Wow, Cole this was so valuable, and so helpful. Thank you so much for this absolutely crystal clear and helpful piece on the fundamentals. 👊
I self-published books on Amazon and produced over 100 audiobooks. Now Amazon has found a simple way to steal my royalties, and now my family is homeless. Amazon is selling my book _How to Live in a Storage Unit or Other Place You Don’t Belong_ by John Casper (pen name) but they won't assist me in regaining access to my own account to update the bank information. Make sure to sell on multiple platforms. Amazon is also stealing from famous Navy SEAL David Goggins, and they have stolen from many others.
Do you publish on Ingram Spark as well as Amazon for the wide distribution, or just Amazon? And on Amazon, do you use expanded distribution, or just exclusive to Amazon? I published exclusively on Amazon for my last book, but am looking to purchase my own ISBN and publish on both KDP and Ingram Spark.
Yay Cole -- pioneers of the world unite and tell a new story. Just like you.
This was killer. Truth bombs all over the place. 👍🏿
Man the section about "broke writers" had me all ears.
this makes a lot of sense, very insightful, thanks!
Hey Nicolas , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
Write about what an audience with money wants to read. Make a lot of money doing that. Buy a cabin in the woods. Write more.
This ☝️
Technical issue: the audio in this video keeps stuttering and cutting during your lecture. I do my best to listen “around” the static, but it’s difficult to hear what you’re trying to teach. What I’m able to hear, however, is valuable information. Excellent content, but I wish I could hear it more clearly.
True…. It’s an issue for all artists… I have also been thinking about this a lot… because I do want to write what I want… but I also want to get paid to write… so…. I can do both… but…. I need to accept that I can’t just write only what I want… I need to write what I need to write to get paid… so I can also write what I want and not have to worry a about being broke.
You need to get someone better at visual arts than you to select your thumbnails. You are very handsome and probably have marketing reasons for selecting your thumbnails, seeking to draw in your target audience and repel others. I don't think that's the way to go with thumbnails. Visual content is not the written word. I did not point it out on the other examples of ineffective thumbnails but third time's a charm. Even though you look good, are personable, your thumbnails are likely not having your desired effect (and this is confirmed with low numbers of views). Just like a book cover that thumbnail is the first thing they see, and they may only look at it for 1 second so it really must be attractive first, intriguing second, promising third.
I love this!
This was black coffee. No sugar. No cream. Much needed.
But Black Coffee is good 😅
And we've also recently found out that authors/publishers buy back large amounts of their books from retailers that they know from part of the statistics for the Sunday Times list (in the UK). No wonder so many writers are poor.
super good, logical and concise insights. good video dude, you earned a new sub!
This could not be more true. I’ve been a “ghost writer” for two decades and never considered myself a real writer. Hmmm…
Hallelujah! As a former journalist for nearly 20 years who had to push hard deadlines daily, I get so frustrated with naïve, romantic writers. Life is about hard choices. Listen to Cole.
Publish a book on this!! Your dream or the money.
He already did. Read Snow Leopard or the Art and Business of Online Writing.
@@aminataykanu Thank you. I will.
The cold water most writers need, yet will largely reject. Thanks, Cole.
Break those limiting beliefs Cole!

Your first niche - not your forever niche 😂 - love it…
You are an awesome writing mentor!
That’s true Cole….at some point I searched on RUclips, “How Ed Sheeran writes music?”
23:50 - This section reminds me of Kohei Horikoshi. He's a manga artist and writer, and he started out with a small series "Barrage" that got cancelled pretty early. He then started another series named "Oumagadoki Zoo" which also got cancelled, though it had a longer run. (I think Barrage was second, though.) He was about to give up on his dream when he got encouraged to try one more time. The third series was "My Hero Academia." It ran for 10 years in Weekly Shonen Jump, and just ended this past August. It spawned an anime, four movies (so far), several Japanese musicals, and a ton of spin-off books, novels, and fan materials. The manga volumes have sold over 100 million volumes around the world. I see the parallels from what you described here with Horikoshi's story. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
Thank you! This was so well done and clear! 🙌🏾
I took a lot of notes and I want to learn more.
What are some references from you or others on dictation with writing articles and books with a Mac?
Hello ,where can I publish the book i create ? (Not amazon kdp) Thank you
Apple Books, Kobo, Ingram Spark, your website, social media, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, etc.
Gems on gems. Can’t wait for the fiction my guy!
Same, super excited to share it.
@Nicolas Cole When publishing on Amazon Unlimited (KDP Select) the terms and conditions state that we can't distribute the book in **digital format** anywhere during a select period. Would that include chapters on my website only available to my members?
It’s crazy how many times I listen to each of Cole’s videos 😊
Haha that's awesome. Out of curiosity, what leads to a 2nd or 3rd listen?
@@nicolascole77 I’m happy to share! I’ll often watch these with my phone locked as a background podcast, and I know I’m missing some valuable insights so I’ll play through it again and pick up on some new ideas. But you also pack these with so much value, I’ll also re-listen to episodes when I can focus more just to really let the ideas sink in. In this case, I’ve recently latched on to the idea of writing a book but am a long way off. I’ve only recently started taking online writing seriously, and am working toward starting a newsletter. This episode helped give me a path from there to a self-published book! Thanks again and hopefully this is helpful input 😊
@@nicolascole77for me it’s just all the value you bring. I’m just trying to absorb every ounce of good info.
This is the third time I’ve heard Cole say super dingdong hardcover 3 times now and I laugh every time
😂😂😂
Really excellent. Thank you, again.
You're welcome!
Love your content. Especially the q and a. Thank you! Do you have any content on how to use your blog posts to create your book faster?
Thanks for solving common objections about how to write the book in the right way 🙌
Awesome, onwards!
