The new Cathay Aria Suites is an excellent product - what were you expecting airlines with their new business class. You can only move forward with new designs within regulatory approval requirements. What Cathay has done is a well executed standard of the base model of the seat with high customisation. when was this flight. We landed in gimpo on 21 jan 25, but there was no snow.
The flight was on December 1, 2024.
Why is this disappointing ? We are flying Asiana next month LAX-ICN in J class and a 13 hour flight will mean a much better service. Try flying that long distance.....
Just to clarify, my disappointment wasn’t with Asiana Airlines or the in-flight service itself. The issue was primarily with the security process at Incheon Airport. There was an extremely long security line, and due to some staff-related issues, many passengers who were at risk of missing their flights started cutting in line, creating a chaotic situation. This caused a domino effect, and I wasn’t able to visit the lounge or even grab a bottle of water before boarding. As a result, I boarded in a rush and ended up being thirsty for a long time during the flight.
@@bluefish-aviation Oh, understood! The title of this video made it seem like you were not happy with Asiana once on board. Luckily for us, we are doing a dual quick transfer once we land in ICN - should be a fast security transfer from international gate to another international gate leaving ICN bound for FUK. Unfortunately, we will never see landside nor get to use the ICN lounge.

I am wondering about the wireless charging malfunction, did you try it once you reached cruising altitude? Usually they prohibit us from using charger while on the ground, so they might disable it on the ground
Yes, I tried using the wireless charger once we reached cruising altitude. It worked, but it was very sensitive and would often stop charging if slightly misaligned or accidentally touched.

Doesn't AMS only has 1 terminal? There are different departure halls but they're all inside one building that is relatively compact compared to other international hubs. The Cathey A350 business class seat is really a smart and elegant design. Privacy feels quite adequate, and not much less than some of the door/screen options out there, which can feel claustrophobic.
Indeed, I was mistaken. Amsterdam Airport only has one terminal.
The menu out of HKG is just weird. What looks like a starter (soup) is really one of the main dishes. So I ordered the soup and was waiting for a main course that never came. Drink service was very spotty, and the crew was busy talking to all the other passengers. Except us. Cathay is expected to be one of the top airlines, but we didn’t get that feeling.
I agree that it is disappointing too, as this A380 business class flight is only 3 hours long!

It will be the worst option. Don't misunderstand. I've been a gold member of CX over a decade until Covid. I flew frequently either first or business class of CX CGK-HKG and to USA via HKG. Since I flew Emirates via Dubai to EU, I fly westward to go to US simply to take Emirates flights. No competition.
Cathay Pacific is definitely among the top premium choices. The competition is rough though. Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad are direct competitors when it comes to transiting. For direct flights, Cathay Pacific for sure, although Air France and KLM need to be considered with their upgraded business class making them the two best airlines in Europe hands down. It needs to be noted that the Pier lounge and other cathay lounges in HKG are phenomenal and makes it worth transiting in Hong Kong. So Cathay is overall value for money

Actually NO, it will be Singapore Airlines for the business class. It's(Singapore) A350s are getting retrofitted starting 2026. Additionally, Cathay is NO longer my favorite A350 operator because of my obsession with Lufthansa A350s. But at least Singapore Airlines is my most favorite A350 operator.
I'm also really looking forward to Singapore Airlines' A350 retrofits starting in 2026! My last experience flying on their A350 left a great impression. As much as I admire Lufthansa's A350s, I don't often fly them since I rarely visit Frankfurt. On another note, Finnair's A350 seat refurbishments have been quite successful too.

Lufthansa is not even close to cathay objectively speaking. Their sh*t 2-2-2 configuration seat is gonna be here for at least the next 3 years. You are underestimating the german paper works and the slow level of execution. Their new business class allegris is not revolutionary as well, the current herringbone seat of Cathay is still far superior to Lufthansa's aria suite, although Cathay's new business class aria suite is a downgrade as well

Hell no!! CX's service had deteriorated since 20 years ago but their air fare is still very expensive. With that price I rather take Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Finnair or even Turkish Airlines. I rather take a transit instead of flying direct on this shite. Also CX's boarding gate in Schiphol is always the furthest one in the terminal (E66), it's like taking a hike.
I also like Finnair and couldn't agree with you more about the gate being far away, it's quite a walk!
Took the same flight on Sep. Crew was hardworking but catering (same menu as yours) was a big let down (it's generally much worse compare to LHR route). Can't sleep properly as this is a day flight. Would not even bother to do Cathay flight on this route unless I have no other options.
HKG - LHR is probably Cathay Pacific's most important route, and AMS is not even close to CDG.
I wish I could fly this in 2039!
Regarding the room temperature soft drinks in the lounge, it seems like that they are trying to cater to the Chinese crowd who are adverse to drinking cold drinks. I find this rather ridiculous.
