My daddy used to make a lot of bets on these. He didn’t know that they were prerecorded but the bookie sure as shit let him place bets. My dad shot himself, my mom and my brother to death after he gambled the last of his money away on these stupid horses.
Wonder if they used to try & guess what color the ppl on screen wore..wonder if this at all effected ppls dreams and in the dreams the black and white was a reality. The old horror films, slight crackling in the sound when silent, the super dark parts you can barley make out, really are my favs still..it showed just enough to let your imagination do most of the work with backround details.
I remember watching these as a kid. Foodland in WV distributed the game cards. It's funny how, watching these now, the finishing sequence was always the same in every race.
Could someone with engineering background on this explain the pattern as he switches the color on? There are some back and forth and in-between fields for a while before it switches over fully, and I was wondering what was going on with that.
I never heard of that station until now. However, I recall the move to colour, initially in the U.S. and then when Canada switched on colour in 1967, for the country's centennial. I remember American TV boasting some show being in colour, such as Disney's wonderful world of colour. Of course, since our TV was B&W, I didn't see much difference. 🙂 I do recall some people had a colour TV in the early 60s, with the round picture tube, masked off to make it appear more rectangular. There was one occasion, when I visited the CBC flagship station in Toronto, CBLT, and watched them produce a show in colour. Then they had to pack up their one colour camera, to take to Maple Leaf Gardens, for the Maple Leaf's hockey game that night! 🙂 Things have certainly changed, when these days anyone can have a HD colour camera in their pocket, in a smart phone!
Unfortunately not many people had color tv sets. I watched the first season of Batman in black and white before we got a big ol Curtis Mathis color tv and stereo counsel and it was awesome….✌🏼✌🏼
Nobody won ever!! They printed the tickets after the races were prerecorded. My horse would be about to cross the line and another horse would fly past him.🤣🤣🤣🤣 such a scam.
What year was this?
Ngl, there are news reporters these days that are way less colorful than this man.
Fred Petrick aka Mombo the clown. Such talent, and such a kind soul! Rest in peace sir.
It's cool but such a cool opportunity missed. Could have done all kinds of cool things switching over.
Who watches TV in 2024?

0:55 - that moment when people viewing went, “ whoa … wow! “
We didn't get a color TV in our house until 1991 when our black and white RCA TV blew out from the antennae on the roof getting hit by lightning.

This happened on April 14th 1967.
That's wild we had nothing but colored TV growing up only thing that changed was the resolution and thickness
I wish the video description had more information. What US state was this in? What year?
it was on 4/14/1967
@@elizqb3th do you know which station or state?
Just because the channel could broadcast in color, didn't mean all shows were color. It was expensive.
The moment where the people started dream in color. Looks like wizard of oz
wtf. Why would you cut it off before he tells us what Gov Hughes says about Dubuque's financial flood dilemma? Cliffhanger. I need to know!
“Much more colorful characters” what a line
These video should have million of views.

Unfortunately not many people had color tv sets. I watched the first season of Batman in black and white before we got a big ol Curtis Mathis color tv and stereo counsel and it was awesome….✌🏼✌🏼
I feel bad for all the color blind people who are watching this video....
Nobody won ever!! They printed the tickets after the races were prerecorded. My horse would be about to cross the line and another horse would fly past him.🤣🤣🤣🤣 such a scam.
I want to hear more about the flood dilemma
this is also the first broadcast to show a man sneezing live on tv. its cut off in this clip.
Finally, wondering about the color of his tie was driving me crazy
We had a black and white tv until I was 15, when they went to color it looked exactly the same 😁
The man who steps into frame of the color camera wants to give credit to his team, what a guy.
In Living Color
