Wonderful video. I pre wash all my fabrics before I apply the starch solution. Batiks are also known to bleed, I had yellow dye from a batik fabric drip on one of my light blue batiks creating green spots. That’s when I started to prewash. Every quilter experiences something different. Thanks for sharing.
Hi MrsWorms👋🏽! Thanks so much for contributing to the discussion 😊. I hear ya, these are the “secrets” that typically aren’t shared but make a world of difference in the outcome of your finished quilt. I appreciate you being here and will see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
OMG. Same.
Hi Amy 👋🏽! Wonderful, thanks for contributing to the conversation 👍🏽😊
I’d love the Go! Big except I don’t have the space to leave it out on and it’s the heaviest to move around. Yes it is $$ but hopefully those looking for one can snag some Black Friday deals
Hi Chickenlips👋🏽, thanks for contributing to the conversation. Make sure you’re signed up to receive the AccuQuilt emails to get notified of the deals. They change daily in that window of time, so make sure you check your emails. If you have the Go!Me, plus a Qube set that is 9inch or smaller, there’s so much you can make with just those tools😊. Time, money, and space permitting you’ll be able to upgrade soon😊👍🏽
Love your way of sharing how to piece this block together. Love the fabric too. I hand cut everything, but I have decades of experience in quilting. To cheap to buy a cutter....lol
Hi Jackie 😊. Thank you so much for contributing to the conversation. I admire your years of experience and ability to hand cut! I’m glad you enjoyed the way I assembled the block. I was nervous about the fabric combination so I’m glad it’s pleasing 😊. I look forward to seeing you in my next video. Cheers 😊👋🏽
Hi! I'm a new subscriber 😊 I love this block but haven't tried it yet. I'd like to know what you made your design boards with? Is it flannel or felt? I want to make some like this. Thanks!💕
Hi Pattie my new quilty friend 😊. Thank you so much for subscribing👏🏽! The design boards are made with acrylic paint boards wrapped with non piling craft felt. I didn’t choose flannel because even though it says “non piling”, in my experience it still beaded up. I was lucky enough to get the boards on a 50% off sale @ JoAnn. The craft felt I purchased on sale as well and I purchased it by the yard, also from JoAnn. I cut the felt to the size of the acrylic board with approximately 1 inch overhang. I secured the felt to the board with E6000 glue, placed a heavy object on top and left the glue cure for 1 day before I used them👍🏽. I’m so excited you’re here and will see you in the next video😊👋🏽
@@TalohaStudios thanks so much for the greeting and information. I intended to use felt as well but wanted to check. They look great👍 see you next time💕
@pattiecoxey My pleasure Pattie🥰👍🏽
You did a great job making this look easy. Thank you!
Hi Sheila😊👋🏽. Thank you for contributing to the conversation! I’m glad the video was helpful. It’s a cool, fun block once you understand how it fits together. Please join me for another video 😊👋🏽
Well done Tammy. The fabric looks so delicate.😊
Hey Diane my quilty friend 🥰! Thanks for hanging in there with me🙏🏽. It was a fun block to figure out and yes the fabric is on the “dainty” side😂. I appreciate your support & will see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Great explanation! Thank you for the video!
Thank you so much Paula😊! I’m so excited it made sense & was helpful. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Love your happy fabric choice. Thanks for your tutorial!
Hey Marge my quilty friend🥰. Thank you! The colors keep my spirits up when I got stuck trying to figure out how to make the “trick” section of the block 😂. I appreciate you sticking here with me🙏🏽. Hospice work has been busy these days so I haven’t had time to go live or make more videos😞. But I have some cool videos planned & I’ll see you soon. Stay well 🥰
Thank you for pointing this out. Could you fold each side over so that it is about 1/4”?
Hi Jacalyn😊👋🏽. You know, I haven’t tried that. I guess you could but it’ll probably add more bulk than is aesthetically pleasing. Thanks so much for contributing to the conversation! I’ll see you in the next video 😊👍🏽
Qubes come in the following sizes: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 (there is NO 7").
