty well. i used 12mm baltic birch, but melamine should also work just fine.

Thank you! The carbon media should be replaced after 5 years or after "1,301,770 gallons of water". Not sure exactly how you'd be able to track that aside from having recorded your water meter reading at time of install. The sediment filter should be changed out every 6-9 months depending on your water quality.
I bought DWE7485 recently and I was surprised about noise. It is high pitch screeching sound. It sounds really horrible. I have tried similar type saw from Festool and was nothing like that. It is something I am missing or should I talk to local DeWalt representative?

Just got mine and the bolt holes don't line up. Apparently Dewalt has different flavors of the stand (or roll cage?) and some don't mate.
Ugh, that's frustrating! Are you sure the stand is oriented the right way? If possible, please update once you have a solution, I'll pin your comment so future viewers can be aware.
@@onehandydude4380 I verified the orientation. The 1-page manual shows a different design for the stand's rear rail. The features and angle are wrong. I decided to notch out the inside edge of the rear holes to allow the bolts to find daylight. Hard to explain but I can't load a pic here.

I have the 7480 which has a 10” blade. They stopped making it and replaced it with the 8” 7485. I have the same gripes as you. The wonky table top and the uneven slots. I did the same and cleaned up the left slot with a slightly undersized piece of wood wrapped with sandpaper until it was the same width front to back. Was a lot of effort and time. I decided to leave the right side alone and not use it. Aside from those flaws it’s been a great table saw. No vibration and cuts real smooth. Had it for about 7 or 8 years now.
I wasn't aware of the 7480. Does your saw accept a dado stack?

What is the purpose of the soft start module? Is it to minimize the inrush current draw when starting the saw?

nice, but i wonder why you didnt spin the stock and slowly move the router along? instead of moving the router and then turning the stock a bit at a time?
Great question! I had actually tried this approach before settling on this method. The problem I was finding with this was it left a splintered surface full of tear out. I was also having difficulty holding the drill and moving the sled consistently, so I was leaving areas untouched and having to go back over again. In retrospect, I think if I had positioned the router bit to cut on the side rather than on top, I may have gotten a better result.

great way to think inside the box! Seriously, though - put a through hole on one end and run a small rod through it (maybe put a roller skate bearing in the hole?), then attach it to a drill. instant spin spin! Then just travel down the length of the dowel with your router.

I just put my Delta planer to rest. I took it completely apart. Cleaned. New blades. Oil, grease and so on. Come to find out the teeth on the gears were to bad to fix. The head kept leaning for crooked cuts. Couldn't get parts. 😢 I had to say goodbye. But! I got the Dewalt 735. ❤❤ Life is good. I also have that finish. Haven't used it yet. But after checking all the competition. This comes up the best at a great price. Good video.😊
Oh man, sorry to hear that! This planer is newer to me, I got it this past spring and did a full tear down and rebuild of it. I'm quite pleased with it. I'm surprised you weren't able to find replacement gears for it. We're they the ones driven by link chain for the rollers or the gears in the box that drove the planer head? GREAT project. I am looking for a storage unit I can put behind my drill press to hold all the forstner/regular bits. I do like the slots so each shelf can be placed to accommodate the individual bits and or accessories! !! !!!
The ability to adjust as needed was something I definitely wanted to include. I try to incorporate this into all my shop pieces. An added benefit with this has also been having the ability to take a whole shelf with me to the bench when using my hand drill.

How tall are you? I just got the DWE7485 saw and am looking for a stand. This stand may be tall enough for me. But if not, I'm thinking how hard would it be to make up some longer legs?
I'm 5 ft 10. I guess you could fashion up some legs to extend the stand, or even use something like bed risers. I ended up building an assembly/ outfeed table as I also needed additional support when ripping longer materials.

And my new DW7451 has arrived. Sure enough, it only raises the saw 20 inches. I'm 5'10", so not that tall, but 20" is not enough. Thirty inches would be about right. I am now grappling with my previous question "How hard would it be to make up some longer legs?" Well, it's harder than I thought. The weird design of the DW7451 makes it a challenge. It's good points: sturdy enough, folds flat, no fussy connector arms; unfold and it's ready. Bad points: too low, hard to mod.
just bought this kit from Home Depot and looked up this video once i set the stand up because i thought I assembled it wrong because its so short... really annoying im a 6'6" dude and this stand is laughable. definitely going to shop for something taller maybe ill build a small platform out of 2x4s for now to get this thing higher...
Haha I can only imagine how short it looks with you standing next to it. I'm 5' 9" and I struggled with the height. I just finished building an assembly/outfeed table, I built a removable extension on the end for my table saw. It's so much more comfortable to use now and I can easily remove it when not needed.
Great video, which I appreciate. I do have one question. Did you ever attempt to fit the smaller bolts to secure the tablesaw down to the stand? It seems odd, but it appears to me that the bolts do fit on one side, but are off slightly for the other. The Dewalt website does not list the DWE7485 as a compatible model for the stand, but then the big box special gives you the DW 7451 with the DWE7485…
Hi @JLAnt, I never tried bolting the stand to the saw, you're lucky though, I still have the bolts (that never happens) and tried installing them. I found the ones towards the front of the saw went in fine, however the fitment of the washer was not great, the edge was getting caught on the yellow plastic and causing it to sit at an angle, if I were to install the bolts I'd probably trim that edge so it didn't catch or bent the wash a bit. For the back two bolts, I was able to get them in although the holes were slightly off center. I hope that answered your question.
I just got the DW7451 stand. On the box it says "for use with DWE7485 and DCS7485 table saws."
Thanks, just got this saw + stand on sale from Amazon Prime Day. This clears up the upper bolts don't fit the holes mystery. The instructions that came with the stand lack sufficient detail. I'm thinking about using zip ties or hose clamps to secure the saw to the stand when I get around to using the saw. @@onehandydude4380
I had the same issue plus the washers for one side are too big to use. Wound up putting one on one side and diagonally on the other side. Allows for quick break down and transport in having to two separate.

Nice video. I can see that the DW7451 stand is the right one for the DWE7485 table saw. They do not appear to sell the DW7451 in the U.K. but do in the U.S. In the UK they sell the DE7450 stand but that is not the right one for the DWE7485. Did you buy your DW7451 in the UK and if you did could you please let me have a link to where? Thanks.
