Never use flaps for turn fighting with Mig29. It harms the performance if u haven't noticed...
Yeah, reviewing the footage i noticed, the ideal turning speed is quite high, and if you use flaps you slow down further
It depends snazzie, in this video he was using them to his advantage and he would have lost the rate fight without them. you can actually use the mig 29s flaps to gain speed when in afterburner, the F-16s flaps work the same way, the flaps actually help in any sort of rate fight or vertical , you deploy them when you are in the dive during a loop and gain so much speed then you turn off flaps once you reach your best cornering speed and you turn around really damn fast. If it's a 1 circle tho using flaps is a bad idea. So while the flaps decrease turn preformance temporarily you gain so much speed that you immediately have an energy advantage when you deploy them, and if the opponent is about to get an angle on you , you simply release the flaps.
