DJI removed GeoFencing. Is this a good or bad thing? - T2CW
Earlier this year DJI removed their GeoFencing feature that prevented their drones from taking off in restricted airspace. The feature was specifically cited in a recent mid air collision between a DJI Drone and a Firefighting Super Scooper airplane right before this decision was made. Is the removal of this feature a good thing that will free up professional drone pilots to from unnecessary burdens, or will this lead to more in flight emergencies due to pilots ignorant of the airspace? Let's discuss.

Aint watching the video however a 31/2 inch magmun shot gun worh a full choke with number ones with a 30 plus inch inch barrell would definitely get action
Happy Birthday man, Hope you recover from those soon!
Wait till you get to your 50's!
Damm only 33. Those are some hard miles
4 years of military police and 10 years of firefighting/ems/sar will do that to ya
The soulless eyes you have my condolences
I puked my soul out Monday night and am still trying to find it again
That is an expensive lesson to learn. No one got seriously hurt and he is paying for the damages is sign of a responsible individual.
Can I please get the drone
FYI, version 1.5 of ADIAT is coming soon. It will add "Max Object Area (px)" in addition to "Min Object Area (px)". You can then figure out your GSD value to figure out how many pixels roughly your target should be. For example if your GSD is 5 cm per pixel, and you are six feet tall by one and a half feet wide, your total pixel area would be 335 pixels laying down (36.58 pixels long by 9.14 pixels wide) and 28 pixels standing up viewed from above (9.14 pixels wide by 3 pixels deep i.e. only head and shoulders visible). You can then increase the Min Object Area value to something reasonable for your target i.e. 28 pixels (standing up) and your Max Object Area value to something equal to or less then your targets size laying down i.e. (335 pixels). You don't need to spot a car (or whole image) if your target is a human. That would hopefully reduce your false positive detections. This technique may have also worked really well for your thermal detection showing your body but not including the smaller rocks false positives. A couple caveats on this though. If you are underneath foliage it can break up the total pixel size of your body making the Min Object Area setting less important. The Max Object Area setting is still important. Your test was also very challenging in that your ranger green cloak blends in with most of the other foliage coverage. Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
Hell yeah! Waiting for the weather to clear up and then I'll be doing a bunch more work with ADIAT. I still need to do a full video on the thermal Hotspot detection, and want to do one with progressively smaller and smaller items of bright color as well! Can't wait to play around with the new update, it's legitimately one of my favorite softwares!
Great video opening! Very cool rifle! I don’t think I’ve ever considered a cloak? But looks like it’s well made and multi-functional.
Never thought I'd like a lever action, but it's become my go to hiking rifle. I just need to mount a scope on it. And it's extremely comfortable, but definitely not entirely made for tromping through all that brush I was in. But I'm a firm believer that gear is meant to be used!
@@NorthWindAerial Absolutely! Did you say it was a Ruger?
I would wait until dark to search for someone. Not during the day. You would have been seen very quickly. In Search and rescue I wouldn't do thermal searching during day light
Got a video planned on night search and rescue soon, just gotta beat this flu first. I'm still using the thermal in the day time when the ambient temp is freezing though.
We gonna see u 🤪
Man it still looks bad compared to what it used to look like
Yeah... gonna be many years before the burn scars entirely fade unfortunately.

Agreed. Saw something that he turned himself in right after it happened, which if so definitely makes me have more respect to him. Haven't seen it confirmed yet.

There are so many CRJs in the sky
That seems to be one of the leading theories is that the Helo had eyes on a different airplane.
Why not a 10 gage turkey gun, or a punt gun? Ideas: What's the useful range of shotgun slugs, rifled and sabot, 410, 20, and12 gauge?
10 gauge is hard to find around here, punt gun is far too big for point defense.
AA was IFR on a published approach. Data shows a stabilized approach. PAT- 25 (HELO) appears to have been VFR, warned of conflict with AA, ignored conflict or mistook another aircraft for the AA aircraft. Did ATC follow standard operating procedures for low altitude deconfliction of the two aircraft? Recently there have been issues with ATC giving inadequate communications with near disastrous results. Flight data, cockpits voice data, post collision investigations will answer many questions we have. The "swiss cheese effect" lined up and this disaster happened. Very sad day for aviation safety.
In the recording the helicopter never reported the CRJ in sight. So maybe they didn’t see it for whatever reason. The controller should’ve probably used altitude separation instead of see and avoid. Especially at night time
From what I've been reading, the helo pilots *were* responding back just on a different frequency not recorded in the archival footage.
@@NorthWindAerial That’s good to know. I hate that for the controller though. They’ll still try to put some blame on him like saying he didn’t give a “specific” traffic call to the helicopter. Like saying traffic at your 11 o’clock, 2 miles. That sort of thing
Controllers should speak more slowly, more clearly and not mumble.
WTF is the U.S Army doing conducting training exercises in the middle of commercial airline traffic. Doofus army idiots just killed 64 people. This is not a "tragedy," this is pure incompetence.
Real question: is this incompetence on the part of ATC
not 100%; but ATC could have told AAL5342 to abort landing and further tell PAT25 (or both) that they are on collision course straight up instead. But traffic was too much.
@@yToughi Yeah seems to me to be about 10% crj fault and the rest an even split for ATC and the heli. Can’t even imagine how ATC guy is feeling begging the only living person to blame.
In case you can’t understand what they’re saying, the first transmission is ATC asking if PAT25 (the helicopter) has the CRJ (the airplane) in sight. The transmission right after is ATC telling the helicopter to basically get out of the airplane’s way.
Thank you, pinned.
Really hard to decipher for most of it
I wish I could understand what they're saying. Hard of hearing. If someone could explain? What a dang tragedy. I feel for everyone and their families involved.
ATC asks the Helo if they have eyes on the Plane. ATC directs the Helo to pass behind the Plane. Collision happens, you can hear clips of the ATC personnel reacting to the Collision. ATC begins directing all other aircraft to ascend and divert. Hope that helps! It's definitely hard to hear.
@NorthWindAerial thank you!
This was all the fault of the helicopter not responding. What was going on in that helicopter? It is a military helicopter, this shouldn’t be an issue.
According to news releases, the Helo was on a training mission. I'm doing my best not to speculate, but the Helo was asked if they had eyes on the plane and then directed to pass behind it, which it appears it didn't.
Helo was responding, but since they're military, their outbound radio traffic can't be heard on this recording. The controller could've heard them loud and clear though. Military talks to ATC on a different frequency but listens on the normal one
@zakm0n copy. Was unaware of that. Thanks for the info!