Thanks for the clarification 😊
The 10" and 12" work on the Go! When I bought the 12" I also bought the Go
Thanks for sharing 😊. I just recently purchased the 12” and I’m so excited to get started with it😊
Would be nice if you showed the finished product.
Hi Irene😊. Thanks for the feedback! I’ll remember that for future videos👍🏽
Your voice is so encouraging! I really want an accuquilt now!
Thank you🥰. It was worth the investment for me! I wouldn’t quilt without them 😂. Please join me for more videos, I’ll be getting back into AccuQuilt videos soon 😊👋🏽
Thanks for all the advice, thinking about purchasing the go big E and wanted to see what were the most usable dies.
Hi Teresa 👋🏽😊! I’m glad the video was helpful. I’m excited for you & hope you decide to purchase GoBig. It can be a game changer for your quilting experience 😊. Thanks for commenting, I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽
I’m 65 and have arthritis in both hands. Thanks to the The Go Big Cutter, I can cut my fabrics with ease. I mostly use the strip dies.
Hi Stacey😊👋🏽. Thanks so much for contributing to the conversation! I’m so glad you’re able to keep quilting using your GoBig. Arthritis is very debilitating but you didn’t let it stop you from continuing to quilt. You found the tools to extend your quilting years! I appreciate you being here and will see you in the next video 😊👍🏽
I love seeing all tge talent, skill, and creativity. Thank you for sharing😊
Hey Diane my quilty friend🥰! They were all so inspiring. I had so much fun. Thanks for always supporting me🙏🏽. I truly appreciate it🥰
Amazing display of creativity, love this video very inspiring! Thanks for the post😊
Thanks Elizabeth my quilty friend 😊. The video doesn’t do these masterpieces justice! The hand stitching was just breathtaking! I got to meet several of the quilters and hear the details behind how, why, and what it took to create their beauties. It was so inspiring to be in the same room with all those quilts. Thanks for contributing to the conversation 🥰👍🏽
Are you still doing videos? I miss the lives you do on Sundays
Hey Bettina my friend!!🥰 My work as a hospice nurse practitioner has been keeping me swamped lately 😞. I’ll be getting back to doing Sunday lives & more videos in the near future. I miss you too my friend! Thanks for supporting me, it truly is appreciated. I hope all is well on your end 🙏🏽😘
Glad to see a fun post from you this morning. Thanks for sharing all the Beautiful quilts.
Thank you Marge my quilty friend 🥰! I really appreciate you hanging in there with me🙏🏽. I’m developing an interesting technique to share with my quilty friends. It’s been keeping me busy so I haven’t been uploading as much. I’ll be back on schedule in the next week or so. I can’t wait to share it with you!🥰
I imagine you need to change the rotary blade after a number of uses, like with any rotary blade.
Hi Eileen👋🏽😊. That’s correct. The blade should be changed periodically. I change my blades based on the material I’m cutting. For example, If I’m cutting cork fabric or waxed canvas, I change the blade more frequently compared to when I’m cutting quilting cotton fused or not👍🏽. Thank you so much for contributing to the conversation! I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
you had a unit turned around in the orange block.
Thank you for letting me know 👍🏽😊
I’m a human bean now let’s get into it? Made me chuckle 😃😃😃
Hey Sam😊! I’m glad it brought you some chuckles 😂. With all that’s happening now & in the future with AI, I wanted to be clear I’m “real”😂. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate you 👍🏽😊
@@TalohaStudios ahhhh!!!!!! That’s why you said it! I was wondering why, but now that totally makes sense 😂. Ok but now I’m questioning……because AI would totally say it’s a human. Suspicious 🤨 hahahaha
Sam my quilty friend🥰, I now have that same suspicion 😂. That’s what I get for trying to outsmart AI😂😂. Thanks for the chat, it made my day to have “real” dialogue with another human being 😂😂. I’ll see you in the next video 👍🏽👋🏽
What size did your 10" squares end up when you did this?
