    Thanks for the video, its still helping people years later!!! Also my biggest issue while figuring this job out was, I was worried about taking the brace off and whether I needed to support the motor. I did work on a 78’ datsun 620 truck (2wd) and the brace held zero weight. Just pop the brace off, one of the tie rod ends and its good to take the pan off 👍

    How did you get the control arm to clear the knuckle? When I raise the control arm there’s a thin metal rail that hit the knuckle. At 14:31 and 15:37 when you raise the arm you see the knuckle moving up with the control arm. I’m stuck at the spot.

    • @chuyp118
      @chuyp118 2 месяца назад

      You need to play with it a little as ur raising up on the jack let the jack drop a little so the knuckle can fall into the jack raise the jack again n let it down a little so it can pop into the control Arm just do that back n forth n until it's in place

    I'm just going to add a comment in case anyone was curious about the process on a Datsun 620: It's the same, with a slight variation on the passenger side idler arm. You will need to unbolt it, as shown in this video (it's just in-board of the frame rail, as opposed to out-board) and then remove the two crown nuts that hold the center rod in place. Pop that out, then pop out the cross member as shown here, and you have full access to the oil pan. My brain tells me that the downward force of the engine mounts on the cross member is enough to bend the frame welds and drop the motor on my head, but apparently it's not true!

      The way to do it is when you get the bolt through the first hole, to keep it as far unscrewed in that hole as possible. Then use a crowbar against the wheel hub to leverage the hole into position

      @@AmaanKhan-cu4qy can definitely be done but since you done compress spring along with using the Jack to line it up… you are working with a loaded spring pretty much. This video is spot on… I just would go to autozone and rent the tool to compress the spring. Also, I watched it get done with removing the other bolt. Not the one closest to the wheel.and the bushing helps guide the bolt straight thru. Just make marks on the bolt so when you retighten.
