@@Metalfy In Asakusa, I enjoyed Asakusa underground shopping street, and the Asahi Beer building has nice views on their observation deck of the Sumida River, and if you like to have an insight into traditional Japanese handcrafts and artifacts I recommend visiting the Edo Taitō Traditional Crafts Museum. Outside of Asakusa, Ueno Park is often skipped by foreign tourists but is quite a nice park to walk through. Another park that is nice to walk through is Rikugien Gardens in Komagome, and in Harajuku, I recommend going into Meiji Jingu Shrine, and visiting the gardens, where you can find the traditional tea house that the emperor Meiji had built for the Empress Shoken, and Kyomasa's well.

The sound AVAS makes can be heard best in the portion where I am backing up into the garage

AVAS is a safety feature on the vehicle meant to warn nearby pedestrians that the vehicle is in motion, as the electric motors are silent. Therefore there is no way to turn off AVAS when the car is running on the electric motor. AVAS does turn off when the gasoline motor is running, so you could just turn the heater on in your car to stop AVAS.

The AVAS should activate when the gasoline motor shuts down and the gear selector is either in drive or reverse. If your AVAS is not engaging when the car is on the electric motor I would say that a trip to the dealer is in your future

@@JalaalElasmar are there instances where the car is on gasoline mode when the gear selector is on reverse ? Now I’m wondering if it’s because the weather is too cold so the car is on gasoline mode when I first start up the car.

@@chief8268 Yes. If the temperature in your vehicle is significantly lower than what you have your climate control set to, the gasoline motor will kick on, as the heat from the engine is what is used to create warm air through the vents. You can avoid that by turning off your climate control system. The computer may still turn on the gasoline engine if the temperature outside is very cold. Just remember, if the gasoline engine is running, AVAS will not activate. Only when the gasoline engine is off will the AVAS activate

@@JalaalElasmar thanks for the info, seems like it’s the temperature indeed. After the engine starts in motor for a while it switches to electric and the avas begins.

I think it’s meant to be a little annoying so that it grabs your attention. The electric motors make no sound so this is what Honda chose to alert people that the car is nearby.

Regret getting a hybrid. Didn't hear the sound in the test drive and now it drives me nuts whenever I go in reverse.

@@frankmorris8207 you could just turn on your car’s climate control system to make the gasoline engine run. this would stop AVAS from activating.

Simply a way better sound than a manual transmission in reverse with straight cut teeth that creates much louder whining instead.
