Not sure I entirely agree with this. If you raise £200k pre-seed I would say it is entirely fair for a founder to pay themselves £20-40k. Investors want the best people, in the best position. No one wants to know their founders are struggling on ramen, couch surfing or fraying personal relationships. Any good early-stage investor would be comfortable with 10-20% of the raise going to the founder(s). Keep looking for investors if they don't. They don't get it. Pre-seed: £20-40k. Seed: £30-60k Series A: £50-70k Breakeven and beyond: £100k+ I'd be much more comfortable with a seasoned, settled founder where she has left a lawyer's job in the city to follow her amazing idea take £50k salary and have her 100% focused on growing and proving the business model.

really interesting! thanks for sharing :) I'm going through the process of opening an agency myself and the timing on this video is incredible still wrapping my mind at the business model being laser focused on MVP delivery efficiency... what about having MVP delivery as a part of the value being generated by the agency, but focus more on being a business partner to founders? that would theoretically relieve the cost-efficiency pressure for projects and facilitate recurring revenue, no? cheers!