Hi Emily😊. They shrunk approximately 1/8-1/4”. The main issue was the ones that I hung up to dry on the bias, ended up drying more rectangular vs square if that makes sense. If you’re using a layer cake with a pattern written for a layer, I wouldn’t use this method due to the shrinkage and potential bias stretch. I hope this helps😊. Thanks for contributing to the conversation 👍🏽👋🏽
😊
Thanks for commenting Judy 👍🏽😊
If I'm understanding the machine correctly, you DO have zig zag stitch - it's on number 1, you 'just' have to increase the stitch width which looks like right top button. Also, you have 3 lined one, on 2 :)
Hi👋🏽 Yes! You are absolutely correct. I’ve since figured it out since making this video 😂. I appreciate you contributing to the conversation & hope to see you in another video 😊👍🏽
Hi, with wonkie heart block cut out 10 layers making each layer a different colour/fabric jumble up each pile upon itself, then seam each layer together you will have 10 scrappy blocks (ignoring the heart). The heart will not show up unless pieced in the same fabric/colour. Enjoy cheers Bronwyn
Hey Bronwyn 😊👋🏽. Thanks for much for contributing to the conversation. Your tip for using Layer Cakes is so valuable. I appreciate your being here. I’ll see you in the next video 👍🏽👋🏽
what a unique design! What do you include on your labels?
Thank you for commenting 🥰. So far I’ve only included my name and the date. I’m currently designing a new quilt label that can be either embroidered or written on with permanent ink that will include more information. I’m still figuring it out so stay tuned to the channel to see what I come up with 😁🤞🏽
I am an absolute nut about labeling quilts - it drives me crazy ith something like “for Billy on his birthday, from Grandma!” (Just an example). We need to add as much I for stool as possible to our labels. I bought an appliqué quilt from 1869 quite a few years ago - no label but how did I know the year?? The quilter quilted the year on the quilt - unfortunately that’s all!!!! The seller did t know where it was made or even where it came from! I bought it in York, PA!
Hi Sandy my quilty friend 🥰! I can TOTALLY relate to your experience now that I’ve purchased this beauty! I’m going to reach out to the Etsy seller to see what info I can gather. You acquired an 1869 beauty😁 That is absolutely wonderful. I can only imagine the craftsmanship that went into creating it. Thank you so much for saving it from the landfill👏🏽. It’s cool to honor & cherish the quilters who can came before for us. We all put so much of ourselves into creating our quilts that they/we earned the right to be acknowledged for decades to come😊. Thank you so much for sharing your story & contributing to the conversation 🥰👋🏽
Cute quilt! I'm sure that little boy James loved it😊
Hey Diane my quilty friend 🥰! I’m so excited about this quilt. The energy feels like James loved it dearly. There’s some “worn” areas in the border that I couldn’t capture on camera indicating it has been used and washed multiple times due to usage. I’m so excited to recreate this gem! 😊🤞🏽
Have you used the double wedding ring die? I have the fabric, not looking forward to cutting all of those pieces.
Hi Diana😊👋🏽. I do not own the double wedding ring die 😞. That is a block that is way over my head because I don’t have the patience to piece it together 😂. My mother is currently working on that block and is cutting it ALL BY HAND 😲. I’m sure you’ll have an easier go with cutting the pieces using the die. Let me know how it goes, I’m rooting for you 😊
Accuquilt does have a log cabin die. I have it and it’s pretty easy to create that block
Wonderful Jenny😊. I appreciate you contributing to the conversation my quilty friend 😊👍🏽
Thank you for sharing this comparison! 😊❤
My pleasure 🥰! I’m glad the video was helpful 😊. I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽
What size of the Go Qubes do you use the most, and why? Trying to decide....
Hi👋🏽. Thanks for your question 😊. I own the 4, 6, 9 & 12 inch GoQubes. I use the 6 & 9 inch the most because they fit in my GoMe cutter. I own the GoMe, GoBig, and Studio2 cutters. The GoMe is my “go to” cutter simply because it’s the easiest for me to access in my studio. When deciding which size Qubes to invest in, there are 2 main considerations: 1. Which cutter do you own (Qubes up to the 9” will work with the GoMe) and 2. Which BOB dies do you own or are interested in purchasing. In other words, if you like/own BOB dies that finish to 8”, then you would invest in the 8” Qube sets because you’ll be able to combine your 8” BOB with your 8” Qube. That way, you’ll get the biggest bang for your buck😉. I hope this helps 😊. I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽
I don't need a 17 minute video to know that this is nothing but a sales pitch.
