Journey to the end of the beginning of the new REM (Day 2)
Dickey sounds so intelligent
Sounds like a terrific guy, very modest considering he basically came in and rescued the sessions with some wonderful piano playing and just being himself-a positive influence. Tbf the Beatles recognised this and credited him appropriately.
Who’s Feta King (in the subtitles)?I saw Freddie King in concert, and he was fantastic. I wonder if Feta King was as good.
RIP to all the brothers ❤️🍄🎶
Best guitar duo ever
👍😔
Whats to say that aint been said. For some live at the fillmore is there number 1 favorite album of all time. Theyve spawned 3 generations of musicians who come from their school of music. Thats more important than any album sales. And shows for the record what kind of impact they made on the world.. God bless..
i actually lov duane playing guitar rhythm and lead.....
Rip Dickey hope you Duane and Gregg are working on that fourth album
I think technically, Duane could do whatever he wanted and when he wanted. However, I also enjoy the old country fiddle licks that Dickey brought. Like I say, he wasn’t a savant like Duane but reestablished country picking on a Les Paul. That was the dig during the Hank Garland era, but Don Rich steered the whole thing to the telecaster. Anyway, Ramblin’ Man is an object lesson of his vision. It’s like fiddles, but with your Les Paul on clean.
I just heard about Dickey’s passing. My condolences to his family, friends and his fans. He was a brilliant guitarist and composer.
👍🇺🇸🎸
The 5th beatle
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍
Since I was a near teen ager I have been awestruck by how good the original ABB were. For my money, there is no greater than Duane Allman, and Dickey Betts.
If they went on i wonder if he would still be playing on other albums of there's.
For god sake billy played on a couple of tracks, out of the 100's beatles song's, he was NOT a 5th beatle, the 5th, 6th and 7th beatle were george martin, brian epstein and pete best, thats it,
God rest his soul. His riff on "Get Back" is for all time!
Sorry Billy but The White album was before the Let It Be Album. lol.
5th Beatle and George Martin 6th..I'm proud to a George too
5th BEATLE
Billy was so good and such a nice dude.
WOW! Billy Preston hung out with some icons!
Duane was a virtuoso
THE MAN THE MYTH THE LEGEND BILLY PRESTON was touring with major stars when he was only 15yo???😮 But my favourite BEATLES song he played keyboard on was definitely & absolutely "GET BACK" He bought that song to another level *RIP BILLY PRESTON* PEACE ✌️😎
He opened doors for the Beatles
The dokumentiary Was verry good. And Billy showed his love for the Beatles and there music. He was happy to play with ,,my,, fav Band.lg from Germany, beatles Fan Ellen ✌ ❤
Wonder how long he would have lived?
Billy enhanced the songs -- the project really came together when Billy came on board and if not for George Harrison that does not happen and once Billy played on one of the new tunes John asked him to join the project -- its all on film so this is fact!
Good point about harp players and their influence. Eric Clapton has said Slim Harpo was a huge influence on his playing. Wonder which harp player was Allman's favorite.
Sonny Boy Williamson I and Ii, Little Walter, Junior Wells etc. John Hammond Jr. might have passed on that bit of knowledge to Duane about harp players. But as a long time blues harp player I learned from Duane first. Night after I saw Duane in 1971, I went out the next day and bought a harmonica. Learned how to play harp by listening to Duane on Live at Fillmore over and over and over. Only later did I discover his slide influences. Good to have Dickey confirm it
Memory plays tricks on the best of 'em. Billy Preston was not on the White album. The White Album was released before George called Billy and John told him that he was "in the band." Sorry to nitpick. Amazing work still.
I made a short video on this. Billy definitely, in my opinion, saved that album. If you watch their faces when he came in with electric piano rendition on their songs it was all you needed to see to know the lift he gave them.
Wow!! Loved the Allman bros. and Dicky Betts. Still enjoy them. ❤
Excellent musician
When he worked with them on Let It Be he probably worked on some of the songs that ended up on Abbey Road but he couldn't have worked on any songs for the White Album because that album was already done.
I know Duane was known for his slide work but to this day little Martha is in my humble opinion one of his best I can listen to it everyday and it never gets old just saying
Thanks Mr . Preston
I envy you. I would loooooove to work with the Beatles
Billy came in at a time the Beatles were musically burning out..........and due to his presence in the studio, John, Paul, George, and Ringo had to step up their music because they didn't want to let him down, so they wrote a song about that too.
My band got to open for B.P. back in the day. An honor and a privilege
Did they shoot up together?
Man, I couldn’t help but smile every time I saw Billy smiling. And every time they showed him he was smoking, and smiling so I was smiling for a while lol. His smile at least to me was infectious lol.
Billy Preston my favorite beatle!
Duane was great but dickey played every lick he did
If you are a master at guitar you should be able to figure out and play other licks.
one of the best, if not the best guitar duo ever
So interesting. Duane was the goods. Would have loved to have heard the music that would have come out of him had he survived.
Best one two connection on guitar you'll ever hear. Allman Betts...just tough
So humble. Billy was amazing.
Billy had the shortest audition ever into the Beatles. In second segment of Get Back, George invited Billy to the studio while he was in London backing Ray Charles. John said they had some piano parts on the songs they were writing and asked Billy if he'd like to do them. Bang! He was in with the first lick!
