Revisited this video a few times in the last few days and it's helped me with editing. I've done a few blue hour foregrounds now and the clarity and lack of noise that you get is really good. I tried the channel method for making the mask and not sure if I'm doing it quite right but I've found that using the colour range method works best for me. I really like the method of making a layer to create a bit of haze in the lower part of the sky.

I'm working on learning what Jess has taught in the video. One thing I'm having trouble with is how she added her milky way layer to photoshop. I see it's a regular layer while the foreground is a smart object. Any help is appreciated.

I did my First Milky Way photos last week as a 70 yr old with a Nikon Z7 (Should be a Z6 II ) plus Nikon S 20mm f1.8 > I Live in South Africa in the City of Port Elizabeth and camped for 6 nights in a very remote and dark sky Baviaans Kloof (Google it ) no moon >> I am pleased with my RAW images but have EVERYTHING To learn about the processing of Milky Way images to make them isolate and pop

I think it should be remembered, there are two types of light painting in one a flashlight or handheld light is used to light the scene; in the other type the light itself is the subject, often done with a colored or rainbow wand to make various patterns or waves of light near or around a subject.

Outstanding presentation! I missed the live event because I fell asleep. Out let the night before doing landscape photography. I' ve photographed the aura twice and seen it a few times. One photo event out in Utah I think May 2017. Also, witnessed STEVE riding the night skies. Trust me, if you find the opportunity to see and capture the aura, just DO IT!