Hi Ellen😊. It is absolutely your choice how you spend your time here on RUclips. You can choose to watch the video or turn it off😉
With different designers come different sizes .... so I run my charm square through my 4.5 inch Accuquilt from my 8 inch cube. I just did this for one of my quilt students because the squares need to be starched.
Hi JC😊👋🏽 That’s an excellent idea! I’ll use this tip in the future. It will save me time and improve my piecing😊. Thanks for contributing to the conversation 😊
Tammi ... I have a few quilting students and for 2025 we are going to explore my Accuquilt Cubes. Every month, we are going to make at least one block per Die .... just going in order starting with Die #1. We each choose our own color way and will focus on accurate quarter inch seams. I wish you would join us.
Hi my friend🥰 That sounds wonderful! Will you be doing a hybrid live/zoom version?
I am detecting an audio problem after rows are sewn.
Hi Suzanna😊. Thanks for letting me know. I’ve been having mic issues the past few videos😞. I’m working on it
Sorry I missed the live. Lost power and internet. Power back on. Internet not.
Hey Bettina my friend 🥰. Oh, no… That’s a bummer. I’m glad you safe and it wasn’t a long outage 🙏🏽. The reply is here when you can enjoy it😘
Thank you
I can remember (so long ago) when I thought I didn't really need a Go! cutter because I could rotary cut pretty well. I thought it was only worth it for applique and at the time I didn't do enough of that to push me to buy. They got me though when they started doing the BOB dies! The first die I purchased is a now discontinued (pieced) Basket block die. I had made the same block with regular rotary cutting so knew I had to have that one and still use it today. The second one I got was the Log Cabin die which I love, love, love! Both for making the blocks and when I need 1-1/2" strips of specific sizes (made a great pieced border for a pandemic mystery project with it). The idea of being able to cut all the fabrics and pieces for complex blocks like Storm At Sea, Cross Roads, the Glorified Nine Patch, Carpenter's Wheel (yep have 'em all, LOL!) in one pass sucked me right in! Once I was sliding down the slope, even some basic dies became "necessary": I did find that I liked using the Value die that came with my machine for cutting two inch finished HSTs and squares in bulk. I make a lot of scrap quilts so it wasn't hard to convince myself that I needed the 10" square boards that cut both the one and two inch finished HSTs and the one inch finished squares in even greater bulk (like sixteen at a time vs six on the Value die). I have one Cube -- I also have the nine inch and just the Angles -- because a lot of the BOBs I have are that size which means I can easily make companion blocks for them. Also since it includes a five inch square die, I can die cut (scrappy) charm squares with ease. And of course due to Accuquilt's periodic great sales I now have an applique die stash as well! Ironically, years ago I purchased a custom die to make the angled roof, gable and door rectangle to add to strips from my Log Cabin die to make a 12 inch pieced Schoolhouse block because back then they only had that as an applique block. Of course now they have the pieced nine inch schoolhouse (yep, have it) and of course that also goes with my Cube. Surprisingly though, I don't own any strip dies: I can't justify buying (and storing) those since I very much like using a Stripology ruler for strips and strip subcuts. I do however long for the day when I can have a dedicated space to put a Go! Big. One day!
Hi Vivian🥰! Thank you so much for contributing to the conversation. Oh my stars, your journey into the AccuQuilt world sounds so relatable 😊. It is indeed a slippery slope, but well worth sliding down😂. I truly appreciate you being here and watching the video! I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽🥰
I missed your live so catching up now. I got back to Texas from vacation in Crested Butte, CO! Beautiful weather! So much cooler than Texas! Great video thanks!
Hello my quilty friend 🥰! I’m so excited you had a chance to enjoy a wonderful vacation in CO! I’m in Southern California and I’m SO ready for cooler weather 😂. Thank you for contributing to the conversation, I appreciate your continued support🙏🏽. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I love how the stitches are covered. Great video.
