I like how you broke it down nice and slow , as a deckhand on a fleet boat splicing an eye can be one of the most confusing yet crucial things there is . Even at 2 years I'm still learning learning learning while out on this river.
Thanks for your comment on the video look for my other videos. The most important thing when doing the ice place is getting the first three talks correctly and getting the banana peel look once you have that the rest is easy

This is really cool! Where do you get that tool to use?
It's called a Fid. West marine carries them
Covers the basics, could be more complete if it included details such as twisting the strands as tight as the undisturbed ones and equalizing tension on the strands for maximum strength. Three tucks is the standard number for natural fiber line; synthetics are slipperier and need at least four tucks to prevent slipping apart under strain. "Three-strand" is the correct description.

Thanks! Your video was by far the easiest of these to follow. I was able to splice an eye into 3/4" Manilla rope with ease.