Updated the title, thank you.
This is gonna be industry changing
Yep.
Elon Musk just told the head of the FAA to resign. He did. America is in for a rude awakening.
NAS overburdened and failed
@@jass7981 this wasn’t the result of an FAA issue. Seems like helo pilot didn’t have a transponder on for ATC to have their altitude, and then failed the order to follow behind the CRJ after confirming visual on it.
I don't know if it'll be industry changing. But it will probably mean more elaborate traffic pattern regulation and control for the airspace around DCA. Speaking as someone who lives 5 minutes from the airport (can see flashing fire/rescue lights out my window right now) and works underneath the final approach pattern for Runway 33, this has been coming.
Seems kinda gay to me
You seem kinda an idiot to me

These have fireworks, but I've seen a robot dog armed with a flamethrower and drones armed with machine guns. Everyday we're getting closer to Cyberpunk becoming a reality.
What's this world coming to when you can't even step off 10 yards.
Cool! I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that was a Tractor in the snow. (lost in the camp fire Paradise) I miss doing trips like this. Perfect grub! That was some impressive flying through those trees! Epic!
I've got some friends I'm hoping to collaborate with soon for more outdoor adventures and cooking. The ones I mentioned in this video, @jades_overlanding I'm very comfortable with hiking through the snow but am a complete ninny when it comes to driving through it outside of normal streets. It's something I'd love to try more. One of these times I'll have to get you to try my FPV drones! They're an absolute blast to fly even when low and slow like this. Especially when using the motion controller (that I of course forgot in this video 😅) it's just stupid amounts of fun.

😊thank you for a great presentation. I was thinking maybe you could do a feature about the Bayliss Library. In fact in early 90s Huelle Howser did a small feature about it. Just a idea. I grew up on Sacto Refuge and attended school in Willows. I left at 18. I only discovered Nancys cafe and the Airport only decades after i left Willows. I only saw it in passing growing up there. I loved their Onion Soup😊i hope someday if funding ever comes through the town can build the Korean Air Museum as they proposed. Keep up the great work. I learned alittle i didnt know before.
I don't know why I never thought of the Bayliss Library... my own mother used to work there! I will absolutely add this to my list. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
I have a postcard of Aerial view of Bayliss i can share if interested. It was from Bayliss Store. Thats great your Mother worked at library.
@johnniejohnson7916 please do! You can scan and email it to me at northwindaerialimaging@gmail.com
I sent a pic already I dont know how to scan but hope its well. The Library and the Grange would be a good feature. I read in early 1900s or during World War 1 Some actually expected Bayliss to prosper into a major city given the Agriculture and one time some thought Willows would prosper into a major metropolis w the coming of Sears and a City Engineer even thought Willows would grow to become as big as Modesto.
I assume candy was harvested?
Correct. Son's friend had a birthday party and the parents weren't sure what to do with the giant piñata afterward.

We would like to make a map for Swiss drone to deliver the medical kit i rural area. Which software is good for mapping. Can you help us.
If you're on a very tight budget, Web ODM. One time payment, no cloud based services. If you can fit it in the budget, you can't go wrong with NOVA. I believe it's about $500 (USD) per year, which seems like a lot until you see some software that costs that per MONTH. NOVA is extremely simple to use from uploading to exporting and they've got a Super helpful team that'll help you get set up.
I am also a SAR member that uses SarTopo. Do you think we will be able to cast back a live feed to our command trailer with the 4 T ?
Don't see why you shouldn't be able to. The RC Plus and Pro both have screensharing built in already for casting, I use it often. You can also do a livestream easily using FH2 or RTMP streaming as long as the controller has an internet connection. Worst case scenario, the RC Plus also has the HDMI port built in.
@NorthWindAerial thanks for the tips
@claudenormandeau9211 always happy to help! If you need anything demonstrated or experimented with let me know, I'm always looking for more video ideas and new things to learn!

M30T has hot swap. I'd have to time my M3T to see how long it takes.
Yes nine months later, but for those watching, it’s shows what they did wrong, and what one might try to actually knock down a drone.
In Nam, Force Defense used 28 inch modified barrels, slugs and double ought buck.
You ever inject bees wax into your load cup. It delays the load separation

It would be great to see another test with intermediate sized shot and flight control wads. Also I think it makes sense to do 2+ shots per test since the goal would be to saturate the target.
It looks to me like the buckshot shotgun was sight in wrong and was shooting really high
