UNSW Music Performance

The Music Performance Unit of the University of New South Wales is a small team responsible for the production of high quality classical music concerts on campus. A core of UNSW's cultural life, the Music Performance Unit manages several primary activities, including:
Australia Ensemble UNSW, Australia's leading chamber music ensemble that presents an annual subscription season and free concert and workshop series;
Collegium Musicum Choir, an 80-100 voice choir comprising mostly undergraduates but also staff and members of the general community. It presents an annual program of three concerts;
Burgundian Consort, a chamber choir of 12-18 voices of high quality young singers. It presents an annual evening recital as well as appearing at concerts of the Collegium Musicum and other special events;
Large Instrumental Music Ensembles (LIME) comprising the UNSW Wind Symphony and UNSW Orchestra;
Young Artists Concerts and special events.

The Living Poetry Project: Salty Sweet
Relationships: they can be so different for each of us. They come in many forms. They can be easy, messy, gritty, complex, challenging and joyous. This is the essence of being human.
Learning to navigate relationships more consciously and with greater awareness is a step towards empowering our inner self. Through small acts of relational intelligence, and leaning into compassion, empathy and kindness, it opens the door to creating a more connected world for each of us.

Great video and excellent insights into these scores. Is this width of vibrato for flute standard in Australia by now? Twice Geoffrey Collins said he wasn't going to use much vibrato and yet the width was there. Especially in the Brahms 1 extract.

This should be required viewing and listening for all high school flute players with dreams. Geoffrey has highly intuitive insights into the meaning and sound of each musical entity. Of the Shostakovich: "At first glance it looks quite happy...quite humorous." But perhaps we should be thinking: "poverty-stricken flower seller on the pavement as Josef Stalin walks by." As a totally amateur flute player, these kinds of interpretations are invaluable and beyond delightful. Music always reaffirms my faith in the globe--if only temporarily. Thanks so much. Nicely done. Very much so.

Very cleaver but can you sing beautifully. Would have been a lot better if you broke it down instead of rushing through it ,do it in segments explaining as you go on.
