Played there a few times. Rory Gallagher came in after his show and sat in with my band once. Met Freddie King there too. Great place!
Some of my favorite nights happened in that building. Best friends, amazing girls, primo drugs, amazing music. Amazing place, if they were open I always there.
Wow how did i miss this reunion. My brother and I spent 2 or 3 nights a week at Ma blues. Was there the night Bugs Henderson was playing on a very small stage that was setup along the east wall. During the 1st set someone ( I think John Nitzinger ) came in dressed in a guerilla suit and sat right in front of Bugs ( a foot away) smoke a cigarette in a foot long holder. Trying so hard to make Bugs mess up. ) Had us rolling in the floor before the night was over.

I was the DJ at Bill Simonson's Old Plantation when we turned it into a rock club. I see some familiar faces here. When the OP was bought for the Dallas museum (sad day) I was sent to be General Manager of a club in Orlando. I was told to do what Bill did. And I did. Then I came back to manage Bill's club Danceland in Fort Worth. Good times.
I barbacked..learned to bartend @ the OP rock club Houston right after it reopened. Ended up moving to the Palace after that as a bartender. US Kids played the Houston OP frequently

Was this the same band that was the intro band for Led Zeppelin's first American Tour? I have a picture of Led Zeppelin's first concert and at the bottom of the tour poster says: also appearing: Mother Blues. Wish I could copy it but RUclips doesn't like stuff like that. OOPS, I didn't realize this was a bar.....Just trying to find the connection to the bottom title......
