How to Solve ACT Math Problems Example 7 | Math Energy TV
Task:
Solve the given word problem.
Abandoned mines frequently fill with water. Before an abandoned mine can be reopened, the water must be pumped out. The size of pump required depends on the depth of the mine. If pumping out a mine that is D feet deep requires a pump that pumps a minimum of (D^2)/(25) + 4D - 250 gallons per minute, pumping out a mine that is 150 feet deep would require a pump that pumps a minimum of how many gallons per minute?
How would YOU solve this problem?

Task: Solve the given word problem. In the figure below, ray EF was constructed starting from rays ED and EG. By using a compass, D and G were marked equidistant from E on rays ED and EG. The compass was then used to locate a point F, distinct from E, so that F is equidistant from D and G. For all constructions defined by the above steps, the measures of angle DEF and angle GEF..? Perfect video 😁
First it's easy AB parallel CD(given) So, angles FHC=HGA=90°(corresponding angles) And EF intersects CD(given) Then EF perpendicular to CD(right and intersect)
@@MosNewcell Solid effort! You cut out a few key steps, though. For example, the measure of angle HGA was not given. It follows from having perpendicular lines, and we have to actually write that on a line by itself. Next, we have to say that angles HGA and FHC are corresponding angles on a separate line. Then we write what follows from that, which is that their measures are equal. It’s tempting to have multiple items assumed and combined into fewer lines, but that’s not the appropriate way to write a two-column proof. Keep up the hard work!
hmmm not that hardd
@@2amjan Some people stillll mess it up though! 🤷♀️
Not possible
@regyyy_7 Excellent!
no such value of course
Excellent 👏
It is impossible. Absolute value is always positive, no matter what number you take. And a positive number + 1 is also positive so it can never be 0.
One note though: The absolute value of 0 is 0, and 0 is neither positive nor negative. So the part about absolute value always being positive is not true. Your reasoning at the end, though, was right! A positive number plus another positive number will always be positive. Keep up the hard work!
N=0
Ooh not quite. We can check whether n = 0 is a valid answer by plugging it into the left hand side and seeing if the quantity equals 0. | 0 - 1 | + 1 = | -1 | + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2, not 0 Remember that the absolute value of a negative number is the positive of that number. Keep up the hard work!
Thank you RUclips lady!!
Thx
You helped me with math homework thank you!!
i was just freaking out over this question because i was so confused, so thanks for saving me from a panic attack ❤❤

Wow Thank You Very Much This Is Really Helpful. I Hope You Are In Good Condition, Again Thank You Very Much.
You explained it so easy. Please post More
YES PLS
what do you mean by “same type”
Same type of real number. For example, two irrational numbers or two rational numbers. Irrational numbers are one type of real number and so are rational numbers
Thank you!
You're welcome Roxy!
I don't really understand your explanation, could you please explain
Thank you for asking. What exactly seemed unclear?
please add more videosif you can. Great Explanation
Thank you! What kind of videos would you like to see more of?
@@MathEnergyTV YES

do you have part D?!!?😥
@@MathEnergyTV thank you sm this was so helpful! :D have a nice day/night!
best explanation of this ive seen
So the equation T( temp at time t ) = T(0) (temp at starting point 6am) + r(rate of hourly temp change ) x H ( lapsed time in hours from 6am) Plug in value T (2pm) = -3 + 2 x 8 = -3 + 16 = 13 😌
Watching all of these TODAY. Thanks for posting 😊
