in the treatise of fishing written in 1550 by juliana berners, she describes how to fly fish for dace to use as bait for trout.
That’s so cool, I love learn tidbits from the past like that. From my experience, which isn’t much, a lot of the old timers didn’t like catching little fish much but it’s fun to learn about those who did!
@@ethanbefishy it was pretty common back in the day to catch smaller fish for bait as bait fishing and fly fishing werent distinguished until a century or 2 after the treatise of fishing was written; pretty neat stuff.

What size rod are you using?
I’m using a 3wt but a 1wt would probably be most optimal.
@@ethanbefishy Thanks. I have a 3wt as well that I use on farm ponds mostly for panfish. The problem there is that, potentially, I can tie into a Bass. My PB (Pond Best) is a 19”.
@tonypimm8940 awesome, I loved fishing for panfish when I spent a summer in America. Big fish on a 3wt put up quite the fight. My pb catfish was about 23 inches and in my 3wt.

Thanks, I use my iPhone 10 for everything. There is a bit of post-fx but not so much on the color, i mostly tweaked the lighting to dim the photo a bit and bring the focus to the center

I really want to watch your video, but I can not watch a reverse wrapped fly from start to finish!! I am sure the fly looks great, but reverse wrapped makes me dizzy!!😂😂
Sorry man. I need to get a smaller camera to get a better angle on the footage. It’s pretty hard working around a tripod😂. Thx for the input I will try to remember that for the next video!

catfish on a fly? is it just a US thing where that's uncommon?
No I’m just a fly fishing nut. Anything that swims can be caught on a fly, some are just harder then others.