Thank you😊! I appreciate you contributing to the conversation. I’m glad you found the channel and will see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
Oh no! StaFlo is my favorite! I bought a couple of jugs a while back. I prewash all my fabrics. I don't need shrinkage or color bleeding in my finished project. Thank you for another block from the 6 inch cube! ❤❤❤
Hey Suzanna😊! I know it’s a bummer that StaFlo is discontinued 😞. Thanks for contributing to the conversation my quilty friend 🥰. I appreciate your support 👋🏽
Hey Tammie, great video. Please address your sound, its so harsh and echoey hard to listen too, and could you please do a demo on the starched blue and white block you showed us, love that. Keep up the great work. :))
Hi Natalie😊! Thank you so much for letting me know about the audio quality! I realized once it was over that my mic wasn’t picking up😞. To see the tutorial on the block, search my channel for the “AccuQuilt block translation: Broken wheel” video. It’s in the “AccuQuilt Quilt Block Tutorials” playlist on my channel. I’ll figure out how to link it here🤔. Give me an hour or so😉
Here is the link for the Blue Block tutorial ruclips.net/video/8MNRp75A640/видео.html
I really like this block! Thanks for translation to AccuQuilt. This is different from the Chimney Sweep BOB.
Hi Jackie😊! Thank you for contributing to the conversation. I appreciate your feedback. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
This is one of my favorite blocks for scraps but instead of those white triangles I use rectangles, then square up the block with a regular ruler. I realize you were trying just to use the Accuquilt dies only.
Hey Suzanne my quilty friend 😊! Yes this block is wonderful for busting up your scraps. You’re right.. because this block is made of 2 simple shapes, it’s easy to rotary cut 😊. Thank you so much for contributing to the conversation & supporting the channel👍🏽. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽
I forgot all about the live. I'm so sorry
Hey Bettina🥰! No worries. Thanks for watching the replay my quilty friend 🥰
Thank you, this was really helpful!
My pleasure Mrs.M😊. I’m glad you found the tips helpful! I’ll see you in the next video 👋🏽😊
As much as I want an accuquilt I know I wouldn’t be able to afford the dies. I might still try the smallest one.
Hi Tenita😊! Thanks for contributing to the conversation. I hear ya on the price. What I find is most cost effective and lets you get the biggest bang for your buck is the GoMe + 1 Go Qube set. You can make 72 different blocks with the GoQube and all of the sizes except the 10” & 12” will work with the GoMe😊. So if you’re ever in the position to make the investment, this will help you maximize that investment 😊👍🏽
@@TalohaStudios this is actually a really good idea and I’m leaning toward that because I tend to stick to pretty basic quilt blocks and shapes. And i usually make 6 or 8 inch blocks. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me.
@@TalohaStudios does the go me ever go on sale? Right now its $129.99
My pleasure 🙏🏽! Here’s another tip to help you decide between the 6 & 8” Qube😉. Look through the 6 & 8” BOB (block on board) dies. If there are more of one size that you like, get that size Qube set. That way, in the future as you have more money to invest, you can build on your existing Qube set instead of buying dies you won’t use often. Also, sign up for their email list that way you get notified of all the sales! I hope this helps 🥰
Yes it does. I recommend waiting until Black Friday week, since it’s coming up soon. They have daily specials that week particularly on Friday. The best thing is to sign up for their emails so you don’t miss the notification of the sales 🥰
To many chemicals, i was given scraps. Highly starched fabric is the worst on my machine. Soaking is to much
So is Sash in the Dash two strips sewn together, then folded and ironed into itself?
Hi 👋🏽 The total width of the sashing is approximately 1.75”. There a seam down the middle, so just under 1”. On either side there is approximately 0.75” in which you insert your quilt sandwich. Then you sew your 1/8” or 1/4” to secure your sandwich to the sashing. You would do that on both sides to connect your quilt sandwich squares together. I hope this makes sense 😉
@@TalohaStudios it sure does! Great video! You have a new subscriber!
Ps! It would be a blast to sew with you!
Oh my stars🥰! Thank you such much for subscribing👏🏽. It truly means a lot to have you here😊👍🏽
I’ll be setting up a way for us to quilt together virtually so stay tuned for updates my new quilty friend 🥰
