Sorry for being off-topic, but I have questions concerning pistols and I hope to have your input on the matter. It's the ongoing debate between Blacktail and Silver Ghost. A year ago one of your comments suggested that the typical player not heavily favoring the pistol should use the Blacktail, which I agree with and this is the conclusion I reached. However, I always entertain other playstyles and experimentation, and wonder if pushing the Silver Ghosts's exclusive trait can indeed beat out Blacktail performance. Your videos indicate more than enough personal experience exploring this topic, so I ask: Is using the Blacktail for torso shots to prevent headspawns a viable approach, or does this possibility not bother you with the Silver Ghost? Are you fighting off the headspawns well enough that it doesn't matter? I tend to use the W-870's high Break rating to blow torsos apart and prevent spawning in the first place, when I have the ammo to spare. A follow-up question, if you crit on a ganado with a head plaga waiting to pop out, does a crit drain the plaga's health bar as well, or not? I could see the Silver Ghost being more favorable on forced-headspawns if that is the case. Are the staggers reliable enough on the Silver Ghost that the Blacktail's slightly higher rate doesn't really matter much to you, or would you say it's still noticable enough to be a valid point when making a decision between the two pistols? I realize I'm assuming you still prefer the Silver Ghost, my apologies if you've changed your position. I want to test this later in-depth anyways, but I read somewhere that the Silver Ghost's exclusive trait can also apply to different boss fights when the knife prompt appears, have you found this to be true? Example: fighting El Gigante and slashing at his exposed parasite, if the game considers it Melee damage, would having the Silver Ghost equipped drastically increase the chance to get critical damage on these knife attacks? Final question, which pistol(s) do you prefer, and why? Is it due to any of the points I brought up, or is there anything I'm missing? Do you believe a player can push the Silver Ghost (or possibly Sentinel Nine since they're so similar) past a level of performance the Blacktail cannot reach, or vice versa? I skip the Punisher, Red 9, and Matilda only because I haven't seen anyone show off anything amazing that I think puts them on the same grounds as the other two/three. Thank you for your time, I'll be rooting for you regardless of a response or not.

Okay, I continued doing the 4x permadeath challenge. I'm on the island at the wrecking ball sequence, zero deaths, a 7.5 power rifle with 3x power and a killer 7 with 3x power and I'm onetapping everything. BUT: the game soft locks at the loading screen before the wrecking ball fight. Any ideas?

Congrats on the win! I started doing the challenge in spite of myself and I'm really enjoying it. I had to switch and learn keyboard instead of controller but it's so much better. I'm on a seed right now which I only died once to (a teleporting fully revved bella sister early on) so I gave myself a re-do because resetting takes forever - I reckon you could clear it easily ... what do you think about winstreaking? :D

0:30 So what I'm hearing is... the riot gun deals 1% more damage than the W870

In the original RE4, the shotgun was built around crits. It had a crit rate of 35%, and critical hits dealt the standard 10x damage. That was enough to kill any enemy that was weak to crits (which is basically just the common enemies). Additionally, crits were determined independently for each enemy, so you'd hit 10 enemies and 3 of them would have their heads exploded, instead of just having a 35% chance to explode all of the enemies' heads. This gave more reliability to the crits. Oh right, you could hit 10 enemies with a single shotgun blast because each pellet had infinite penetration power, and an enemy could only be hit by 1 pellet, so if they were barely swiped by a single pellet, they'd still take full damage.

Interesting fact about the original: salvador didn't actually have a huge amount of hp. He typically had around 5000-6000 hp. He has 3500 hp if you fight him in the village before you enter the cabin. Compare this to the 2000 hp regular ganados have later in the game, and you'll see that Salvador is really only 3x tankier than a normal ganado. He appears much stronger for 3 reasons: 1. Damage towards him is capped to 6.666 power. On headshots, 5.555 power. The only NG weapon that ignores this cap is the RPG. 2. He takes 0.7x damage from the TMP, as opposed to the ganados who take 1.4x. 3. He is immune to critical hits (but he does take the normal 1.2x damage from headshots). Knowing all this, the best weapon against Salvador in the original RE4 is the red9, as it is the only pistol to reach the 5.555 power limit for headshots.
